I have life left to experience more. I hope you gain as much as I do from Roger and the band…. It’s is truly an event to hear it every time. Thanks Supertramp, and thanks Neil Williams for introducing me to this.
I've said elsewhere that, in my opinion, Roger Hodgson is one of the greatest musicians and composers of 20th century popular music. This particular piece, though, goes beyond even that. For its sheer artistry, originality, and soul-stirring qualities it stands alongside the likes of "I am the walrus", "Stairway to heaven", and "MacArthur Park".

Fantastic!!! I always thought the marriage of a full orchestra and rock-n-roll was the best in music composition. And those writers, like RH, who can accomplish that are truly the talented ones of our time. We are the lucky ones to be privileged to listen to it and to have the open mind to understand the greatness of such a project.

Fool's Overture History recalls how great the fall can be While everybody's sleeping, the boats put out to sea Born on the wings of time It seemed the answers were so easy to find "Too late", the prophets cry The island's sinking, let's take to the sky Called the man a fool, striped him of his pride Everyone was laughing up until the day he died And though the wound went deep Still he's calling us out of our sleep My friends, we're not alone He waits in silence to lead us all home So tell me that you find it hard to grow Well I know, I know, I know And you tell me that you've many seeds to sow Well I know, I know, I know Can you hear what I'm saying Can you see the parts that I'm playing "Holy Man, Rocker Man, Come on Queenie Joker Man, Spider Man, Blue Eyed Meanie" So you found your solution What will be your last contribution? "Live it up, rip it up, why so lazy? Give it out, dish it out, let's go crazy Yeah!

It’s the Winston Churchill grab that gets me too in this special song - I am in awe of those times in war & what people had to face then (and still do to this day)
This is pure perfection!
I can't even begin to imagine what it must feel like to be in that room with Roger and that orchestra and choir. Tears are just pouring down my cheeks...

Esta canción va más allá del rock o el pop. Es una auténtica obra de arte. Se debe considerar como una auténtica sinfonía de música clásica.
I've seen this man in concert twice and both times walked away in awe of what an amazing man and performer he is ..... such a gifted , talented man and thank you Roger for the many years of joy you've given us all .
Watch this more than an 100 times, and i still get goose bumps
I always wonders what went through his mind when he performed this masterpiece for the first time live with an Orchestra and Choire. That must have been glorious feeling. ❤❤❤
He was probably relieved he finally got through it with all the moving parts involved….
You can hear him whoop at one point.
Que dire à la vie merci d’avoir traversé notre vie notre âme et le bonheur de ne jamais oublier les beaux moments que la vie nous a offert Thanks Roger 🙏

Agree with last comment about this song lifts our spirits to keep on believing there is hope beyond the chaos of life's trials! Long time fan since I was 16 in high school!
The message is to keep tuned in to the Eternal!
Truly epic song. Even in the Quietest Moments I bought on vinyl late 70s, still have it, still play it. It's one of my fav albums ever. A true masterpiece.

Fool's Overture
History recalls how great the fall can be
While everybody's sleeping, the boats put out to sea
Born on the wings of time
It seemed the answers were so easy to find
"Too late", the prophets cry
The island's sinking, let's take to the sky
Called the man a fool, striped him of his pride
Everyone was laughing up until the day he died
And though the wound went deep
Still he's calling us out of our sleep
My friends, we're not alone
He waits in silence to lead us all home
So tell me that you find it hard to grow
Well I know, I know, I know
And you tell me that you've many seeds to sow
Well I know, I know, I know
Can you hear what I'm saying
Can you see the parts that I'm playing
"Holy Man, Rocker Man, Come on Queenie
Joker Man, Spider Man, Blue Eyed Meanie"
So you found your solution
What will be your last contribution?
"Live it up, rip it up, why so lazy?
Give it out, dish it out, let's go crazy
Yeah!
Until the end of times...
Time of falkland war

Jose Ortega he is purely a legend!! I've only heard of him this morning on the radio, "Take the long way home"! Just an amazing musical masterpiece, really upbeat!
