  • First impressions and thoughts on the Fujifilm x100f.
I share some images taken in chinatown/little italy area of new york city with the x100f. Its my first time out with it and after many years searching for the perfect street shooter i think i may have finally found it. dont know why i waited so long to get this camera!
This video was shot with the Panasonic GH5 + PL 8-18 f2.8-4

I just ordered the x100f for street photography after going several years of exclusively shooting fashion in a studio with medium format. I cannot wait! Thanks for the video.

Enjoyed the video. Following you on Flickr also. I am mainly a Sony shooter and a Zeiss Batis fan boy. The X100F has always intrigued me for street so I purchased one. I like the 35mm perspective and I don't worry about the dust/sand when I'm at the beach or on windy days and really appreciate the Fuji systems. Keep up the good postings!

I have had the x100f for over a year. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. It is the street /everyday camera! I find a wrist strap works best for me. That said, some like the additional grip or half case. Agree on slightly awkward position of the lens dials and weather sealing. Personally, I don't miss a flip screen although it would be nice to have. Lastly, the 16mm is a great lens (my fav). I use it on the street with my XPro2 and now XH1. You might try the 56 too. I like to take that out for street portraits or low light situations. But both the 16 & 56 are excellent and give a different POV.

I love my X100s. Bought it used because I wasn’t sure I would like it and I couldn’t justify spending too much on a second camera.
The fixed focal length is liberating. Walk around to zoom. If you can’t, you can’t. Job done. Also takes one aspect of composition out of the equation so you don’t faff about and miss the moment.
I use a wrist strap. Makes it easier to shoot from the hip should you need to and also you can hide it in your hand so it’s not as obvious you’re carrying a camera as it would be with a neck strap.
I’d estimate I take about 3-4 times as many photos since I bought it. It goes most places with me. The DSLR rucksack only comes out when I’m going out expressly to take photos.
Also, fingerless gloves are my preferred choice for photography. Cheap (€5 on Amazon), warm enough and having all your finger tips out makes your grip a bit surer.

Having owned both the X100F and the Ricoh GR II I found that the GR is a much better tool for street photography. Super light and compact, (actually fits in a pocket) streamlined interface, automatic ND filter, dedicated zone focusing option and excellent IQ. The lens is considerably sharper than the X100F’s f2. You should give it a try.

I was hesitant buying another camera, but, Fujifilm has come a very long way, like Sony, who knew Sony would corner the market in mirrorless cameras.... as a loyal Nikon DSLR shooter, currently shooting with one of the best cameras, D850 and Tamaron 24-70mm, but, like you said, large cameras can be cumbersome and more obvious.. so, like you, after reviewing dozens of reviews and critique on the x100f, I decided to order one from Tokyo.... saved a couple of bucks... right out of the box, I was impress by the size and weight...it’s definitely a professional camera feel... I purchased the black body version, the camera looks great...and the most important feature I love is the quality of the sharpness of the pictures, just amazing.... this camera does make you want to get out and shoot... the x100f is suppose to resemble a retro rangefinder camera, so I hate when people complain about the ISO wheel.. back in the day when they use to call it ASA dial... this is how the function worked, so stop complaining... if you don’t like the camera because of non-2 card slot, or whatever, then don’t buy it... I had to adjust working with the Fujifilm platform, hip shooting or chest shooting with this camera is ideal... all your street photography pictures will look amazing...so get out and shoot...

X100F is my favorite camera to shoot with after shooting full frame canon for so many years. The X100F paired with the XT3, 16mm and 56mm. Couldn't be happier. Look forward to more videos with this setup. Cheers!

Hey Randall great video! I've got the X100f and X-T2 as well. Love them both. You're going to like the 16mm especially for nighttime street. Love your photos too. Great shots.

I have an XT-20 with a 18-55mm lens. Is there any benefit of having a fixed focal length for this camera ( 23mm or 27mm) as the kit lens already has those focal lengths built in. ?

Once you start shooting with the 16mm, you might not go back. I sold my 23mm f2 because the 16mm was so great for street photography.

Btw, what if new iteration is coming soon out? x100 (5th). Or GR3 is also an alternative (with stabliziation seems so).
I kinda would like to get into fuji but these things above makes me think is it the right moment.

I have one and love almost everything about it, but I have a real problem with the lack of a tilt screen and the lag of the evf to engage when bringing the camera up to my eye. I often think I will have to sell it and go for an XT20, but I keep hoping Fuji will come out with a flat top camera with a flip screen and a viewfinder. omar may convince me yet.

    • @jw0001
      @jw0001 5 ปีที่แล้ว

since it is a fixed lens there shouldn’t be dust on the sensor. If something did get on the sensor, I would think it would have to go in for a professional cleaning.
