When the day has come that our children can be massacred at school, and all information regarding the event is politically stonewalled, well, these are dangerous times.
My heartfelt prayers go to everyone involved. May God have mercy.

Its business as usual. People are finding that out tbd hard way. Incompetent dirty police is a nation wide problem and has been for many decades. Even in a case like this with children being allowed to be murdered, there will be no accountability for the police involved. They are accustom to generating revenue and harassing citizens but they are worthless at anything else.

@@elaine170 I reckon she's intending that "these dangerous times" are upon us already. The amount of stonewalling and misinformation and hiding information is stunning. I'm only 26, and I'd be more scared than anything to send my children to school these days. These shootings and these politics are one of the few reasons people in their 20's such as myself just don't want to bring a child into this hell, and certainly not to leave one behind in this hell. I'd only consider it if I lived in Europe most likely. Here in the US, I'm watching my mother slip into dementia unable to support herself and I'm the one who has to support her, the government doesn't. She isn't eligible for disability because she was a stay at home mom and hasn't been able to work the last 10 years. This place is just a mess.

Unbelievable, armed and trained law enforcement, listening to children getting shot in a classroom and literally doing nothing to stop it. You can't just blame the chief of police, each officer could have and should have immediately entered the classroom. Of course the chief is guilty but i believe each officer waiting in the hallway and doing nothing qre also to blame. Our hearts are with the families💛

Amazing how the lady who's suing them for arresting her attempt to save her kids, has already seen a court room and judge. Yet, the body cameras with incriminating evidence of dereliction of duty these officers swore to protect, is being kept away. Amazing the words used against citizens to entice a confessions, are being used against transparency to enforce responsibility and hold accountable the actions. If the local chief couldn’t command that should have immediately been established and a higher law enf agency with a lot more officers should have established command and gotten the shooter. Also in todays world a small department isn’t cutting it for even small towns. The small towns need additional money and resources for more officers. Granted by the Governor. The small towns are always forgotten in this country.

I do not believe he was “promoted”. I believe he had already been elected into that position prior to the massacre. Since he had been elected, it was their lawful duty to swear him in. That’s why the mayor just said, in this video, that he would vote, “yes”, if a vote came to the floor to remove Arredondo. It’s just a matter of process, but it’s more egg on Arredondo’s face that he even accepted the city council position after his abysmal performance at the school.
All this said, I am not here to judge Arredondo. I don’t believe that’s my place. I believe his soul will face his judgment, and God only knows what he’ll go through to atone.

I watched the entire video. The issue at hand was that the police chief of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District had run for and won an election for Uvalde City Council. He is taking lots of flak, and rightly so, for his mishandling of the school shooting. He was sworn in as a city councilman in a private ceremony, and this was the first meeting of the council since he became a member. He was not present and had submitted in writing a request for an extended leave of absence from his council duties. Since he has been on the council for less than eight months, he can't be removed, and the council can't change policy for two years. Public comments overwhelmingly demanded that the council deny the request, saying that the chief could either miss three meetings and be removed for failure to engage or resign voluntarily. The council voted unanimously to deny the request. After that, the Mayor gave this update. Sheds a whole new light on the Director of DPS testifying in Austin before the Texas Senate.

Nuance matters in how a person of leadership responds. There's a difference between saying "I don't have any answers bcuz they didn't give me anything" and then repeatedly elaborate on how much it's their fault and all the runaround you keep getting. Versus "After unsuccessful attempts at obtaining this information from so n so at dps, it remains MY responsibility to YOU as YOUR MAYOR to provide a solution to this, and here are the plans for that..." The intentions might be the same and hopefully a good end result but blame shifting triggers me a bit when it serves no purpose other than to make sure that people know what is NOT your fault. He is addressing the important issue right now tho and that's priority. Everyones doing their best. I can't imagine the pressure of being looked up to for leadership during stressful times.

Isn't one of your councilman the school district chief?

Make sure the Mayor has something to do with that before you ask.

This Mayor, is trying to throw Col. McGraw under the bus. When we all know it was Chief Arrandondo, that failed. The big question is: WHY did he think, he had to get permission? He kept saying he hadn't been given an order? But he'd left his radio outside. And was using his cell phone. He said the reason he left his radio outside, was they didn't always work in the hallways.

He said the radio “got in the way”. What a joke

I don't think Arredondo stopped DPS from entering the 2 rooms, so everyone that was outside the hallway failed those precious kids,!

@@giao2380 I read a very lengthy article where he said "I left my radio's outside b/c they don't always work in the schools". He was using his cellphone. Then when another officer would come in, he'd ask for his radio. I guess, he never got it. I don't know if he did or not.

The lack of comments is baffling to me. Each and every channel has very few comments.
