I was hesitant to do this work myself, I'm closing in on 65 years of age, and though I have done just about all one can do with regards to repairing cars, wasn't sure I wanted to tackle this. The video is great, but the parts seemed a bit buried but was surprised when I actually looked at where they were I thought, what the hell, I'll give it a go. It all went very smooth and had no problems. I did not have as long an extension available but found out I could reach the 10-mil bolt by removing the inner wheel well section that you have to remove to change the oil filter. That gave me enough room to use the 2 short extensions that I do own. Thanks for the vid, very helpful!
Appreciate the video. I just did the job in about 2 hours start to finish. I had one of these fail about 1.5 years ago and decided to just replace all 3 this time. Solenoids were $30 each from rock auto. I ended up not taking the motor mount fully off (after struggling to get it past the AC lines). I accessed the front 2 from the bottom, and the rear 1 from the top, jacking the engine up and down as needed.
Just wanted to say THANK YOU!! for the instructions. I had the P0011 code and this seemed to fix it. The car was running really rough during low speeds and even stalling. Now my 180k mile rogue drives like its brand new. This video made me a lot more confident in doing this job although I had the misfortune of braking the bolt holding the exhaust solenoid when I was loosing it, but by the grace of God was able to slowly get it out and throw in a new one.😅😅. .
Alright. Glad i was able to help. Enjoy. I have 180k on my vehicle as well now. Still going strong despite so many people say negativity towards Nissans. This is my biggest repair
I’m working on one with circuit codes for all three vvt solenoids has anyone ran into this, chaffed wiring? Vehicle has 50k miles on it. I found the wiring harness behind the valve cover on the intake side and near the throttle body was chaffed and shorting out on a bolt, which blew a 10 amp fuse in the integrated distribution module. All three vvt solenoids and the evap vent control solenoid share a circuit and all is fixed. I hope this will help someone in the future.
You did an excellent diy job. That said, no way I would attempt it, out of my skill/ability range. My thought, might as well replace all three solenoids while there. I would think doing the job on a lift would help especially working from the back. I'm wondering what the average cost range is to have it done at a shop. Nice diy vid.
@@mrOnlinePolice I'm a senior so I estimate my capabilities based on some experience. Replacing the three solenoids in a vacuum, no biggie. But I've watched multiple videos on their replacement. No way I would attempt it from the top. The one youtube I saw, mech had it on a lift and worked from underneath using long extensions. Even that was a pita as mech stated, but it looked easier that any attempt from top.
may be not a bad idea if you are keeping your car for a while. On other hand, I've heard that if you change your oil, it may go away. When i took apart my old one, i saw nothing that would make it stick.
@mrOnlinePolice Does this car have an EGR Valve? I can't find literally anything online. It's actually giving me a migraine. If anyone else knows that would be great too.
I've got to do the same repair; my only concern is putting the car on jack stands and then cranking the engine up and down as needed being a safety hazard. I'd also like to remove the passenger side wheel to facilitate access. I intend to replace all 3 with Dorman valves. Anyone have any advice? (error P0300 and P0011, 2015 Rogue).
someone commented here that he did not remove that engine mount at all. Simply did everything from underneath the car. The only issue i see with that is cracking those valves loose as they seem to have a mechanical bond. Not a bad method to start with. You can always remove the engine mount if that doesn't work. After all, this job is a 3 out of 10 on complexity.
I had p0014 code in my wifes 2015 rouge, so i changed the oil first and the problem persisted. When i checjed the code again, i had code 052b. Im wondering if i should change all 3. Im going to run an engine flush and change the oil again before i buy any solenoids.
My rogue is running just like that now. Im not gonna have any time this whole week to fixed. Do you think thats gonna hurt the engine if i runnid for a while?
@@mrOnlinePolice oh ok. I'm not worry about tve mpg but i really don't want hurt the engine somehow. I guess i better dont drive this thing. Thanks for the video tho. now i know how to get it fix.
Thank you for the video. about to do the same on my rogue this week, if you have to do it again, do you think you can change them without jacking up the engine / removing the engine mount? since you can remove the bolts from under the car?
I think I could try, removing the bolts is possible, but removing the solenoid is questionable. Installing a new solenoid would be the hardest. There's nothing to loose trying it your way. Please let us know if it worked.
I simply installed the new one towards the back and used a good used one towards the front. That way, if one fails again, it would most likely be an older one, and it's in the location where I don't have to work as much to get to it
The way Nissan designed the engine bay feels like suicide-class design. Getting into this thing has been absolute cancer. Your video is helpful but makes me frustrated with Nissan.
P0014 is the Exhaust Side Solenoid and you put new one in Intake and moved used one to Exhaust you took out of Intake side. As per your diagram first from back is Intake Lock then Intake then Exhaust at front of engine. Would it not be better to put new one in Exhaust that is causing code? Explain this does not make sense like putting used part in issue area . Rest of video is great .

Thank you. Your step-by-step instruction and editing are award-winning.
Thank you for your feedback. Enjoy
Thanks! FYI to anyone trying this. A 36 inch extension works perfect. Got one at a local auto parts store.
Thank you

When eyes are afraid, hand just do it. But I agree it is a little complicated for a beginner

I have no code , I have a bank 1 monitor vvt fail. Is this what it could be ? It’s a 2015 Nissan Rogue. 77,000 miles.
Great video. Think i am going to do all three to save me doing this job again. I have p0011 code which i think is just the middle one.

You video really help me out thank you. I did it on my 2015 Nissan rogue
Glad to hear that. Enjoy the smooth ride

Are all three vvt sensors the same part number?
That i would not be able to tell you. I forgot if they are.
My rogue is running just like that now. Im not gonna have any time this whole week to fixed. Do you think thats gonna hurt the engine if i runnid for a while?
I dont know to be honest. At the very least you will have worse fuel mileage. What's the worse that can happen, I would not be able to tell you

@@johnwillyn only thing I can say, and I don't advise doing this, I drove mine for 440 miles. It stopped at some point and appeared again.
@@mrOnlinePolice 😅 sorry. but what do stop the engine or the issue?
@@mrOnlinePolice replace 3 at same time?
How did you know which one was bad ?
I read the check engine light fault description and then matched it to the description I have at the drawing presented at 1:56
His code was pointing at the exhaust one which is on the one closest to the exhaust side of the head
Thanks for replying!
Id say You replace all 3 that way you don't have to worry

great video! Did you pray when to started to unbolt the 10mm holding the solenoid?😁
I do remember something about that screw. I think it was a bit rusty and crusty
The real question is, how the hell did you locate your 10mm socket???
great video, however I disagree about not changing the O ring. for qa few cents it's well worth doing..
Agree.
Nice.....😊

Any reason why you replaced them all? P0014 is the one closest to front. Could you just change that front one?!

Good job.

Cómo se llama la pieza
I have different translations for what you said. Can someone explain what she is asking please?
What is the name of the part, is what she is asking.
The mechanics here charge $900 to replace these parts.
With how labor intensive it is, I could see that. I would think having access to lift would be very helpful.
did all this and recorded my video in less than 3 hours not knowing what I was doing
thankyou
Absolutely. Hope it helped and wasn't confusing
