Taking rust off an original 1968 Schwinn 5 Speed Sting-Ray Pea Picker bicycle. I used only vinegar and Aluminum foil finishing with a little chrome polish.

vinegar isn't really necessary, it works with water, even if it's extremely rusted like my bicycle but takes some time

You do not need the vinegar. Water works too.

I kept thinking, why isn't he spraying the vinegar on and then leaving it for a few hours to soak in and then wash and then polish? Leave time for the Vinegar to have a chemical reaction instead of removing it straight away...
