Thank you! Just returned from California. I used BART from SFO to Embarcadero, then from Embarcadero to Richmond to get on my Amtrak train. I used this video as a reference. Very useful.
This video is super useful, I will travel to San Francisco from Italy in 2 weeks and was already thinking about gettin an UBER, but now that I'm seeing it is so easy to use the BART, I will make the most sustainable (and cheapest) choice 😂
Good to know Mark - I didn't get to use the BART when I first went to SF & the Air Train was not even constructed. Good to see 2 very efficient & effective transit systems in place of the automobile. Technology is great when it works & can be frustrating when it doesn't!
Mark is it true that now you don’t even need to open wallet on the iPhone? You just tap the phone even locked and it works? I’ll be trying it tomorrow. I live in SF, say hello if you come through again ❤
There are definitely escalators at the airport end, but the other stations it may not be so easy. If your bags are very large or you can't handle them well, i'd probably not risk it. If you can wheel them ok on an escalator though, it should be ok. I think, but not sure that there are elevators
Last question do they also say over the intercom that you’re reaching Embarcado? I did see like one little sign when you got off but I’m curious as to how you know your actually there it’s my first time going on this tomorrow and I’m super nervous, so I’m watching this video over and over again. 😂
It's all very clear. Signs are large and you have no danger of missing your stop. If I remember correctly, there's also an indicator board on the train as well. You have no worries about missing your stop. It's actually something I get paranoid about.
Thank you so much. I am so happy that I came across this video because it’s actually giving me the courage to do it. Otherwise a really really expensive Uber that I do not want to buy.
@@TravelwithMark Like all big metro areas the SF Bay has its issues with homelessness and cleanliness. But BART has been doing pretty good lately at keeping the system clean and safe. This doesn't mean that it's always immaculate, but it's overall a very good system to get around the Bay. Riding at night is hit and miss though.
Hi there I saw people wearing a face mask 😷, is this mandatory? Where do you buy your clipper card? The you use your clipper card on the F tram 🚋 on market street? Thanks for the info.
Hi, no masks are not required now. Some people wear them due to their sense of civic responsibility. You can download the app for the card. Everything can be done on your personal tracking device (aka phone)
The Clipper Card or the digital Clipper version on your phone can be used to pay for almost any type of transit in the nine-county Bay Area, which is an area roughly half the size of Switzerland. So once you get a Clipper card you don't need to worry about buying any type of ticket to ride transit. This includes the subways, trams, commuter rail, busses, ferries, cable cars, and even some types of intercity rail that stays within the broader Bay region. Starting next year you'll also be able to just use any RFID credit card to pay instead of a clipper card. Currently this is only available on the Capitol Corridor trains, but is being rolled out system-wide.
@@TravelwithMark Yes, something like that but on a much larger scale. It covers literally everything from busses to intercity trains and is available to a population of about 10 million on an area the size of midsize European country.
@@TohaBgood2 here in Nederland we already use this system on buses 🚌 trains 🚊 and Trams 🚋. We can use our debit or credit card 💳 to pay! Safe and easy 🥇🥇
Thank you! I haven't been there in years, so it's nice to see how the airport & BART look now.

I was surprised how fast, clean and efficient the BART was Dennis. I guess I’m used to the New York subway
This is an excellent tutorial. Thanks.😊
Glad it was helpful!

Danke Schön

Im traveling in two days and saw this video! The BART seems OK compared to what people say 😮
It's perfectly acceptable. No safety issues that I could see and easy to use.
Thank you so much for your video! I’m wondering if I have 2 luggage with me, is it still as easy to take BART to get to the downtown?

OK so when you went on the free air train, how did you know where to get off at for the actual BART?? There was literally no signs
There are signs all over the place telling you where to catch the BART

i suspect the reason the ticket didnt work is you did it screen down. the best way is the top back of the the phone one the reader.
Hi Mark was the train clean and safe?
Yes it was. You hear so many things about San Francisco being unsafe with homelessness and crime, but I didn't see any of that

@@TohaBgood2 it is definitely better than many others. New York is definitely worse than this.
sorry mark, this is alex if you remember me and i dont think ill be able to make the sunset; cool channel tho
No worries Alex
You did well considering the terrible signage.
Room for improvement there for sure!

@TohaBgood2 that will be excellent. Will soon catch up with Sydney, where that is already possible 😀
