    When it comes to fixed-lens cameras, I do feel at an advantage having grown-up in an era of 35mm film cameras with 35mm lenses (mine was a Minolta AF-E II). Even today, a zoom feels like a luxury! Not having to carry around “extra” lenses really is liberating once you’re used to it!

      It really is liberating! I recently switched to zooms on my professional camera but still use them like they're primes:)

      I totally agree. I have an XPro2 and use the 27mm WR 90% of time. Being used to one focal length helps you know your perspective. I find zooming to be a distraction.

    I get my x100vi tomorrow so this is sooo inspiring! I can’t wait to be able to look back like you just did in this video

      Congrats!! They are great cameras you won’t be disappointed:) I pre ordered the VI but I’m thinking about canceling because my F is still working fine!! Now on year 7✨

    The Fuji X series batteries are so small (and if you are male) it is so easy to carry an extra one or two (I've never needed two) but reviewers try to make the battery life of the X series camera batteries an issue. Oh, they don't last long enough. Just carry extras in your pocket, I'm not sure what the big deal is.

      I agree with you. It isn’t a big deal to bring an extra battery. The dream especially with this style of camera is that you can leave the house with only the camera and no extra accessories. I think battery life is something worth mentioning in all camera reviews. I’m sorry that it’s triggering for you:)

    I found a great deal for a used X100F on 2020. Great little camera!
    9:15 you mentioned it’s usb-c, but unfortunately it’s micro usb. But it’s still great that you can charge the battery that way.

    I have an X100F. Can you do a video explaining the different focus modes including manual and back button modes. Thanks.

    Nice job on this video, thank you. I agree 100% about the Fuji App and Wasabi Power batteries. So many complain about the app in facebook groups, but it works fine for me and my iphone11.
    I've been using Wasabi batteries in my Fuji cameras for over 6 years now without issue. The only battery I've ever had swell was one of my OEM batteries.

    I agree with getting the black body, people don't see it. Using a wrist strap instead of a neck strap too, maybe. I'm still using a x100S, and it still makes great images AF is pretty slow. For me the best feature of the x100's is the leaf shutter and high speed sync capabilities. It's so much better than a focal plane high speed sync.

    • @JesseDeyoung
      @JesseDeyoung  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good call with the wrist strap! I started wearing grey tops to camo the silver body and it works well:) I’m just now getting into off camera flash with mine. I’m so trained on sync speeds with DSLR/mirrorless that I forget that this is an option! Good on you sticking with the S!! If it works for you it works!!

    The thumb bracket is the only item I added to the 100f as my thumb was hitting some of the back buttons and sending me into crises. Also I recommend a wrist strap, I use the Peak Design strap it quickly snaps off if I want to pocket the camera. I have the black model because I know many people think it is a phone and for some reason folks don't get as upset when their pic is taken by a phone.

    you have two digital zooms on the X100F, 50mm and 70mm which are very useful

    • @JesseDeyoung
      @JesseDeyoung  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I’m aware of the zooms. I always have my camera set to raw which makes the zoom feature unavailable.

      @@JesseDeyoung me with Fujifilm's JPEG I don't waste time with RAW 😁👌

    Did you mention the 'digital zoom' ability of the camera? When in jpeg only mode you can shoot at either (FF equivalent) 35mm, 50mm or 70mm, 50 and 70 being digital crops and up sampled. This works with both of the screw on lenses too, the TCL-100 (wide angle) can do 28mm native and, 41mm and 58mm (cropped and upsampled) and the TCL-100 (tell lens) can do 50mm native and, 72mm and 100mm (cropped and upsampled). If you shoot jpegs at full size you'll be hard pressed to tell the difference between a native and upsampled photo. I can't tell. There are YT vids on the subject. So this fixed lens camera can shoot FF equivalents of 28mm, 35mm, 41mm, 50mm, 70mm, 72mm and 100mm.

    • @JesseDeyoung
      @JesseDeyoung  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I didn’t mention mention the digital zoom because I’ve never actually used it since I always shoot in RAW+jpg. After seeing a few comments about the digital zoom I tried it out and feel like the 50 equivalent was good but the 70 kind of fell apart. It could have been my lighting conditions I’d need to test it more but I’m actually happy with the one 35mm equivalent lens!

    Great video. Is there some kind of digital in-camera zoom to reach other focal lengths?

    • @JesseDeyoung
      @JesseDeyoung  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! There is a digital zoom in this camera. I’ve never used it though. I usually just shoot at the 35 equivalent and crop in in post. Or walk closer ☺️

    so you don't lose the trigger button you have to put a rubber oring of 3mm more or less ....

    • @JesseDeyoung
      @JesseDeyoung  ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried that and it still kept falling off.. it made it look cool but didn’t effect/improve shooting quality accuracy or ability so I gave up on it 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Great review.hope your doing well.Thanks for posting this.curious if you upgraded to 100v and why or why not?how is this lens for portraits wide open?I'm interested in the 100v or 100f.I like how the 100f still has the dpad. I currently own a fuji xt2 just looking for something compact for family photos.just find the 100v is priced too high for my needs.hope to hear back.cheers Adam

    • @JesseDeyoung
      @JesseDeyoung  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Adam! I haven’t and probably won’t upgrade to the V. For me the F is the sweet spot in the X100 lineup, it has higher resolution and fast accurate autofocus and maintains the old school feel with the Dpad and lack of touchscreen. I don’t have any experience shooting portraits wide open but f2.8 and up the lens is great! It’s the perfect camera for family photos!
      Thanks for your questions I hope this helps!

      @@JesseDeyoung Thanks so much. its very helpful. I have a xt2 and very happy with the images it produces, just looking to get something more compact, just finding it hard to justify $2000.00 Canadian for the 100v for just family photos. I'm going to keep a eye out for 100f used. I'm sure I'll be happy with it. Thanks again, all the best Jesse
