I think that Alfheim and The Crater were essentially alpha tests for an Egypt-like setting, at least partially so they'd see what people would think about them
That’s kind of my main concern, I just get bored of the obligatory but iconic desert areas in video games. It’ll be hard to hit that desert aesthetic and still make it look nice and be full of stuff. That’s why I really wanted Aztec or Mayan, it’d make for such a beautiful setting toss in some rich basically rain forest type locations it’d be nice
Ok, hear me out, Atreus goes to Egypt in search of hiding giants. The gods there notice him and know he is Kratos’s son. In fear of what happened in Greece and Norse, they take Atreus prisoner thinking he may be a spy for his father. They think an attack is coming and decide to strike first so they attack Midgard. Cut to Kratos who, after fending off the attack, finds out Atreus is captured. So he, Freya, Mimir, and Tyr all set off to Egypt to rescue him. And just to make it badass, they ride Fenrir through a realm tear to get there. I’m probably no where close to what they actually have planned, but I think that would make a hell of a start to a new game
Yeah I can easy seeing that happing. No doubt the Gods would be worried as not only did a mortal kill a God of War and take his Throne, but now has destroyed two Pantheons. Remember Mimir reveal that though all pantheons knew of the Ghost of Sparta, they don’t know the reason or why he did what he did. So then taking Atreus and trying to use him as bargaining chip for their own safety is something I would see many doing.
@@vimalramesh9891 He destroyed the Aesir pantheon; which was the stronger pantheon between them and the Vanir. Asgard had clutches on all realms; Vanaheim was struggling to keep the Vanir In power.
Yeah nah I don’t think that can happen, fenrir can travel through tears yes, but I don’t think he can just teleport to other lands far far away. Only in the nine realms and Helheim I’m assuming. But it does sound engaging. Have the trio of kratos, Freya, and mimir.
The only Egyptian God that can draw a parallel to Norse Loki is Set. Set is said to be a shapeshifter able to even shapeshift into animals that don't belong to Egypt (like a bear for example, which we know Atreus can do). Set was also known as the God of Foreigners, which is obviously Atreus from foreign lands. Set was also God of Desert, probably because Atreus traveled through the desert to reach Egypt. Set was also God of Disorder, which is what Loki also does. Loki had been painted in a bad light due to starting Ragnarok and creating disorder, but in truth Loki had been the one who caused change. A revolution, even if it was a bloody one, in order to right the wrongs of the pantheon. Hence the word Disorder. Perhaps from the perspective from the mortals, everything was fine and peaceful until Loki/Set came along and turned everything into chaos, and hence the title for Disorder. Set also helped Ra defeat the Chaos Serpent Apophis that was supposed to devour Egypt at night. Atreus being a hero, definitely will help in such an endeavor.
I think I'm one of those that can't let go of Kratos just yet. Wether it's a fully fleshed out game or a cameo in an Atreus spin-off. Egypt would be a great next choice although it might be a bit too brutal for a young Atreus unless...they pull off a time-skip where we'd see a mature/even more expierced 'Loki'. There should be no reason to let go. Kratos is God of War. God of War is Kratos. If they decide that its not the case then farewell to this franchise. I'll just replay older games. Ragnarok was already full of unnecessary amounts of atreus linear missions. Its like they cant wait to throw kratos to the bin so they can make their new next thing.
Dude, I feel you.I missed the interview where this particular saga they were starting in 2018 was the first of six planned games across different pantheons, so i thought Ragnarok was gonna be the finale for Kratos and the heavy foreshadowing of his death early on in the game had me convinced.
Maybe the Egyptian gods will see a weakness in the Norse pantheon with the death of several of it’s most powerful gods and they will try to take it over and Kratos will have to travel to Egypt and take the fight to them or something along those lines
That would be a cool way to flip the series on its head while keeping the typical God of War fun. The Nine Realms are now under Kratos' protection and he is responsible for fighting off invaders, as opposed to being the destroyer that he used to be.
There is no way Cory isn't going to be the director of the next main game. Even if Eric directed this one, Cory made Eric prep it for him to take over after. He gave him 3 main point of the story he must follow and they were: Brok dies, Ragnarok happens, Atreus leaves. Clearly the story is fleshed out by Cory and he knows where its heading to. I think Mihir Sheth could direct a spinoff most likely.
Cory is busy directing a new IP from Santa Monica. God of War always has a different director; Cory only returned for 2018 because they were desperate to revitalize the franchise
i feel like Celtic Mythology makes a lot of sense as well considering Mimir in the god of war universe is from there. Maybe something is going on there and mimir will ask the help of Kratos to help him save his world the same way he help Kratos with his journey in norse mythology and Kratos who now considers Mimir as family would be willing to repay the favor. But i really want to see egyptian mythology first then either Celtic or Aztec mythos. or they could do both, Kratos goes to one pantheon and Atreus to another one

Egypt mythology is one my favourites. I would love to see in god of war series. They could use the ideas they had original for it and incorporate them in new way. Could that either Atreus goes there and sends a letter to Kratos for assistance. They could also make that a god ask Kratos to help save their realm since he has been there before. While being there we could find clues that Atreus visited that realm as well and is searching for something as well.
I don't know if anyone has noticed that but there are Greek words on the mask and it says: "On the of fire and on the obsidian spark. Battlefield never happened" probably referring to the fact that we found a piece of the mask on Muspelheim. There also other languages there that I cannot translate but yeah.
There is a tremendous amount of hints at Egypt in the 2018 game. A lesser known one is a mural found in the elevator down to Tyrs vault, which shows tyr traveling to Greece, Egypt, Japan and to the Incas (in order)
I think in Egypt. We'll see tons of new Egyptian gods. But there is is a possibility that we see, Roman gods. Basically revised Greek Gods getting revenge to what Kratos did. So Kratos most definitely has to be the protagonist.
Wouldn’t it be Greek Egyptian hybrid gods due to synchronising rather then Romans? While God of war isn’t the best with human history I doubt the 100 years after God of War 3 means we are in the AD/CE. So if there is Greek influence in River Empire it would be from Alexander the Great if mistaken(I’m still learning about ancient history). So maybe the Thoery that Typhon in God of War was actually Kratos would mean the Gods who survived GOW3 would be hiding in Egypt as animals, that works since in GOW: Fallen God, the Egyptian God of wisdom is seen and is not only Aware of Kratos’s unknown destiny but working alongside Athena.
As far as next installments go, it's either: 1. A spinoff game with Atreus. 2. A new game featuring a new pantheon 3. A prequel game building up events before GOW 2018, as well as answering past unanswered questions.
My theory is we'll get a spinoff game for loki based in Egypt, Loki basically said he's gonna travel the world looking for giants, maybe Egypt is where some of them escaped to, and I think Kratos will stay closer to the Norse realm going to Celtic mythology next due to the power vacuum left by Odin, and we already have plenty of references to Celtics, Mimir Is from Celtic mythology, so are kelipies, maybe the celtic world will bleed into the Norse realm
Celtic is much too linear and similar to Norse Mythology for it to be the next pantheon. It's either going to be in Egypt or Japan, since those two are the pantheons from Tyr's secret mural that we haven't had games of yet. Though I still hope there will be a Spin Offs of Faye and Atreus. Atreus befriending Wukong would probably be one of the coolest ideas of a Gow Game.
I really hope Egypt has an impactful scene for god of war and also depends how far they want to travel, i'm from Latinoamerica and Mayan/Aztec mythology is incredible rich they could take advantage of that.

The video itself will, mostly be negative, but I did wanted to hear some positive points from the fans of the game. I know that you already did a review on the game, but somethings more specific are: - What do you think the arc of Kratos and Atreus was - Where did the arc of the main characters begin - Can you tell me what the villains means or represents for one of the game's heroes - Do you think the Norse Saga benefited or suffered under the two game narative
as much i like the next game being in India but the studio could get a lot of backlash from the Hindu community, Gods in India can be very precious to a lot of people seeing them in a game potentially dying can get people mad, An Atreus game focused more on exploration and puzzle solving (like tomb raider) un covering antient history of India can be good. India too has some history of giants / giant gods (maybe there can be a link there) and as for Kratos the game can focus on Egypt like you said.
I certainly hope it's not based on a religion that is actively practiced till this day. We don't want any controversy or negativity surrounding a great series like this.
A god of war prediction: Atreus will go to Egypt and he'll go to a pyramid (middle game) and he will fight a robot boss and when he defeats it, it will actually be Sindri and when we help him we will become "friends" again. Let me now what you think.
It could just be in order of which pantheon comes after Egypt, as well as in 2018 where we see the other symbols of war from other religions. It could be that Santa Monica has planed way further than most suspect.
Maybe since the giants helped build the pyramids Atreus goes to that pantheon (Egypt) when he has to go find them. He somehow gets in trouble and Kratos has to travel there (Mimir goes with of course) to save Atreus and gets wrapped up in the mythology as he does.
I am from India and part of the Hindu Community, I can confirm that, even I would like to God of War be made about the Hindu Pantheon, its just not possible because people in this part of the world and just too sensitive about gods. Any small factor can lead to crying and outrage from the entire community which is why us Indians can never make or get a game made about our mythologies, just like Black Myth Wukong.
I wish they would do something like to where kratos returns to greece.... theres one thing that could make this go well: In god of war 1 if you beat the game on the hardest diff you get a phone number its just kratos giving a tour of his throne room but in one area he says he can hear ares soul whispering to him... maybe ares could come back to life and that could be the boss fight
Also ares body could be seen in God of War 3. Also again, a lot of people have said this but they could easy have that the surviving Gods could become the Roman Gods.
I REALLY would like to see japan. They have some really awesome gods with crazy abilities. Also you have tons of possibilities with different yokai for enemies.
I'm betting they're going to make a larger over arching pantheon be the next antagonists. The mask and the rift won't just be thrown away. Clearly those are from more ancient powers. I think we might see a game with Atreus in the celtic realm and Kratos exploring the Egyptian realm, or some other pantheon, with Atreus with Agrabhoda or however you spell his name, and Kratos and Freya
I really hope that people keep an eye on the ip “god of mischief” and if anyone has it or if it’s available. If it’s ever listed as owned by Sony then that’s a huge giveaway for if they are going in the Atreus direction with the main series.

I’ve seen other realms of content on TH-cam use this, I’ll try to look into it but I could be wrong at the end of the day so take this with a grain of salt lol. Love your vids btw I haven’t seen anyone else discuss this games lore to the extent you have and it’s much appreciated.

It’s heartbreaking if they leave the Norse mythology behind, there’s so much more to cover, so many questions unanswered. I’m all for a new mythology but we need a closer to this one just like we had for Greek mythology
On the same hand that so much of the ending of Ragnarok felt final, and the new Valhalla DLC felt so final it was like a funeral for Kratos (as in he peaked and reached the end of his character arc) the writing of 2018 and Ragnarok left so many oddly loose ends. It’s highly confusing what they plan to do with the series, that’s corporations for ya they just need every option as a contingency at the cost of story
I had a thought dunno if youll comment on it, i feel like youre the go to on all gow theories, but would you say kratos has taken his role again as gow of the norse lands now? As atreus said at the first mural tyr was gonna be the person to lead the fight to ragnarok, but it turned out be kratos holding the horn and leading the fight, and being loved like tyr was has he become the god of war he wants rather than a god of war of pure violence and hatred. Tyr seems occupied post game with other things while kratos seems to have truly taken the role of "alpha god" in the norse lands but a loved one, like tyr.
I hope they include actual jumping in the next games starting with the Atreus spinoff (possibly). Would like them to spice up the gameplay and traversal a bit
You can’t call a game, “God of War” without the God of War. If they use Atreus for the protagonist of a spinoff series and call it “Loki” I’m all for it, but no one can take Kratos’ place in God of War
I'd like the God of War series to center around Kratos. The story is diverting in many different directions. I'd love to know more about Faye, but in context of Kratos. That means no spin offs that I am hooting for.
I didn’t watch this whole video, but I remember there’s a point in Ragnorok where they find an “artifact” and talk about ancient Egypt and how Kratos or someone always wanted to go. And I was like, yup.

@Kartik Kumar See, Kratos can't even touch Bhrahma, Vishnu and Shiva because of their power level at a universal level. So if Kratos kills any gods, it would be from Swarga like the gods Indra, Varun and Agni, cause their power levels are similar to those of Greek God's power levels.
@Fussybooky RiotRcs Cow isn't a God, man. It's an animal which provides us dairy products and in the ancient times, it's dung was used as fuel for cooking and other purposes. Because it have a lot of usability, we praised it from that time and don't intend to harm any other animal.
So you find TYR IN 6 realms, After Niflheim prison. Out of the 6, 4 of the animations are oriented looking at specific directions. Those are S,S,SW,SE. out of those 4. The 2 that are oriented DIRECTLY south are the Sun Pose from tai chi. And the White Crane Pose also Tai Chi. So everyone is saying "Chinese,Hindu, Buddhism". When really it's the poses themselves that hold the answer. Ra, is the Egyptian god of the SUN and all creation. Toth is the Egyptian god of knowledge, and is depicted as a WHITE CRANE. (Kratos has met him) Maybe its far fetched or crazy. Idk maybe its just my paranoia kicking in
I think they could really cook with Atreus in Greece Spinoff. His Potential in a hack and slash game is intense and could (possibly) return the Blades of Twilight concept into something distinctly different. (The amount of Leftover Gods is just insane)
The best start for the next game would be atreues in chains somewhere and after being tortured for year's he somehow calls the axe and this leads to Kratos going on a mission to find the axe and atreus.
I think that it'll be separated into two chapters, one being Atreus' journey to Jotünheim to help his people, maybe show him growing into a man, even stronger than he was in Ragnarök, before reuniting with his father some years later, finding that Kratos has become the new All-Father, and them going on another journey together to make up for lost time, ending up in Egypt, maybe helping Amon and the other gods to stop Set from destroying everything, a parallel to the destructive lunatic Kratos was in God of War 3.
OK, but here is my question he’s from the Greek pantheon, correct we know this, but since in mythology, the Roman and Greek sides of the gods are different aspects and iterations, so could technically Kratos fight the Roman version of his father, and all the other gods? Or do you think the mythologies changed in this universe?

Solo Kratos adventure in Egypt.. (setting is Kratos gets to learn from Tyr that Faye can be brought back with the help of Egyptian Gods).. Sindri can also have the same motive to bring Brok back..

How’d you lose interest in the game after Ragnarok? I suppose in some ways the ending was a bit underwhelming but the game is so good it completely reinvigorated my interest in the series
I think this one is very obvious. Egypt is going to be a direct sequel to GoW 3 and prequel to 2018. Considering it as an Ascension to new series in the franchise. I also think that Egypt will have at least 2 games. The story will start with what we saw in the comic series and will probably expand it. Connection of Athena and Toth to the Higher existence and rift is something that surely needs exploration. The sequel to Ragnarök, is going to be other mythology and I'm sure Atreus will make a comeback. Kratos is the main protagonist in all the games.
The story that I've been making in my head goes a bit like this : Atreus gets in trouble while traveling with angrboda and gets imprisoned by some entity or god from Egypt. Angrboda escapes and atreus tells her to inform kratos about his imprisonment. And angrboda travels back to Scandinavia to kratos. (All of these events take place over the span of an hour. So that we can play as atreus for the first hour and as kratos for the rest of the game.) Now we cut to kratos, who is helping the midgardians rebuild and doing what he does. He, mimir and freya are doing this together. All of a sudden, angrboda shows up and informs kratos about atreus. Kratos immediately prepares to travel to Egypt to save his son. He tells freya to stay in midgard since midgard needs a protector while he's gone. Now, as he's preparing himself and collecting his equipments, we see midgardians interacting with kratos as he's leaving Scandinavia. Kratos and angrboda will probably travel together, along with mimir. Before leaving however, kratos visits Tyr and asks him how to travel between pantheons. Tyr gives kratos whatever Tyr used for switching pantheons. Now kratos is ready to leave. (I think the way of traveling to another pantheon is by a boat but we'll see) while traveling to Egypt, mimir can inform us about the new gods and stuff we'll face there. Now, once we reach Egypt, angrboda tells us where to find atreus, and atreus is saved by kratos (I don't exactly know how but I'll think about that later lol) now the interesting part, once kratos and atreus step out of the prison, they come into the streets and civilization of Egypt. All of the people are running away from him and screaming for some reason (I think this plot point may be possible because I believe the city where he fought the crocodile in the comics was in egypt.) Atreus begins doubting his father and starts thinking what's wrong "why are all these people running away?" Kratos has no choice but to tell atreus about his Greek past and how he came to midgard. (These conversations about his past will span out throughout the game. With the conversation about killing his family being the last one.) Atreus, who once idolized his father as a hero, starts being ashamed. He starts distancing himself from kratos. Eventually hating him. This is where the Egyptian gods come in, (it turns out that they were the one who imprisoned atreus, because they didn't like trespassers. And were even more mad when kratos killed one of their gods.) After atreus becomes mad at kratos, he starts having more and more arguments with him. Eventually running away and going out to think about stuff.
When atreus is alone and thinking about his father, the Egyptian god of mischief or something can appear in disguise as a stranger.(I'm not really familiar with Egyptian mythology sorry lol) and he starts fuelling atreus' rage against his father. By the end of their conversation, atreus has nothing but pure hatred for his father (that might be a bit far-fetched but it's possible lol) that's when the stranger reveals himself to be a god, and tries to make a deal with atreus. (Note that they're already mad at atreus for entering their territory and even madder at kratos for rescuing atreus AND killing the croc all those years ago.) Basically he brainwashed atreus and controls him now. The next day, kratos starts to realize that something's wrong with atreus. He tried asking him about it but no replies. He keeps asking to the point that atreus' rage comes out and he starts attacking kratos. (This is a possible boss fight. Kratos wouldn't kill atreus but this fight would be more like the deimos vs kratos fight) eventually, kratos defeats atreus and the evil from within him comes out (kinda like how fear gets out of zeus.) And then atreus faints. Kratos is now just confused af. He's sad, and scared for his son, but pissed off. He knows that the gods of this pantheon had something to do with this. So he tries finding them. Once he does, he fights them. But they're too strong for him. He's brutally beaten up and has no chance or victory, since he was attacked by all gods together. (Now, this is highly unlikely, but possible.) Kratos MIGHT use the tool that Tyr gave him to travel to pantheons, and krstos might travel to other pantheons to collect weapons and tools that will help him win. ( the reason why I think this is possible is because the poses done by Tyr might hint at multiple mythologies. And because of the artifacts we find from different pantheons.) However, I definitely feel that krstos will do all of this alone. And not with atreus. Because that's not the man he wants to be in front of his son. ( while traveling to different pantheons, we will fight the gods from each of their own mythologies.) The last pantheon that kratos visits will be Greece. Once he arrives, he sees that the Greece is still completely destroyed and in ruins. Kratos goes to the suicide bluffs, where it all started for him. Where his story was written in stone. He looks down at all the destruction and feels shame flow through him. Then anger. Rain is still going on heavily in Greece. He swears that he will protect his son, even if it meant destroying everything in front of him. "If it is war that they want" *zoom into kratos' eyes* "then so be it" *a slow version of the vengeful spartan plays* (this is where the first game ends.)
I know that this has a lot of plot holes and stuff but it's midnight and I'm just pulling all of this out of my ass lol. (I do think kratos will help atreus escape from prison by killing the god who contained atreus) Another point that might not make sense is that why would kratos still stay with atreus after he helped him escape. Kratos should technically just go back to midgard after saving him but I'm sure SMS will figure something out lol 🗿
This beginning part of the game is the same idea I have but instead of Freya staying she goes with Kratos and Angrboda and Tyr is the one who stays behind to continue Kratos work. When they get to Egypt they try to blend in to get info on where Atreus is at but get recognized as gods from stories that span across the pantheons and then have to fight some gods and will kill a semi significant Egyptian god that will put them in direct conflict with the major Egyptian gods.
@Kratos They also set up in the post game that Freya would do anything within reason to protect Atreus and help Kratos which is why I believe she would go with him and Mimir. They also might not do what I said because it's very similar to 2018 with Magni and Modi and even Heimdall in Ragnarok.
Nice theory, but Atreus knows about kratos's past and has grown way more mature. He is not going to get mad at kratos for this. It will just be a contradiction to the past 2 games. At this point, everyone knows about the ghost of sparta thing and kratos's redemption arc. Let's not disrespect that aspect and make up another son/daddy squabble...
I hope GOW explores the Hindu Pantheon. Egypt is cool and interesting but we already have the MCU talk about it, Assassin's Creed did it, and many other movies. I wanna learn some new things!!
I think we should get a smaller spin off game following Atreus, they could do the story of him helping the giants with Angrboda. (Think that would work out very well for a small spin off DLC game) Similar to how Sony created the Miles Morales spin off DLCish game from the foundations of Marvels Spider-Man. I really think Santa Monica Studios would do a great job with that kind of spin off game. Another bonus is we’d have more GoW to play while we are waiting years for GoW 6. But either way whatever they do I’m sure it will be amazing as Santa Monica Studios are in a great spot right now
Hey CAP, I viewed this vid & thought about a protagonist. Odin! He needs a body to live. Atreus is heading to Egypt where Immohep riens at that time. What if he helped Odin's raven place the soul of Odin within a host in Africa? A younger host. A Godlike host, wouldn't a younger Kratos be needed?
i don't see why nobody thinks they can have a dual protagonist system. they already set it up in ragnarok. in the next games you play as kratos or atreus for certain story missions, and during free roam you can switch between them at will. atreus with obviously more fleshed out combat and skill trees as an adult that explore his magic and shapeshifting. assassin's creed syndicate is a game that executes this well
with them doing a gow tv adaptation, i wish santa monica adapted fallen god in a spider verse style movie that would help clarify whats happened from gow 3 to 2018 and if egypt would be the next pantheon
I want all 3 but the one I really wanted is when God of war 3 ended and how God of war 2018 started a game between those time frames in my opinion wld be amazing
maybe it's only me - but I vibe with Cory saying we do not want to be stuck in Norse lands for 9-12-15 years... I'd rather they explore Asia, Egypt, etc. Would not be excited to explore 9 realms for the third time.
Time hopping adventure with Loki where he sees his mom, blows the horn and also does some of the stuff loki does in the myth like stinging Brok (by mistake?) and making sure Thor's hammer gets a short handle ect.
If we go to Egypt, i hope we step back on the timeline a little bit, in Greece we saw Kratos as a mass-murdering monster, and in Scandinavia we saw Kratos a ways into his journey of learning to be human again, if we go to egypt, it might be cool to see greek kratos slowly begin his journey to morphing into the kratos we met in GOW 2018
Personally I think we'll be getting an artreus spinoff that leads into the next mainline game. How i've theorized it'll go down, is the adventures of artreus going to Jormungandr before he leaves midgard, in which Jorm tells him to travel to paradise on an island chain and misty peaks high in the mountains to find two half god half jotun dieties, Maui and Sun wu kong. While doing this sindri is manipulated by Forsetti, they follow artreus, fast foward a bit, forsetti kills a god of death (personally think it will be Anubis), sindri see's his error and helps defeat forsetti. Alls well, they go back to a dining hall in Midgard and feast. Until Ra comes in similar to Thor Onto the next mainline game, starts off with the Ra scene, Kratos confronts him and basically tells him that the god that killed your own is dead now and that you don't need vengeance, Ra agree's to an extent, leaves, but says "If any trouble comes from these lands our way, its war...". Everyone goes to sleep after that, and in the morning Ratatoskr is frantically trying to evacuate the nine realms because Sinmara stopped grieving for Surtr with sadness, and has started to grieve with rage. She freezes yggdrasil and plumits the nine realms into chaos for now. Locking it in a state where magic from this pantheon is weakened so long as Sinmara is keeping the tree of life frozen. From here, our protagonists have no choice but to head to Egypt, where he'll have to fight against gods that have grown restless in the destruction of lineages of gods, or pantheons, whereas others will help us on the way. Eventually Sinmara is defeated, and the big reveal is that Huginn is probably Odin or something and peace is still not a complete option.
Slavic mythology wouldve been cool as in order to get to the norse lands hed have to move north through serbia and so on slavic countries. Probably wouldn't have worked because the God/s are a benevolent trinity (we guessed that part right something no other mythology can boast) with many random lesser Gods in the periphery. Very many cool enemies but the characters would have to be complete forgeries and no hype as no one really knows them
That sounds cool, but I don't think much is actually known of Slavic mythology, at least in comparison with Greek, Norse, and Egyptian mythology. Unlike the Scandinavians, the Slavs apparently didn't care to write down much of their old ways during the Medieval period, or perhaps they did but the writings are lost. The names of various deities may have survived, but little is known of what they were the gods of and what stories are associated with them. And much of what we do know already mirrors Norse mythology, which kind of makes sense since linguistically, the Germanic and Slavic languages branched off from each other later than the other Indo-European languages.
I would say who Will be the next protagonists...is Blades of Chaos, because that represent GOW stories... If they want to put Atreus aka Loki for the next games, bring BladesOfChaos...or steal it or find it or get it or etc..
If I remember right kratos has already met an Egyptian God in comics the crocodile and another one they attempted to attacked him at the Nile I believe

welcome to the SMU - the Santa Monica universe p.s - I do hope the next god of war game takes a darker tone and explores brutality mixed with emotional path. as I've said before the balance in Ragnarök between Atreus and kratos wasn't always on point, and also playing as atreus wasn't a lot of fun at some point at least for me. so i do hope we get an older more interesting take on older Atreus combined with kratos as well. and also how all of this is connected to the amazon show on tv. there's also the fact that SMS hired a lore person to be in charge of keeping track of this kind of stuff so that's a good thing,
with Loki leaving at the end of Ragnarok and Kratos and Freya tracking down the new valkarie queen, I think that it might be safe to say that part of the game will follow Kratos and Freya, and once they kill the new queen it will then switch over to Loki which will be the main part of the game. Or the whole game will follow Loki and then Kratos and Freya hunting down the Valkarie queen will come as an expansion. That just pretty much what I think will happen in the new game. We will still most likely be in the 9 realms because it would be strange for Loki to be able to leave the 9 realms considering that in Norse mythology there were only 9 realms and nothing more.

I would really like to see a game(a DLC) where it starts from the end of gow 3 and show how kratos keft greece and went to scandinavia and met faye and it will end where gow 2018 starts .It would also contain info about some mysteries that havent yet been answered
1) Loki returns to Odins Library and finds the rift. He doesn't have the mask anymore, so he begs Sindri to help him make a key, saying he can change how things turned out. With key in hand, they jump in. 2) They step out the other side to Ragnarok as Kratos and Atreus begin the siege on the wall. Sindri leaves Loki to quickly remove the people near the cannons, stopping himself from killing them when he arrives to destroy the cannons later. 3) Loki makes his way to the world serpant before he begins his battle with Thor. Sindri returns to Loki, and they both step into the space between realms and ride the world serpent back in time as Thor rips space/time, sending them all into the past. 4) Loki finds his mother shortly before she meets Kratos. He explains everything that will happen and how she must lay out the path to ensure everything happens as it needs to. He never says he is her son, only that he is a God, whose father is not of these lands. 5) Loki is assaulted and eventually captured by an incredibly overpowering army, clothed in robes and golden bracelets. The flags bear the symbols of Horus
Hi Kaptain I’ve been a huge fan of god of war since even before I was able to walk I was born in 2003 and have been playing it for a very long time since I picked up a PlayStation and I just thought of something while watching another lore video what do you think would’ve been different in this story if Kratos never told Atreus he was a god and he learned it when Odin told him after Thor and him went into their home in the beginning of ragnarok if you see this I hope you have a nice day and keep up the great work man I love your theories
I just want to know what the deal with the Mask was, what Atreus would have seen if he looked into the rift and how Kratos would have died because of that. My intuition is that it’d be very uneventful, that Atreus finds nothing particularly special inside and Kratos dies trying to rescue Atreus from the rift. It’s like a macguffin or maybe a reverse macguffin in this instance, not actually important apart from driving plot
I want one last Kratos game, whether it’s in Egypt or not, I just feel like his story isn’t finished yet. Also for the fact that he is so much fun to play as especially his combat!
Anyone’s combat can be fun it’s just a matter of the devs putting the time and effort. The devs didn’t put the effort in to make Atreus good. They made Atreus a quarter of what Kratos could do gameplay wise
With the "multiple projects" sms has going, I feel like the next title we'll get to see is a spinoff game exploring Atreus to hold the community off until we get yet another mainline game with Kratos
I do think there's still something in those shrines. Kratos dying... What if we're lead to believe he doesn't die because of Ragnarok. However, the next game the prophecy may catch up with him. I had an idea for 2 games. 1 is a kratos one and the other is an atreus one. So, for the kratos one, the forces of the Egyptian god Set are attacking midgard, Kratos stops them, he is then met by Set who informs him that he is the king of the Egyptian gods and a rival to his claim, the god Horus, ran from Egypt and is hiding in Kratos' realm. He gives Kratos a time limit to give Horus up or risk war. Kratos finds Horus, but Horus is a young boy and he reminds Kratos of Atreus. Instead of giving him to Set he agrees to help him regain his throne by beating Set's armies and the Egyptian gods that sides with him, to convince the Egyptian gods to back Horus instead of Set. To prove his Horus' legitimacy Kratos and Horus must find the crown of Osirus. During the journey Kratos can teach Horus how to be a just and good god. The Atreus game could follow Atreus looking for the giants across a few mythologies, maybe the Japanese one, while one of the last members of the Greek gods; Apollo, hunts him down for what his father did. Apollo could perhaps strong arm the Japanese deities into aiding him. Apollo could also have left Greece with the souls of Kratos' murdered family which Atreus has to save.
All I know is that Kratos better be the protagonist for the next game.

That’s kind of my main concern, I just get bored of the obligatory but iconic desert areas in video games. It’ll be hard to hit that desert aesthetic and still make it look nice and be full of stuff. That’s why I really wanted Aztec or Mayan, it’d make for such a beautiful setting toss in some rich basically rain forest type locations it’d be nice

Ok, hear me out, Atreus goes to Egypt in search of hiding giants. The gods there notice him and know he is Kratos’s son. In fear of what happened in Greece and Norse, they take Atreus prisoner thinking he may be a spy for his father. They think an attack is coming and decide to strike first so they attack Midgard. Cut to Kratos who, after fending off the attack, finds out Atreus is captured. So he, Freya, Mimir, and Tyr all set off to Egypt to rescue him. And just to make it badass, they ride Fenrir through a realm tear to get there. I’m probably no where close to what they actually have planned, but I think that would make a hell of a start to a new game
Yeah I can easy seeing that happing. No doubt the Gods would be worried as not only did a mortal kill a God of War and take his Throne, but now has destroyed two Pantheons. Remember Mimir reveal that though all pantheons knew of the Ghost of Sparta, they don’t know the reason or why he did what he did. So then taking Atreus and trying to use him as bargaining chip for their own safety is something I would see many doing.

He destroyed the Aesir pantheon; which was the stronger pantheon between them and the Vanir. Asgard had clutches on all realms; Vanaheim was struggling to keep the Vanir In power.
Yeah nah I don’t think that can happen, fenrir can travel through tears yes, but I don’t think he can just teleport to other lands far far away. Only in the nine realms and Helheim I’m assuming. But it does sound engaging. Have the trio of kratos, Freya, and mimir.

The only Egyptian God that can draw a parallel to Norse Loki is Set. Set is said to be a shapeshifter able to even shapeshift into animals that don't belong to Egypt (like a bear for example, which we know Atreus can do). Set was also known as the God of Foreigners, which is obviously Atreus from foreign lands. Set was also God of Desert, probably because Atreus traveled through the desert to reach Egypt. Set was also God of Disorder, which is what Loki also does. Loki had been painted in a bad light due to starting Ragnarok and creating disorder, but in truth Loki had been the one who caused change. A revolution, even if it was a bloody one, in order to right the wrongs of the pantheon. Hence the word Disorder. Perhaps from the perspective from the mortals, everything was fine and peaceful until Loki/Set came along and turned everything into chaos, and hence the title for Disorder.
Set also helped Ra defeat the Chaos Serpent Apophis that was supposed to devour Egypt at night. Atreus being a hero, definitely will help in such an endeavor.

I think I'm one of those that can't let go of Kratos just yet. Wether it's a fully fleshed out game or a cameo in an Atreus spin-off. Egypt would be a great next choice although it might be a bit too brutal for a young Atreus unless...they pull off a time-skip where we'd see a mature/even more expierced 'Loki'. Maybe the Egyptian gods will see a weakness in the Norse pantheon with the death of several of it’s most powerful gods and they will try to take it over and Kratos will have to travel to Egypt and take the fight to them or something along those lines

That would be a cool way to flip the series on its head while keeping the typical God of War fun. The Nine Realms are now under Kratos' protection and he is responsible for fighting off invaders, as opposed to being the destroyer that he used to be.

There is no way Cory isn't going to be the director of the next main game. Even if Eric directed this one, Cory made Eric prep it for him to take over after. He gave him 3 main point of the story he must follow and they were: Brok dies, Ragnarok happens, Atreus leaves. Clearly the story is fleshed out by Cory and he knows where its heading to. I think Mihir Sheth could direct a spinoff most likely.
Cory is busy directing a new IP from Santa Monica. God of War always has a different director; Cory only returned for 2018 because they were desperate to revitalize the franchise
i feel like Celtic Mythology makes a lot of sense as well considering Mimir in the god of war universe is from there. Maybe something is going on there and mimir will ask the help of Kratos to help him save his world the same way he help Kratos with his journey in norse mythology and Kratos who now considers Mimir as family would be willing to repay the favor.
But i really want to see egyptian mythology first then either Celtic or Aztec mythos. or they could do both, Kratos goes to one pantheon and Atreus to another one

Egypt mythology is one my favourites. I would love to see in god of war series. They could use the ideas they had original for it and incorporate them in new way. Could that either Atreus goes there and sends a letter to Kratos for assistance. They could also make that a god ask Kratos to help save their realm since he has been there before. While being there we could find clues that Atreus visited that realm as well and is searching for something as well.
I don't know if anyone has noticed that but there are Greek words on the mask and it says: "On the of fire and on the obsidian spark. Battlefield never happened" probably referring to the fact that we found a piece of the mask on Muspelheim. There also other languages there that I cannot translate but yeah.
There is a tremendous amount of hints at Egypt in the 2018 game. A lesser known one is a mural found in the elevator down to Tyrs vault, which shows tyr traveling to Greece, Egypt, Japan and to the Incas (in order)
I think in Egypt. We'll see tons of new Egyptian gods. But there is is a possibility that we see, Roman gods. Basically revised Greek Gods getting revenge to what Kratos did. So Kratos most definitely has to be the protagonist.

Wouldn’t it be Greek Egyptian hybrid gods due to synchronising rather then Romans? While God of war isn’t the best with human history I doubt the 100 years after God of War 3 means we are in the AD/CE. So if there is Greek influence in River Empire it would be from Alexander the Great if mistaken(I’m still learning about ancient history). So maybe the Thoery that Typhon in God of War was actually Kratos would mean the Gods who survived GOW3 would be hiding in Egypt as animals, that works since in GOW: Fallen God, the Egyptian God of wisdom is seen and is not only Aware of Kratos’s unknown destiny but working alongside Athena.
As far as next installments go, it's either:
1. A spinoff game with Atreus.
2. A new game featuring a new pantheon
3. A prequel game building up events before GOW 2018, as well as answering past unanswered questions.

My theory is we'll get a spinoff game for loki based in Egypt, Loki basically said he's gonna travel the world looking for giants, maybe Egypt is where some of them escaped to, and I think Kratos will stay closer to the Norse realm going to Celtic mythology next due to the power vacuum left by Odin, and we already have plenty of references to Celtics, Mimir Is from Celtic mythology, so are kelipies, maybe the celtic world will bleed into the Norse realm

Celtic is much too linear and similar to Norse Mythology for it to be the next pantheon. It's either going to be in Egypt or Japan, since those two are the pantheons from Tyr's secret mural that we haven't had games of yet. Though I still hope there will be a Spin Offs of Faye and Atreus. Atreus befriending Wukong would probably be one of the coolest ideas of a Gow Game.

Hey Kuba, I was thinking about making a sort of essay style video about God Of War: Ragnarok. The video itself will, mostly be negative, but I did wanted to hear some positive points from the fans of the game. I know that you already did a review on the game, but somethings more specific are:
- What do you think the arc of Kratos and Atreus was
- Where did the arc of the main characters begin
- Can you tell me what the villains means or represents for one of the game's heroes
- Do you think the Norse Saga benefited or suffered under the two game narative
What is the reason for Kratos going to Egypt?? Maybe Atreus in his travels ends up there becoming Set. Gets captured or something and sends for help?
a God of war game cant be a gow game without Kratos protagonist
as much i like the next game being in India but the studio could get a lot of backlash from the Hindu community, Gods in India can be very precious to a lot of people seeing them in a game potentially dying can get people mad, An Atreus game focused more on exploration and puzzle solving (like tomb raider) un covering antient history of India can be good. India too has some history of giants / giant gods (maybe there can be a link there) and as for Kratos the game can focus on Egypt like you said.
I certainly hope it's not based on a religion that is actively practiced till this day. We don't want any controversy or negativity surrounding a great series like this.
A god of war prediction: Atreus will go to Egypt and he'll go to a pyramid (middle game) and he will fight a robot boss and when he defeats it, it will actually be Sindri and when we help him we will become "friends" again. Let me now what you think.
It could just be in order of which pantheon comes after Egypt, as well as in 2018 where we see the other symbols of war from other religions. It could be that Santa Monica has planed way further than most suspect.
Maybe since the giants helped build the pyramids Atreus goes to that pantheon (Egypt) when he has to go find them. He somehow gets in trouble and Kratos has to travel there (Mimir goes with of course) to save Atreus and gets wrapped up in the mythology as he does.
They should do a spin off named Loki and GOW 6 with Kratos as a direct sequel to Loki. To give Kratos a reason to leave the house

I am from India and part of the Hindu Community, I can confirm that, even I would like to God of War be made about the Hindu Pantheon, its just not possible because people in this part of the world and just too sensitive about gods. Any small factor can lead to crying and outrage from the entire community which is why us Indians can never make or get a game made about our mythologies, just like Black Myth Wukong.
I wish they would do something like to where kratos returns to greece.... theres one thing that could make this go well: In god of war 1 if you beat the game on the hardest diff you get a phone number its just kratos giving a tour of his throne room but in one area he says he can hear ares soul whispering to him... maybe ares could come back to life and that could be the boss fight
Also ares body could be seen in God of War 3. Also again, a lot of people have said this but they could easy have that the surviving Gods could become the Roman Gods.
I REALLY would like to see japan. They have some really awesome gods with crazy abilities. Also you have tons of possibilities with different yokai for enemies.
I'm betting they're going to make a larger over arching pantheon be the next antagonists. The mask and the rift won't just be thrown away. Clearly those are from more ancient powers. I think we might see a game with Atreus in the celtic realm and Kratos exploring the Egyptian realm, or some other pantheon, with Atreus with Agrabhoda or however you spell his name, and Kratos and Freya
I think if they go to Egypt it'll be more of a prequel because in the comics they had Kratos travel through Egypt after the Greek Pantheon ended
I really hope that people keep an eye on the ip “god of mischief” and if anyone has it or if it’s available. If it’s ever listed as owned by Sony then that’s a huge giveaway for if they are going in the Atreus direction with the main series.

It’s heartbreaking if they leave the Norse mythology behind, there’s so much more to cover, so many questions unanswered. I’m all for a new mythology but we need a closer to this one just like we had for Greek mythology
On the same hand that so much of the ending of Ragnarok felt final, and the new Valhalla DLC felt so final it was like a funeral for Kratos (as in he peaked and reached the end of his character arc) the writing of 2018 and Ragnarok left so many oddly loose ends. It’s highly confusing what they plan to do with the series, that’s corporations for ya they just need every option as a contingency at the cost of story
I had a thought dunno if youll comment on it, i feel like youre the go to on all gow theories, but would you say kratos has taken his role again as gow of the norse lands now? As atreus said at the first mural tyr was gonna be the person to lead the fight to ragnarok, but it turned out be kratos holding the horn and leading the fight, and being loved like tyr was has he become the god of war he wants rather than a god of war of pure violence and hatred. Tyr seems occupied post game with other things while kratos seems to have truly taken the role of "alpha god" in the norse lands but a loved one, like tyr.

@Kartik Kumar See, Kratos can't even touch Bhrahma, Vishnu and Shiva because of their power level at a universal level. So if Kratos kills any gods, it would be from Swarga like the gods Indra, Varun and Agni, cause their power levels are similar to those of Greek God's power levels.

@Fussybooky RiotRcs Cow isn't a God, man. It's an animal which provides us dairy products and in the ancient times, it's dung was used as fuel for cooking and other purposes.
Because it have a lot of usability, we praised it from that time and don't intend to harm any other animal.

So you find TYR IN 6 realms, After Niflheim prison. Out of the 6, 4 of the animations are oriented looking at specific directions. Those are S,S,SW,SE. out of those 4. The 2 that are oriented DIRECTLY south are the Sun Pose from tai chi. And the White Crane Pose also Tai Chi. So everyone is saying "Chinese,Hindu, Buddhism". When really it's the poses themselves that hold the answer. Ra, is the Egyptian god of the SUN and all creation. Toth is the Egyptian god of knowledge, and is depicted as a WHITE CRANE. (Kratos has met him) Maybe its far fetched or crazy. Idk maybe its just my paranoia kicking in
That "Faye is Thor's sister" theory has me suuuuper interested in a prequel game.
I think they could really cook with Atreus in Greece Spinoff. His Potential in a hack and slash game is intense and could (possibly) return the Blades of Twilight concept into something distinctly different. (The amount of Leftover Gods is just insane)
The best start for the next game would be atreues in chains somewhere and after being tortured for year's he somehow calls the axe and this leads to Kratos going on a mission to find the axe and atreus.
I think that it'll be separated into two chapters, one being Atreus' journey to Jotünheim to help his people, maybe show him growing into a man, even stronger than he was in Ragnarök, before reuniting with his father some years later, finding that Kratos has become the new All-Father, and them going on another journey together to make up for lost time, ending up in Egypt, maybe helping Amon and the other gods to stop Set from destroying everything, a parallel to the destructive lunatic Kratos was in God of War 3.
I believe is gonna be a saga about Atreus exploring multiple mythologies searching for the giants
OK, but here is my question he’s from the Greek pantheon, correct we know this, but since in mythology, the Roman and Greek sides of the gods are different aspects and iterations, so could technically Kratos fight the Roman version of his father, and all the other gods? If the next gow setting is somehow India, i swear it is definitely gonna get ban in India as people here are really , and by really I mean REALLY serious about their Gods.They can't tolerate any kind of defamation. Like even if a game showcases Hindu gods as Protagonists, India is likely to ban it.

Solo Kratos adventure in Egypt.. (setting is Kratos gets to learn from Tyr that Faye can be brought back with the help of Egyptian Gods).. Sindri can also have the same motive to bring Brok back..

How’d you lose interest in the game after Ragnarok? I suppose in some ways the ending was a bit underwhelming but the game is so good it completely reinvigorated my interest in the series
I think this one is very obvious. Egypt is going to be a direct sequel to GoW 3 and prequel to 2018. Considering it as an Ascension to new series in the franchise. I also think that Egypt will have at least 2 games. The story will start with what we saw in the comic series and will probably expand it. Connection of Athena and Toth to the Higher existence and rift is something that surely needs exploration.
The sequel to Ragnarök, is going to be other mythology and I'm sure Atreus will make a comeback. Kratos is the main protagonist in all the games.

The story that I've been making in my head goes a bit like this :
Atreus gets in trouble while traveling with angrboda and gets imprisoned by some entity or god from Egypt. Angrboda escapes and atreus tells her to inform kratos about his imprisonment. And angrboda travels back to Scandinavia to kratos. (All of these events take place over the span of an hour. So that we can play as atreus for the first hour and as kratos for the rest of the game.) Now we cut to kratos, who is helping the midgardians rebuild and doing what he does. He, mimir and freya are doing this together. All of a sudden, angrboda shows up and informs kratos about atreus. Kratos immediately prepares to travel to Egypt to save his son. He tells freya to stay in midgard since midgard needs a protector while he's gone. Now, as he's preparing himself and collecting his equipments, we see midgardians interacting with kratos as he's leaving Scandinavia. Kratos and angrboda will probably travel together, along with mimir. Before leaving however, kratos visits Tyr and asks him how to travel between pantheons. Tyr gives kratos whatever Tyr used for switching pantheons. Now kratos is ready to leave. (I think the way of traveling to another pantheon is by a boat but we'll see) while traveling to Egypt, mimir can inform us about the new gods and stuff we'll face there. Now, once we reach Egypt, angrboda tells us where to find atreus, and atreus is saved by kratos (I don't exactly know how but I'll think about that later lol) now the interesting part, once kratos and atreus step out of the prison, they come into the streets and civilization of Egypt. All of the people are running away from him and screaming for some reason (I think this plot point may be possible because I believe the city where he fought the crocodile in the comics was in egypt.) Atreus begins doubting his father and starts thinking what's wrong "why are all these people running away?" Kratos has no choice but to tell atreus about his Greek past and how he came to midgard. (These conversations about his past will span out throughout the game. With the conversation about killing his family being the last one.) Atreus, who once idolized his father as a hero, starts being ashamed. He starts distancing himself from kratos. Eventually hating him. This is where the Egyptian gods come in, (it turns out that they were the one who imprisoned atreus, because they didn't like trespassers. And were even more mad when kratos killed one of their gods.) After atreus becomes mad at kratos, he starts having more and more arguments with him. Eventually running away and going out to think about stuff.
When atreus is alone and thinking about his father, the Egyptian god of mischief or something can appear in disguise as a stranger.(I'm not really familiar with Egyptian mythology sorry lol) and he starts fuelling atreus' rage against his father. By the end of their conversation, atreus has nothing but pure hatred for his father (that might be a bit far-fetched but it's possible lol) that's when the stranger reveals himself to be a god, and tries to make a deal with atreus. (Note that they're already mad at atreus for entering their territory and even madder at kratos for rescuing atreus AND killing the croc all those years ago.) Basically he brainwashed atreus and controls him now. The next day, kratos starts to realize that something's wrong with atreus. He tried asking him about it but no replies. He keeps asking to the point that atreus' rage comes out and he starts attacking kratos. (This is a possible boss fight. Kratos wouldn't kill atreus but this fight would be more like the deimos vs kratos fight) eventually, kratos defeats atreus and the evil from within him comes out (kinda like how fear gets out of zeus.) And then atreus faints. Kratos is now just confused af. He's sad, and scared for his son, but pissed off. He knows that the gods of this pantheon had something to do with this. So he tries finding them. Once he does, he fights them. But they're too strong for him. He's brutally beaten up and has no chance or victory, since he was attacked by all gods together. (Now, this is highly unlikely, but possible.) Kratos MIGHT use the tool that Tyr gave him to travel to pantheons, and krstos might travel to other pantheons to collect weapons and tools that will help him win. ( the reason why I think this is possible is because the poses done by Tyr might hint at multiple mythologies. And because of the artifacts we find from different pantheons.) However, I definitely feel that krstos will do all of this alone. And not with atreus. Because that's not the man he wants to be in front of his son. ( while traveling to different pantheons, we will fight the gods from each of their own mythologies.) The last pantheon that kratos visits will be Greece. Once he arrives, he sees that the Greece is still completely destroyed and in ruins. Kratos goes to the suicide bluffs, where it all started for him. Where his story was written in stone. He looks down at all the destruction and feels shame flow through him. Then anger. Rain is still going on heavily in Greece. He swears that he will protect his son, even if it meant destroying everything in front of him. "If it is war that they want" *zoom into kratos' eyes* "then so be it" *a slow version of the vengeful spartan plays* (this is where the first game ends.)
I know that this has a lot of plot holes and stuff but it's midnight and I'm just pulling all of this out of my ass lol. (I do think kratos will help atreus escape from prison by killing the god who contained atreus) Another point that might not make sense is that why would kratos still stay with atreus after he helped him escape. Kratos should technically just go back to midgard after saving him but I'm sure SMS will figure something out lol 🗿
This beginning part of the game is the same idea I have but instead of Freya staying she goes with Kratos and Angrboda and Tyr is the one who stays behind to continue Kratos work. When they get to Egypt they try to blend in to get info on where Atreus is at but get recognized as gods from stories that span across the pantheons and then have to fight some gods and will kill a semi significant Egyptian god that will put them in direct conflict with the major Egyptian gods.
@Kratos They also set up in the post game that Freya would do anything within reason to protect Atreus and help Kratos which is why I believe she would go with him and Mimir. They also might not do what I said because it's very similar to 2018 with Magni and Modi and even Heimdall in Ragnarok.
Nice theory, but Atreus knows about kratos's past and has grown way more mature. He is not going to get mad at kratos for this. It will just be a contradiction to the past 2 games. At this point, everyone knows about the ghost of sparta thing and kratos's redemption arc. Let's not disrespect that aspect and make up another son/daddy squabble...
I hope GOW explores the Hindu Pantheon. Egypt is cool and interesting but we already have the MCU talk about it, Assassin's Creed did it, and many other movies. I wanna learn some new things!!
I think we should get a smaller spin off game following Atreus, they could do the story of him helping the giants with Angrboda. (Think that would work out very well for a small spin off DLC game)
Similar to how Sony created the Miles Morales spin off DLCish game from the foundations of Marvels Spider-Man.
I really think Santa Monica Studios would do a great job with that kind of spin off game. Another bonus is we’d have more GoW to play while we are waiting years for GoW 6.
But either way whatever they do I’m sure it will be amazing as Santa Monica Studios are in a great spot right now
Hey CAP, I viewed this vid & thought about a protagonist. Odin! He needs a body to live. Atreus is heading to Egypt where Immohep riens at that time. What if he helped Odin's raven place the soul of Odin within a host in Africa? A younger host. A Godlike host, wouldn't a younger Kratos be needed?
i don't see why nobody thinks they can have a dual protagonist system. they already set it up in ragnarok. in the next games you play as kratos or atreus for certain story missions, and during free roam you can switch between them at will. atreus with obviously more fleshed out combat and skill trees as an adult that explore his magic and shapeshifting.
assassin's creed syndicate is a game that executes this well
with them doing a gow tv adaptation, i wish santa monica adapted fallen god in a spider verse style movie
that would help clarify whats happened from gow 3 to 2018 and if egypt would be the next pantheon
I think the next game will be covering Celtic myth. Egypt i think will be saved for a Loki standalone title.
I want all 3 but the one I really wanted is when God of war 3 ended and how God of war 2018 started a game between those time frames in my opinion wld be amazing
maybe it's only me - but I vibe with Cory saying we do not want to be stuck in Norse lands for 9-12-15 years... I'd rather they explore Asia, Egypt, etc. Would not be excited to explore 9 realms for the third time.

Time hopping adventure with Loki where he sees his mom, blows the horn and also does some of the stuff loki does in the myth like stinging Brok (by mistake?) and making sure Thor's hammer gets a short handle ect.

If we go to Egypt, i hope we step back on the timeline a little bit, in Greece we saw Kratos as a mass-murdering monster, and in Scandinavia we saw Kratos a ways into his journey of learning to be human again, if we go to egypt, it might be cool to see greek kratos slowly begin his journey to morphing into the kratos we met in GOW 2018
Personally I think we'll be getting an artreus spinoff that leads into the next mainline game.
How i've theorized it'll go down, is the adventures of artreus going to Jormungandr before he leaves midgard, in which Jorm tells him to travel to paradise on an island chain and misty peaks high in the mountains to find two half god half jotun dieties, Maui and Sun wu kong.
While doing this sindri is manipulated by Forsetti, they follow artreus, fast foward a bit, forsetti kills a god of death (personally think it will be Anubis), sindri see's his error and helps defeat forsetti. Alls well, they go back to a dining hall in Midgard and feast. Until Ra comes in similar to Thor
Onto the next mainline game, starts off with the Ra scene, Kratos confronts him and basically tells him that the god that killed your own is dead now and that you don't need vengeance, Ra agree's to an extent, leaves, but says "If any trouble comes from these lands our way, its war...". Everyone goes to sleep after that, and in the morning Ratatoskr is frantically trying to evacuate the nine realms because Sinmara stopped grieving for Surtr with sadness, and has started to grieve with rage. She freezes yggdrasil and plumits the nine realms into chaos for now.
Locking it in a state where magic from this pantheon is weakened so long as Sinmara is keeping the tree of life frozen. From here, our protagonists have no choice but to head to Egypt, where he'll have to fight against gods that have grown restless in the destruction of lineages of gods, or pantheons, whereas others will help us on the way. Eventually Sinmara is defeated, and the big reveal is that Huginn is probably Odin or something and peace is still not a complete option.
I think those 4 poses are numbers, could actually hint at the year the game will come out?

Slavic mythology wouldve been cool as in order to get to the norse lands hed have to move north through serbia and so on slavic countries. Probably wouldn't have worked because the God/s are a benevolent trinity (we guessed that part right something no other mythology can boast) with many random lesser Gods in the periphery. Very many cool enemies but the characters would have to be complete forgeries and no hype as no one really knows them
That sounds cool, but I don't think much is actually known of Slavic mythology, at least in comparison with Greek, Norse, and Egyptian mythology. Unlike the Scandinavians, the Slavs apparently didn't care to write down much of their old ways during the Medieval period, or perhaps they did but the writings are lost.
The names of various deities may have survived, but little is known of what they were the gods of and what stories are associated with them. And much of what we do know already mirrors Norse mythology, which kind of makes sense since linguistically, the Germanic and Slavic languages branched off from each other later than the other Indo-European languages.
I would say who Will be the next protagonists...is Blades of Chaos, because that represent GOW stories... If they want to put Atreus aka Loki for the next games, bring BladesOfChaos...or steal it or find it or get it or etc..
If I remember right kratos has already met an Egyptian God in comics the crocodile and another one they attempted to attacked him at the Nile I believe

I notice something, when atreus spell sofna ... To finrir, actualy there was 4 dots (his soul part? Maybe) one of these dots hit his knife thats how he got the soul part of finrir in Atreus knife. Watch again.
I would like to play as Faye before she met Kratos, being at war with Asgard, what happened with giants, how she got axe etc.

as I've said before the balance in Ragnarök between Atreus and kratos wasn't always on point, and also playing as atreus wasn't a lot of fun at some point at least for me.
so i do hope we get an older more interesting take on older Atreus combined with kratos as well.
and also how all of this is connected to the amazon show on tv.
there's also the fact that SMS hired a lore person to be in charge of keeping track of this kind of stuff so that's a good thing,
with Loki leaving at the end of Ragnarok and Kratos and Freya tracking down the new valkarie queen, I think that it might be safe to say that part of the game will follow Kratos and Freya, and once they kill the new queen it will then switch over to Loki which will be the main part of the game. Or the whole game will follow Loki and then Kratos and Freya hunting down the Valkarie queen will come as an expansion. That just pretty much what I think will happen in the new game. We will still most likely be in the 9 realms because it would be strange for Loki to be able to leave the 9 realms considering that in Norse mythology there were only 9 realms and nothing more.
Or how odin became all father…might be intresting to see how he gained so much knowledge and always be self centered and use those who r among him without them knowing
I would really like to see a game(a DLC) where it starts from the end of gow 3 and show how kratos keft greece and went to scandinavia and met faye and it will end where gow 2018 starts .It would also contain info about some mysteries that havent yet been answered
1) Loki returns to Odins Library and finds the rift. He doesn't have the mask anymore, so he begs Sindri to help him make a key, saying he can change how things turned out. With key in hand, they jump in.
2) They step out the other side to Ragnarok as Kratos and Atreus begin the siege on the wall. Sindri leaves Loki to quickly remove the people near the cannons, stopping himself from killing them when he arrives to destroy the cannons later.
3) Loki makes his way to the world serpant before he begins his battle with Thor. Sindri returns to Loki, and they both step into the space between realms and ride the world serpent back in time as Thor rips space/time, sending them all into the past.
4) Loki finds his mother shortly before she meets Kratos. He explains everything that will happen and how she must lay out the path to ensure everything happens as it needs to. He never says he is her son, only that he is a God, whose father is not of these lands.
5) Loki is assaulted and eventually captured by an incredibly overpowering army, clothed in robes and golden bracelets. The flags bear the symbols of Horus
I think we should get a multiple pantheon trilogy next. Basically a final arc with an all out war amongst the remaining gods
Hi Kaptain I’ve been a huge fan of god of war since even before I was able to walk I was born in 2003 and have been playing it for a very long time since I picked up a PlayStation and I just thought of something while watching another lore video what do you think would’ve been different in this story if Kratos never told Atreus he was a god and he learned it when Odin told him after Thor and him went into their home in the beginning of ragnarok if you see this I hope you have a nice day and keep up the great work man I love your theories

I just want to know what the deal with the Mask was, what Atreus would have seen if he looked into the rift and how Kratos would have died because of that. My intuition is that it’d be very uneventful, that Atreus finds nothing particularly special inside and Kratos dies trying to rescue Atreus from the rift. It’s like a macguffin or maybe a reverse macguffin in this instance, not actually important apart from driving plot
I want one last Kratos game, whether it’s in Egypt or not, I just feel like his story isn’t finished yet. Also for the fact that he is so much fun to play as especially his combat!
Anyone’s combat can be fun it’s just a matter of the devs putting the time and effort.
The devs didn’t put the effort in to make Atreus good. They made Atreus a quarter of what Kratos could do gameplay wise
I'm pretty sure that Mihir Sheth was in Raising Kratos, and he came there to work on the canceled project so I don't think he's a GOW director
With the "multiple projects" sms has going, I feel like the next title we'll get to see is a spinoff game exploring Atreus to hold the community off until we get yet another mainline game with Kratos

I do think there's still something in those shrines. Kratos dying... What if we're lead to believe he doesn't die because of Ragnarok. However, the next game the prophecy may catch up with him. If this is true and Thor is in the memorial too... Is this Thor collecting Kratos to take him to the higher plains 🤔🤔
I had an idea for 2 games. 1 is a kratos one and the other is an atreus one. So, for the kratos one, the forces of the Egyptian god Set are attacking midgard, Kratos stops them, he is then met by Set who informs him that he is the king of the Egyptian gods and a rival to his claim, the god Horus, ran from Egypt and is hiding in Kratos' realm. He gives Kratos a time limit to give Horus up or risk war. Kratos finds Horus, but Horus is a young boy and he reminds Kratos of Atreus. Instead of giving him to Set he agrees to help him regain his throne by beating Set's armies and the Egyptian gods that sides with him, to convince the Egyptian gods to back Horus instead of Set. To prove his Horus' legitimacy Kratos and Horus must find the crown of Osirus. During the journey Kratos can teach Horus how to be a just and good god.
The Atreus game could follow Atreus looking for the giants across a few mythologies, maybe the Japanese one, while one of the last members of the Greek gods; Apollo, hunts him down for what his father did. Apollo could perhaps strong arm the Japanese deities into aiding him. Apollo could also have left Greece with the souls of Kratos' murdered family which Atreus has to save.
