@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy I use the Savage, Pultec EQ and LA-2A within console and it sounds phenomenal. However, when I use those on a bus and apply them to my guitar DI tracks within Studio One, it sounds lifeless and I end up using my Ampire plugins for playback instead. Any tips on why this is?

As someone who has used both the Twin and the Solo would you say the Solo is on par with the Twin and the other higher end Apollo devices when it comes to recording quality and sound output. Not talking about the plugins, just the basic audio quality and converters.

The "UAD Rec / UAD Mon" buttons at the lower-right do control what plugins get printed to the DAW. However, any plugin in the *Unison* slot *_ALWAYS_* gets printed. This is why the red/blue dots are only on the Insert slots, not the Unison slot.

    1. Can I plug my guitar into my preamp and the line out from the preamp into HI Z input or the inputs in the back?
Basically I want to record my amp into my DAW. One way is to mic the amp and plug that Mic into the line input at the back of Apollo. But suppose I don’t want to mic my amp. How can I introduce my amp in the loop between Apollo and DAW?

I want to use it to record my guitar with UAD plugins loaded onto the interface itself for monitoring (for zero latency) but only record the DI into my DAW (Reaper). How easy/feasible is it to set-up ? Especially since I want to use actual monitors and not headphone.
Will I be able to hear the tracks from my DAW and my guitar sound processed by the Apollo at the same time (while recording the DI) ?

In my experience I get latency when using console and logic. If I try to record a vocal in console with previously recorded backup tracks in logic, I'm will get latency. What you have not explained is all the audio and Io assignments which must be done to make logic run thru the console without latency. I'm still not getting any success with this. I have to import the logic tracks into Luna to get this non latency environment.

The guy at the store told me not to take the twin usb stating that the converter on the newer solo usb3 was better. So I took Apollo usb3. Now I realize that I cannot use fender twin + another dsp demanding plugin like chamber. Can I record with the fender first then apply on the track a chamber after tracking the fender (don t know it there is a lost in quality in reprinting something …? Is it true that for windows I just have the choice between new Apollo solo usb3 and old Apollo twin usb and that the old Apollo twin usb is less good sounding that the new Apollo solo usb3? Thank you very very much if you could answer. At the end of the day all I wanted was a twin Apollo with usb - but he told me he just has older twin usb that we’re less good than the new Apollo. Actually to your question, you can connect external effects like guitar pedals, because I have, but on another sound card, even if you don't have an FX output **
It's an analog option that I much prefer** , you just have to connect in front of the guitar output, or in front of the mic output, works i can vouch for that! A coincidence.

Very thorough! SO here's the deal..tried like hell to get into the Antelope echsystem with the new ZenGo. However, I could never figure out how to get the routing down. The interface is confusing and there just isn't enough info out there to truly help figure it out. I've always wanted the Apollo arrow/Solo anyway but the price was prohibitive. So after dropping 500 bucks for the Zen Go and hating it, I thought what the hell, I shell out another 150 and get the Solo. But the plot thickens because...I went and get the new MacBook 14inch with the new M1 Pro chip. And now I'm scared that I won't get this new Apollo working on with M1 and latest MacOS :( Am I screwed...Musician's Friend is gonna be pissed if I return yet another audio interface!

First, I would tell you to only purchase from Sweetwater because they have the best customer service in the business and they will walk you though the setup if that is required and you can return things 10 times and they are happy to help. if you are concerned about the solo working with the M1 chip, contact U/A support and they can also put your mind at ease. I can tell you that I am certain it will work but you should confirm with the manufacture.

@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy Appreciate your reply!! Too late to purchase from SW already ordered it from Musician's Friend--great outfit as well and their distribution hub is local.. I do have experience with them them..a few big ticket item (keyboards, etc). I've reviewed UAD's website and the caveats and instructions for installing their stuff on the ARM architecture and it seems pretty straight forward. Really psyched to get the Solo!! PS. I just subscribed to your channel :)

I have found that the UA Solo USB-3 sucks. There is nothing you can do about the latency issues it has.

I bought the Apollo Twin USB a couple years back and really love the whole system but cant help but feel that UAD neglects their windows customers. I guess MAC is more standard for higher end studios or music pros @@HomeRecordingMadeEasy

The Apollo solo is great I own it. You can't open more than three plug-ins though because this only has one chip. If you want to open tons of plugins you need to spend a hell of a lot more money and get the quad. Again you can only open up to three plugins with the Apollo solo. There's no point in spending money on all of their very expensive plugins if you can only open three at a time.

    • @HomeRecordingMadeEasy
      @HomeRecordingMadeEasy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It all depends on the plugin you are trying to use. You can 100% open more than 3 1176's or Plutec or LA2a's, you simply can. Each plugin they have takes more or less DSP and yes you are limited with a solo but you can certainly use more than 3 in mixing

Totally understand but I am just making the point that the interface is not the issue. It's not knowing hw to set it up correctly which with Windows based systems is always a challenge. However, if you got an interface that is working for you then that's all that matters.

@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy With the M1 MacBooks coming out I’m afraid that UAD will become obsolete…and they know it. Plugins are catching up, computers are better than ever literally we are living in a generation of Supercomputers. UAD will be like Waves, Slate Digital and Plug-in Alliance one day. You’ve got that from me.
