    The truck: Born from a combination of an '86 2wd from California and an '83 4wd from here in BC the Yeti made his debut in March 2018. He had been semi built by a friend of a friend of mine 5 years prior and sat most of the year only being driven a few times each summer. Before Stacey and I were dating, (I was totally courting her) I took her down to look at the truck with me (she's cool like that). We test drove it, and I new I wanted it, and she knew I was going to buy it. I said to her "this thing is like a sasquatch" and she said "nah, it's more like a Yeti." And so it was from that day forward. Since then he's had some significant upgrades in looks and performance. November 2020 he was rolled in an offroading accident and the cab was replaced with another '86 2wd cab (the blue one).

    Love the progress! Be sure about your decision with running the fuel pump in-line . Most are designed to be pushing fuel and not pulling. They can also run hot when not submersed, and have a short life as a result. My 87 4Runner to my knowledge has the original in the tank with 318K on it. My 02 Ford E350 off road van has 215K on its in tank pump. If you make an access hatch above the tank you can get to the pump and sending unit very easily without dropping the tank.

    • @Scoobienorth
      @Scoobienorth ปีที่แล้ว

      I very much agree. External fuel pumps can be issues like you mentioned. I kinda cringed when they did it. Hopefully it all works out smooth. Love the commitment and the build though.

    • @ToyotaWorldRunners
      @ToyotaWorldRunners  ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Valid points about the fuel pump. I've had 2 Toyota in tank pumps leave me stranded with no spare. Since then I've always ran in-line pumps and carry a spare. We'll have a spare with us in the Chinook. Also, I wouldn't want an access hatch through our 2" finished floor, also also I don't know for sure, but I think there's a lot more generic in-line pumps in South America then there are 92 suburban ones 😅 Always appreciate others experience and perspectives. Thank you for watching and commenting Michael!

    I was thinking if there's a way to prevent your truck / car from flipping over ?! . out in the mountains ? On roads that have deep ditches ! . And or to keep your land Rover from getting tipped / truck ? Maybe car if it's on a thin road with steep ditches !? .
