  • Hey everyone - let's talk about our favorite subject - Poop. We are veteran poop bucket users, but Trelino sent the Evo L to us to review and try out.

The Evo L fits right under the bedrail of the Chevy Colorado zR2 that we are camping in, and seems like it'll have the best capacity for 2 people. Between the 2.6 gallon liquid jug and the 2.6 gallon solid waste holder, we can use this toilet for several days. Compared to the bucket, it is more compact, the lid seals, and having the urine diverter is key to maintaining a less smelly toilet! When using the bucket, we have to pee either before or after pooping, but sometimes this can be difficult. Having the diverter is nice! Keeping the unit clean should be easy, as it is all plastic and comes completely apart.

Nice presentation Greg! The only thing that matters is what is right for you. Hi Jess.

Hahaha hi!! It's true, there are so many options that each person really can find something that's right for them

Glad you said it. That’s a stretch calling that thing a composting toilet. IMO still can’t beat a decent cassette toilet.

Thanks for watching! I haven't seen a composting toilet in vanlife that actually has time to compost if it's being used all the time. We haven't tried a cassette toilet because we don't want to have to be finding dump stations. I've considered one for shorter trips though.

@@DrifterJourney you don't need a dump station with a cassette, just wheel it into any rest stop stall like carry-on luggage.

I didn't know that! Good to know - it definitely sounds more convenient than I thought. Do you have to rinse it out, though?

@@DrifterJourney ideally at some point, but if you're on the go you can just dump in any flush toilet and add a little liquid digester.

Am I missing something? This seems like a really cool product but $600 for a plastic bucket with plastic jugs inside? Are there some electronics that I'm missing, or a bidet feature or a laser light show or something? $600 for this is CRAZY!!!

Thanks for watching! It's definitely on the boujee side as far as pooping goes. Can you really put a price tag on not getting as up close and personal with human waste products? 😉

@@DrifterJourney Yes I can. There's no way I'd pay more than $200 absolute tops for this thing. It's literally well shaped tupperware unless I'm missing something. Very cool, but I won't be getting this pooper and I think the price point is insane!

@bobbthompson I hear you. Some folks love these. We used a Home Depot bucket for 5 years so we understand that there are many ways to do this at all different price points.

Agreed. They priced it this way because they think they have the market cornered. Wait a year for the competition to catch up and get one for 1/3 the cost.

@teegotime I haven't looked too closely but I thought there was already some competition in the space. I wonder if they'll all keep the price point up?

What do the bags cost? Is it one bag per dump? and toss? A casset toilet does that and more.

If its anything like the bucket toilets from Reliance, the bags can last for multiple uses. We use our bucket toilet with he heavy duty, dual seal bags for a weekend for two people without issue.

Thanks for watching. Looks like they sell 10 bags for $7 currently. A quick Amazon search pulled up $15 for 100 of some random composting bags that look to be the same size. We can use one bag for 3-5 days with 2 people. We're personally anti cassette toilet because we don't want to have to be looking for a dump station and I don't believe they last as long between needing to empty.

Glad to have another poop expert in the chat! Team buckets and fancy plastic toilets for the win.
