  • Warranty call on a Delfield cooler. Performed my non-invasive tests, and it led me to believe the unit was low on charge. Put a temporary tap on the unit and added some R290 to get my pressures up. Utilized the inficon gasmate to try to locate the leak in the condensing area, but no luck. Pulled evaporator cover and knocked some ice off of the txv, and Ray Charles could see that leak. Parts on order

just did the same repair on the same exact unit a couple weeks ago. Had a training a few weeks later from Delfield and they hypersonically weld the joints or something like that. I forget the exact term but those stubs are welded

I have a customer with a year old R290 Delfield pizza prep that was cooling the top rail but not the box. I found the solenoid not working to the box, but since I’m not “certified” by Delfield I could not do the work under warranty for customer. Last week while fixing the beer cooler another Delfield certified tech was working on the unit to replace solenoid & cap tube. I had my sniffer out for my repairs and he said he never uses one for R290/R600 systems. He then took out his lighter and showed me how he checked, old school, like checking gas lines, lol.

is that propane just spewing out of that pipe ? at the end of video. that units only 2 years old ? should be under warranty i'd think. a lot of stuff going on in that unit. wow.

Leaks are not covered by warranty after the first year of use. Leaks will cause compressor failures and compressor would be covered but because leaks are more likely than compressor failures due to leaks the manufacturer won't cover the cause but will cover the result due to what they don't cover. This seems backwards to me but who am I just the service guy repairing the cause and the effect.
