If they're already making a new game, it'll probably be around 4-5 years from now. The last 2 games were around 4 years apart themselves but Ragnarok already had the framework done with 2018. If they're starting from scratch for new game direction and mechanics, it will probably take around 5-6.
3 years were they meant to be apart. It was because of Judge's surgeries and the difficulties of COVID that the last game was postponed to one more year as initially it was planned for 2021. There's no more of that 4-5 years each game, the industry is moving faster and if any studios want to have a brighter future they gotta move fast and they know it.

I really don’t ever see Santa Monica squeezing these out like cod. They put so much more into these games. I love cod. But the story and in-depthness is why god of war is my all time favorite

1:10 I THINK the reason why it's happening so fast it's because before Norse Duology they wanted to go with Egypt, and since Santa Monica Studios has already done some Egypt content they don't have to start from scratch.Therfore doing the process of making the game faster.
Thing is, the Egyptian gods are not evil. Even Mimir straight up states they're aren't like other pantheons. They're more out there, cosmological star deities. Also duality is huge in Ancient Egypt. Thoth is more than willing to help out Kratos without an evil scheme. The only two evil chaotic deities in the Netjer-Netjeru (proper name of Egyptian pantheon) are Set and Apep. Only the StarGate franchise portrays the entire pantheon as humanoid aliens posing as false gods, hellbent on intergalactic slavery and dominon. It gets done to death. Contrary to what a lot of people believe, the Egyptian Gods (minus Apep and Set) are extremely obsessed with universal balance, justice and harmony and don't have their heads up their asses. They would have extremely disliked what Zeus and Odin were doing to Kratos.
it may sound stupid but in god of war 2018 they gave the release date of ragnarok , after killing buldur i remember mimir saying after 3 winters ragnarok will come(it got delayed cause of Christopher Judge's injure) so maybe they hinted smth in ragnarok as well
According to the writers the Pantheons are afraid of Kratos after the Fall of Olympus and now with the Fall of Asgard they will see Kratos like a definitive threat for all of them. This will cause a multi-pantheon War and don't forget Athena and The Higher Existence , who will be probably the villains of Next Saga. And Cory confirmed that two Sister of Fate are still alive but trapped and in waiting for revenge against Kratos , so there is a lot to explore for Kratos story.

Am beyond hyped for this, also am 100% sure Santamonica will not turn this to an annual thing where they just squeeze things, God of war has always been so deep and the characters are so real and the storyline is amazing you can tell it's made with absolute heart and love and it will take at least 4 to 5 years to see another god of war so am absolutely excited and can't wait to see what they'll bring and I'll pre-order as always because they deserved every penny 100%

Even with the game’s seemingly coming out more frequently, I’ve stuck around in the community of god of war and Cory barlog/ Santa Monica that even if it becomes more frequent, I 100% trust everything they do, I have thousands of hours in GoW4 and still play ragnarök, 4 was my favorite game of all time and ragnarök had improvements in every way, and it’s the best story I’ve ever witnessed in fiction, granted the game I think they’re probably working on is an atreus side game, and then work on Kratos’ story down the line, but still, idc when the next god of war related game comes out, they got my money
Got to think about it too that there are a lot of unused contents/concepts etc between 2018 and Ragnarok. Instead of dumping those and starting from scratch, it is more viable for Santa Monica to repurpose those elements and make another game for GOW.
He's going to use his knowledge of magic and forgery and become a physical force to wreck with. His character development, though sad, was wonderful to watch. Love the theme of family and loss in this series. Great writing

one thing I wish the next gow would put much care on, big creatures and things happening in the background!. Titans, colossal, hydras, gods fighting. I know gow 2018 and ragnarok have some and mostly at the end, but I remember they talk about when making the Colossus in gow 2, it's actually a hard thing to do. So now we have a great technology on our hands, imagine you just walking in the world and you just see a random giant creature walking in the background or even passing by!. Possibly an enemy that you can come to and fight, not just stationary or for a cutscene like Jörmungandr. Give the world more life, eerie (cause of render distance, you usually only see the silhouette), and mythology feeling to it.

I am pretty sure the next game will br bigger and better so that means it will take longer to develop so we will probably get the next game in 4-5 years, that is if they don't go for a full and expensive open world which could literally make GOW 6 be released for PS6. Also i should say that they could be looking for people to work on the atreus stand alone which could be way smaller and be released in the next 2-3 years.(and seeing how sony is making things i think they will want to go the same route as spiderman 2 so in gow 6 you can switch between kratos and atreus whenever you want)
Very excited for a new game but I really would love a DLC as well. The amount of money they would make should easily be able to justify it and there is still so much story to tell.

I’m honestly excited but not to the extent that i would’ve been had Ragnarok been a better game, don’t get me wrong Ragnarok is a great game but story wise, felt rushed in places (specially ragnarok event, the Ironwood part was literally longer than the anticipated end of the world, the end was lacking a bit of spectacle and collateral destruction and we didn’t get to see an army of giants fighting, most of us were expecting GOW 3 type war), we didn’t get answers for major things that occurred in the previous game. All this to say I’m excited but I’m managing my expectations

This false belief leads to a tense and dramatic confrontation between Sindri and Atreus eventually leading to a fight but at the end he eventually realises atreus isn't responsible for brok's death (but that's JUST A THEORY A GAME THEORY)

Tbh i think that the fact that they ae working on the game rn is not odd my only worry is where are they gonna go next. I am a junior artist in game dev and for what i've seen it's totally common for a studio to be working on a sequel not long after and sometime thay even start working on it toward the end of the production and near the alpha. as for this new gow game i honestly think they are not gonna show it this year or next but the one after and it might release in only 4 to 5 years depending on when they started the dev.

Cory Barlog has confirmed years ago that Kratos needs several games to figure out who really is and Eric Williams say that the Path that Kratos mentions in the End of Ragnarok isn't only about on post-story missions but even for the Next Saga. There are still Athena and The Higher Existence to explore, the reaction of other Pantheons against Kratos after the Fall of Olympus and Asgard will probably cause a multi-pantheon War and Cory even said that the two Sister of Fate are still alive but trapped and in waiting for revenge against Kratos. There are still a lot of things to explore with Kratos, he still has the Ashes, the Blades and the curse who don't let him to die. Only when he will be free from all of these, he will have peace. Tbh i think that the fact that they ae working on the game rn is not odd my only worry is where are they gonna go next. I am a junior artist in game dev and for what i've seen it's totally common for a studio to be working on a sequel not long after and sometime thay even start working on it toward the end of the production and near the alpha. as for this new gow game i honestly think they are not gonna show it this year or next but the one after and it might release in only 4 to 5 years depending on when they started the dev.

Bruh they've made 2 games in the course of 10+ years... this is nothing like a COD yearly situation
maybe theyre just making the atreus spinoff, but if it is gow 6 then its kinda disappointing that they didnt mention anything about the old gow games and how they worked. dont get me wrong, i love the new games too, actually more than the old ones, but just a mix of the two formulas would be even better
i think each 2year new gow game would be good.

Wdym lol, them starting work on the sequel right away isn't straight up a sign of shoddy dev practices, if they were sloppily throwing a game out in 2 years then it would be. SMS only shows true dedication to nonstop spending their lives making this story we all consume so much. Really.hoping for GoW6 to go smoothly so we get more details than ragnarok gave us

Cory Barlog has confirmed years ago that Kratos needs several games to figure out who really is and Eric Williams say that the Path that Kratos mentions in the End of Ragnarok isn't only about on post-story missions but even for the Next Saga. There are still Athena and The Higher Existence to explore, the reaction of other Pantheons against Kratos after the Fall of Olympus and Asgard will probably cause a multi-pantheon War and Cory even said that the two Sister of Fate are still alive but trapped and in waiting for revenge against Kratos. There are still a lot of things to explore with Kratos, he still has the Ashes, the Blades and the curse who don't let him to die. Only when he will be free from all of these, he will have peace. And Cory Barlog said that Kratos is God of War and withuot him can't be God of War.
Unreal Engine 5 will be a game changer ….. already beautiful games , but cannot wait to see games done with Unreal 5 in the future
I agree it'll be probably another 3 to 5 years before the next six of God of war comes out because if you all remember especially on three we were supposed to have it the year after 2 came out but they kept pulling it back because it wasn't to The gamers expectations every time they did a fan like someone check it out and see how it was doing it it didn't set that expectation so they pulled it back and made sure that it did so that's what they're going to do with this next one and I hope they do because
If there is another game in devlpment won't be for a while. Game Development does take a lot of time and in addition to improved combat I expect they will be improving the graphics. So I don't think this will be like modern call of duty
