There should be a mod where the shiny odds are reversed, so you have a GREATER chance of getting a shiny compared to a non shiny. That way the non shinies are rarer.

I beat Crystal with only Shiny Pokémon a few months back and it was pretty fun! The breeding mechanics in that game definitely made it significantly easier.
