Thank you! Most of the time it's due to either the yarn and hook not being optimal with each other, or, you need to draw up your loops much higher than you think you should. Maybe try a larger hook with the yarn you are using. Some stitches just naturally have a curl to them, in which case a few rows of a single crochet border around the edging helps flatten them down. With Tunisian crochet, I generally opt for a bit of a larger hook than suggested. If you get any worsted weight "regular" yarn in the stores, usually the suggested hook size on the label is something like an I 5.5 mm or J 6 mm hook. It probably would be a good idea to bump that up to a K 6.5 mm hook instead, since Tunisian crochet can curl if the hook is too small and the stitches too tight.

That's up to you and the look you are going for. If you started with a regular single crochet row, then yes, i would put a single crochet edging along the top to match the bottom edge. However if you started with Tunisian immediately with no sc row, then to bind off the top you can do loose slip stitches across as your final row

I was getting confused until I realized... 1st row used 1st space and ended in either space or stitch but second row of pattern skipped first space and did both last space And stitch...simple but makes count correct!

I do have a question, if you are making squares and the pattern calls to do one sc around the entire square (this might be depending on where the end is or unless you cute off then put the border on), would you have to do that sc around the beginning sc row? I hope that makes sense and is not a dumb question. Thank you!
Hi! I generally would put a SC around the 3 sides that don't already have one (and to match the first row, technically you would be putting the SC around facing the "back" or "wrong" side). Then I'd flip the piece around to the correct front side and put a row of single crochet around the entire 4 sides to suffice the pattern's requirement.
For both forward and return passes, I do a yarn over instead of a yarn under. Interesting because I've never tried a yarn under with Tunisian crochet, guess I'll have to do that to see if it produces any different results!

Is it the same process as working in the round where you pull through a certain number of stitches, then turn the work and repeat please? I should probably give it a try myself as it is only a hook and a piece of yarn, no shame in undoing the work and starting again, but there’s no point in it not working and me not knowing any other method. Thank you.
For a large number of stitches with Tunisian crochet, they have an "extended Tunisian hook" available. Basically it's a crochet hook with a long fishing wire attached to the end of it to hold the stitches. You can end on any row's return pass once you have one loop remaining. Fasten off and weave in ends. Or you can place a single crochet border on top to match the bottom.
If you get the adjustable Tunisian crochet hooks, ultimately there's no limit to the number of stitches you can place on them, if you keep adding the extended fishing wire tubes to the end of the Tunisian hook. I think from a reasonable perspective, a king sized bedspread is about the maximum width I'd be comfortable handling.
You are correct. Technically this would not be considered the "Tunisian simple stitch" because we aren't going under the front of each of the loops for the next row. Instead we're going through and in between the loops. Since it is a different position, someone decades ago decided to call this method the "Tunisian full stitch."

I have done this twice tonight and it's time I don't have 20 row 20 on the hook I have 18 I've had 17 I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong
