That was a really good review. I'm starting to consider replacing my car and have been watching reviews for numerous hybrid cars and brands. But I seldom stay until the end of many, due to the presentation style .... some reviewers make too much effort to sell themselves rather than the car. In this review, I really felt it was all about the car and what it offered ...... concise and to the point observations. You kept subjective comments largely to a minimum and I came away thinking I might seriously check this car out at my nearest dealership. Well done!
I’m glad you enjoyed it Duncan! That’s a really lovely comment and is exactly how I aim for my videos to come across to the audience 😊 it’s a great small hybrid option for sure!
Fantastic review! My Ioniq hybrid is near end of its 4 year pcp and it’s an excellent car but I have 50k miles on it so torn between buying it outright or replacing. Yaris/Clio seem the only similar ish alternatives as I don’t want an suv and don’t want to take a step back from 60-75mpg all year round
Thank you! Yes I’m sure you’d be happy with the quality, economy and drive of both the Mazda2 and the Clio, as long as you don’t mind something a bit smaller than your Ioniq. There’s quite a few bargain 2021/2022 self-charging Ioniqs out there too, other good options would be the Toyota Corolla Hybrid or the Honda Civic Hybrid! 😄
@@Carcode the concern is I keep reading about poor motorway mpg with them. Where as the Ioniq is just brilliant on a motorway regarding comfort and economy. Dealers aren’t too inclined to lend a car Dow a day so you can do a good 80 mile trip. Yes the Corolla is good, my friend has one. It’s a touch out of budget but it would be a great car. I do motorcycle reviews as a little hobby, so was great watching your work and getting some handy tips. I will be doing one of my car this weekend as a used car/50k mile review.
Gorgeous looks now, finally the interior seems to be approaching the premium quality of the rest of their range, the 116ps & 9.7 to 100 however is quite a let down for a 1.5 hybrid. I expect they'll release a more powerful option for North America, that we won't get, like they they did with the Mazda 3 & XC30 that came with V6s in the US. So annoying. Great review.
The same can be said, but the other way around, of the Toyota Yaris Sedan (which is a rebadged Mazda 2 Sedan). Platform sharing is way more common than one might expect. It's a good method for car makers to cut costs. ;)
Very informative review. I like the specification detail that you gave. Plus the comparison with the cars nearest rival, the Honda Jazz is great.
Thank you, glad you found it informative!
thank you for that review. The change in the colours / wheels was nice
No problem, I’m glad you enjoyed those elements 👍🏻

How's its steering feel & ride comfort comparing to the narrower 1695mm-width true Mazda2?
I'm quite surprised 12-year-olds get to have drivers licenses and car review channels in the UK! :o
Mazda 2 Yaris is what it is! Rebadged Yaris. Wonder if any Mazda but the badge in it?

@@CarcodeThat's right! Respect it. Sam is out here putting in work and turning out quality, informative videos.
And you are?.... Exactly 🤨
So appalling design!!
Do you think? As they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I think it’s very stylish outside.
It's like a yaris with tumor!
