    I’ve been feeling a bit down lately. So, what to do but watch a crochet video. The music made me cry- my mom’s favorite song ‘Leaning The Everlasting Arms’. She sang quite often in her final weeks. Just a reminder from her I think, I wouldn’t pay much attention except if it showed up in a crochet video.

    Beautiful stitch and so simple. You do something that I would like to try and that is wrapping the yarn around your finger about six times. Going to try that as well. I have crocheted for years so it's nice to see how others do things. You tube is great for that reason. Thanks for showing us.

      Tunisian crochet is a whole craft on its own there are many, many Tunisian stitches and they are all beautiful. I have often used this stitch with worsted weight cotton (Sugar and Cream, etc ) for making hot pads. To counteract the curl that the work naturally has, I border it with a round of slip stitch, the one of single crochet, and finally a round of crab stitch. This gives the hot pad a very finished look as well. It's a very soothing stitch to do, good for nights when you're too agitated to sleep.

    I am not being mean, I promise. I'm trying to give constructive criticism. The title says for beginners and I think I count because I've been crocheting for only 4 months. I got what to do on the chain and then the first row, leaving the stitches on the hook, but after that I was unable to figure out what you were doing. It looked like maybe you were going through 2 loops at a time, but I couldn't tell for sure. May I suggest putting the words (like you had at the beginning of the video) on screen explaining what you're doing? It could get you more views and longer watch times.

      Hello, the number of chains will vary depending on the length you will make. Of course, depending on the thickness of the thread and hook.

    Beautiful and simple yes!! 🙌 this is just a piece of a blanket right?
    Do you have a video where it shows how to continue and finish the blanket?

    • @TubaCrochet
      @TubaCrochet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hello, thank you very much. You need to do it with Tunisian crochet with a line on the back. you can finish the blanket by emptying the loops in the crochet

    I love this stitch! it looks so lovely and it is very addictive! I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong though, I can't seem to get straight edges? everything is tilting, how many stitches are you meant to skip at the beginning and end of every row?

    • @Newtonheimer
      @Newtonheimer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In the beginning she skips the first stitch. Then works one stitch at a time works all the way through to end (going the direction the needle is pointing). Then she works her way back working one stitch, then she works through 2 to the end, and starts going forward again, skipping the first stitch each time she starts that row (again, going in the direction the needle is pointing). Hope this helps. ♥️

      hello 1st place; sink into the first space at the beginning of the row, into the last space at the end of the row. In the 2nd row, in the 2nd space, at the end of the row; 2nd to last space. 3rd place; 1st row again. 4th place; 2nd row again

      @@TubaCrochet thank you for explaining! I’m so sorry! I missed the fact that you skip the first stitch every other row! I’m glad I haven’t gotten past the second row on the throw I just started, lol. Thank you!!! ♥️

      @@grannym2880 I've found another way to create straight edges that may be a little simpler! Alternating rows -
      ROW 1: insert into FIRST gap. At the end of the row, pull through TWO stitches initially, then continue pulling through TWO all the way to the start.
      ROW 2: insert into SECOND gap. At the end of the row, pull through ONE stitch initially, then continue pulling through TWO stitches all the way back to the beginning.
      Then just alternate through like this! Remember, if the row starts in the 1st gap, pull through 2 at the other end. If it starts in the 2nd gap, pull through 1 at the other end. Hope this helps! x

    How would I make a baby blanket? Would it have to be done in strips and then sewn together?

    • @TubaCrochet
      @TubaCrochet  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can make it any way you want. You can make it on a chain as much as the size of the blanket.

    So I was wondering why Tunisian stitches took me so long… I was doing them all wrong! I was going under the top post of each stitch instead of in between the spaces which seems so much faster and makes an equally beautiful weave. Thank you so much!!

      Going under the top loop like you were doing is correct, it's called Tunisian Simple Stitch . This is a different Tunisian stitch - there are many variations 😊

    Beautiful pattern but how long does your crochet hook have to be to make a decent size baby blanket?

    • @TubaCrochet
      @TubaCrochet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A one meter long hook crochet with a gut at the back would be ideal for a hello baby blanket

    Thank you for the simple pattern and easy to follow video. One question though, to make baby blanket, do I just continue to the desired length of chains or do I need to make few then assemble? Thank you once again🥰

      hello, thank you very much. you should make it as a single piece by making chains as long as you want.
