  • Roger Hodgson, co-founder of Supertramp, singer/songwriter of this beautiful masterpiece, Lord is it Mine. It is quite obvious that when Roger sings, he sings from his heart. This is why his songs have touched generations. Roger wrote and composed the great classics to include Dreamer, Take the Long Way Home, Breakfast in America, The Logical Song, Give a Little Bit, Fool's Overture, Hide in Your Shell, It's Raining Again & many more. See Roger on tour: www.RogerHodgso... / rogerhodgson
To this day, many of Roger's songs are often referred to as Supertramp songs, though Roger wrote and composed alone. Many of Roger's songs he wrote before he co-founded Supertramp and many of them have become the soundtrack of our lives. The songs Roger sings lead vocals on are the ones he composed the music and lyrics for, and the songs Rick sings lead vocals on are the ones that he wrote. bit.ly/1Kfgu0W
    .
This beautiful song can be found on Roger's 'Classics Live' album, available at www.RogerHodgso...
"To the adoring fans who rise to their feet as Hodgson and his four-piece backing band take the stage... it might as well be 1979 all over again." Rolling Stone
"This is the real deal: a legendary music man, in brilliant form and shimmering presence, supported by a tight, terrific band. When you can catch a show, go. An evening with Roger Hodgson will raise your standards of concert-going." Huffington Post
    Comments from fans ~
"Who among us would not know a vacuum in our soul when we do not know how and where further, we are helpless, sad, wounded...When everything is dark and nothing seems right...We often perceive the solitude as something difficult and agonizing. Remain alone with his thoughts and the voice of his own conscience it is not always easy. But how blessed ! We are asking: Lord is it mine? Is that you who leads me now ? Is that not just my desire, my vision or an escape from reality? This song I first heard in a very difficult period of my life. Expressed perfectly what I was relived but I was not able to express it by words. And has become a song of my life. As if my inner anthem."
"Thank you for all your wonderful music, been listening for many years and each song has a very special meaning in my life..your music as indeed helped me along life's pathway and yet continues to guide, strengthens and encourages me to continue on no matter the struggles or fears that i may be facing."

Today I turned 60. It was a bad day. But then I listen to Roger, and I go back in time, a time where this world was in a better place. His music has always inspired me, but today this song made me highly emotional. Not in a bad way. That is the power of his songs, and I always feel better when I hear his voice! Thank you Roger-you are a true inspiration😘

I came across this video and your comment because I am about to turn 60 next month and I should be happy, but I’m not. I spent the past year undergoing brutal radiation and chemo treatments and surgery for cancer. While they feel they got it all, the stage of my cancer has a high chance of recurrence and I will always have that on my mind. I also have basically become disabled from the effects of the treatments. I just don’t feel the “woohoo I’m 60” mood like everyone wants me to feel. This song says it all. Hope you’re feeling better. ❤️

So I truly get where you are coming from. Please don't listen to other people-you are allowed to feel the way you do. I wish I could reach out and give you the biggest hug ever! I went into a deep depression when I turned 60. I hate it! But please know that you hold a special place in my heart, and if you want to, send me an email-I would love to keep in touch with you! I never paid much attention to Supertramp during the 70’s but now I’m in my mid 60’s and I am discovering the messages in these beautiful songs. ‘Is It Mine’ really spoke to my heart today. I’m coming up on the first anniversary of my second divorce. The feelings and emotions are running strong. This music calms my soul and helps me find myself in the chaos.

What a beautiful and poignant song about life and the times when the Lord seems absent in your trials, heartache and pain. I’m on deaths door and this song is very comforting and honest. Still trusting the Lord but we all get discouraged. Thanks Roger for this song that says so much, a real gem.

Everybody has "A Very Bad, I Wish I Could Just Make It Go Away" year. Mine was 1979. The house I was living in burned down, my 27 month old step-niece was burned over 40% of her body, eyes and ears swollen shut AND my father committed suicide with a deer rifle. A very bad year, indeed. When my father committed suicide, I probably played Supertramp's "Lord, Is It Mine" at least 100 times (OR MORE). This song just spoke to me. I have even said Breakfast in America is my favorite album of all time. I do love the other tunes, but "Lord, Is It Mine" will always be my all time favorite and remind me of my Dad.

      Hola.
Bread - Lost without your love
      Bread - Aubrey
      Bread - If
      Bread - Baby I´m - a want you
      Bread - Guitar man
Bread - Make it with you
      Bread - Sweet surrender
Bread - It don´t matter to me
      Bread - Diary
      Bread - Everything I own
      Bread - London bridge
Bread - Look what you´ve done
      David Gates - Suite : Clouds & rain ( 1973 )
      David Gates - Lorilee ( 1973 )
David Gates - Never let her go ( 1975 )
      David Gates - Where does the lovin´ go ( 1979 )
David Gates - Sail around the world ( 1973 )
      David Gates - Goodbye girl ( 1978 )
      David Gates - Take me now ( 1981 )

A school friend had just bought the record and I went to his house (he had a fantastic hi-fi system at the time). I was amazed by how many great songs there were on this record (obviously I bought it too the next day). However "Lord is it mine" has a special place in my mind and heart ... it's magical! I know in Supertramp (like the Beatles) Roger Hodgson and Rick Davis were forced to sign their songs as a couple...but.. Roger, believe me ... everyone can understand what you have composed. The melody, the harmony of this song can be only yours and the lyrics too! (also many others of course!). Absolutely amazing song!

I will be 50 next month and recently I came across Supertramp again. Takes me back to when I was about 6 and my older brothers would listen them. I was too young then to appreciate the messages in their songs. 2 of my brothers have passed away and listening to this makes me think of my brothers. Thank you Roger for your beautiful gift. ❤

He sure is, no one sounds like him vocally unique and true to his journey like we all must be
I love the chord structure to sooth the verse and the other bar to hold it up and allow it to flow back into that soothing
Man I bet you could write 3 lots of lyrics to that and he probably did
I’d love to just hang out with roger and ask him questions about life music and whatever direction the conversation took
Some people like Ferrari’s I’d rather a cup of tea with roger Hodgson and whatever time I got even if it was 20 mins

I once stayed up all night listening to their Breakfast in America album with a friend of mine who was a Vietnam Veteran having a bad time. When this song came on he finally cried. He cried it out. All the hurt and pain inside. I didn’t ask him questions. It was too raw. You don’t ask that of Our Soldiers. You respect and love them. This song always reminds me of that night when I was 19 years old. ❤️

I know that there's a reason why I need to be alone
You show me there's a silent place that I can call my own
    Is it mine
    Oh Lord is it mine
You know I get so weary from the battles in this life
And there's many times it seems that you're the only hope in sight
    Is it mine
    Oh Lord is it mine
    When everything's dark
    And nothing seems right
    There's nothing to win
And there's no need to fight
I never cease to wonder at the cruelty of this land
But it seems a time of sadness is a time to understand
    Is it mine
    Oh Lord is it mine
    When everything's dark
    And nothing seems right
    You don't have to win
And there's no need to fight
If only I could find a way to feel your sweetness through the day
The love that shines around me could be mine
So give us an answer won't you
We know what we have to do
There must be a thousand voices try ing to get through
    Ohh
    Ohh
