    Is there any rubbing on the 16x8 wheels with the 205?
    Im looking at a set but on an16x8 wheel people recommend 215 minimum width on the 8", do you have any problems running the stretched tires? ie cornering?

    • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the compliment! With the 16x8 SL wheels and the 205-45-16 shown in this video, there is no rubbing. Granted, that is primarily because the car is still raised high enough in relation to that wheel/tire combination. If you were to lower it beyond than what you see in this depiction, you would probably encounter some rubbing issues. Regarding the stretch, there is a bit of stretch; but, it is relatively mild. I did not have any issues with the set up when I was running those wheels/tires.
      I hope that is helpful to you. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. If I don't know the answer, I am sure I can help you find an answer!

    • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I had luck with mounting a 205/50/16 tire. But, it is hard to say without knowing whether your car is lowered and whether you are running fender spacers. Also, the answer may depend on the manufacturer, and whether the tire comes with "rim protectors." I know that is not much of an answer. But, perhaps it will help you determine what other questions to ask. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

  • @birdslappy
    @birdslappy 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    how was running the 17x8.5 with the 215/40 tires? Lots of rubbing on a stock body / no kit. I'm thinking of running that setup but 45 sidewall instead + amg fender spacer kit and go as low as i can without rubbing.

    • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Had I not lowered the car this much, I really would not have much trouble with rubbing. I will tell you that the big heavy wheel with the small tire will, obviously, result in reduced ride comfort!

  • @lilversoh6729
    @lilversoh6729 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How many coils cut up front and any fender spacers or fender rolling with the 17x8.5? I ordered some 17x8.5 JNC 004 with ET +15 do you know if that offset would put the wheel more out of the car or into the car?

    • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on how much you drop the car, and depending on how much you are stretching your tires, may determine how much fender rolling you need to do. Also, you might try to find an offset calculator on google, but, I think with ET +15 you will be pushing the wheel further out towards the fender - away from the suspension. Here is a calculator that seems to be helpful: tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/
      I did not roll the fenders on the car you see in the film, but I really need to do so! I believe that this car is running a fender spacer (maybe 1/2" thick). In my opinion, polyurethane fender spacers are overkill. After all, it is a glorified piece of rubber with a hole in the middle.
      Hope that helps! By the way, your new wheels are going to look fantastic!

    • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can run 18" wheels on a w201. But, you would also be running 35-series tires or less - depending on whether you want to lower the car. It might be an okay set up for car shows, etc. But, to be candid, it would be pretty uncomfortable for a daily-drive set up. Hope that is helpful to you as you weigh your options! Thank you for watching and commenting!!

    Awesome video!
    Would you say your current setup is your favorite? I've got 205/50 now on the CLK wheels on Kumhos and I def felt the weight difference even from the BBS 16x7.5 I had on before.
    I need new tires for the 190 and was toying with the idea of running the 203 wheels on the car with 215/40 but I don't want to add too much weight. Just picked up a staggered set of the 203 wheels to run on my c124 but I'm tempted to run them on the 201...

    • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Visually, with the body kit on it, the 17" wheels are my favorite. With the body kit, in my opinion, it needs the 17" wheels to balance it all out. That is, of course, personal preference.
      However, in terms of the performance, then there is no comparison to the CLK wheels. Like you noted, the weight difference and comfort factor are immediately felt. Plus, with less weight, the brakes don't have to work as hard to stop the centrifugal force. That variable is also very noticeable when switching from the CLK wheels to the 17" 203 wheels. The only downside is that I have been told that the CLK wheels bend without too much provocation. Thankfully, I have been able to avoid the worst of the potholes and curbs!
      That is my $0.02 anyways. You get what you paid for. 😉

      @@TankMouseProductions awesome dude! OK I'm gonna stick with my original plan then and keep the 16" CLK wheels on the 201. Like you said the braking and acceleration differences are so good with the light weight. Since I already have 215/45 tires on my c124 I'll just switch over to the better looking 203 wheels (fake AMG wheels on there at the moment lol).
      Now I'm trying to decide between the Dunlop ZIII spec tires for the CLK wheels or just get all seasons because winter is coming ❄️😄

    Dont u have to change the suspension to be more stiffer depending on the rim and tire since the oem suspension springs are softer?

    • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That is a good question. I would say, in theory, yes. While I will not go so far as to speak conclusively on every car and suspension set up, I can speak definitively on my own experience with the 190E 2.6 that I have owned since 2009. My experience has been that the stock springs on the 2.6 are already relatively stiff. I say that becase, when I first installed the Bilstein Sport shocks on the front and rear, I was running 195/65/15 Michelin HydroEdge tires; and, I was very surprised on the stiffness and stability of that set up with the stock springs that were cut down a bit. When I switched to 215/40/17, it was, admittedly, a very rough ride. But, because I like the wheel set up so much, I was willing to sacrifice some comfort. With all of that said, and to go back to your question, in the case of the 190E 2.6, I did not need to install stiffer springs to achieve excellent handling and performance quality. But, I did need to upgrade to the Bilstein Sport Shocks.
      I hope that was somewhat helpful to you! Thank you for your comment!

      The hubs from the w203 match the w201. So, you might say that the wheels are already hub-centric. Thus, no rings required. They are a perfect fit. The 17 x 7.5 wheels also work. • @TankMouseProductions

      If the wheels are turned pretty far to one side, then you are absolutely correct - the tires are likely to rub. Depending on the size of the pebble, the rubbing may be more or less severe. 😉 This film was definitely intended to be descriptive - as opposed to being prescriptive. Will et35 r17 with 205 tires fit? With lowered 190?

    • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the front, my ET34 rims are VERY close to my shocks. While I would think that -1 mm of clearance would not cause an issue, I am not certain. Also, what is your sidewall dimension? I am running 205/40/17 and they clear the shocks and fit inside the wheel well. But, if you are running a bigger sidewall (such as 45), and depending on whether the tire comes with "rim protectors", then they may be wider than my 205/40/17. As far as the rear of the car is concerned, the tire may be fine - depending on how far your car has been lowered - and how much weight you have in the car. I am sorry that does not really answer your question. But, I hope it helps as you think about the best way to approach your own build.

    How low is your 190? 40/40 springs or 60/60?

    • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is hard to quantify. I started with the stock springs and began cutting coils off until I reached the level where it currently sits. I included the section of this video with the 15" wheels and the 185 tires to give a general reference - as those are the original wheel and tire specs. My thought is that it is somewhere in the neighborhood of 4" shorter than stock height. Hope that helps with your calculations! Thank you for the compliment! Yes, basically all I did was lower the car - and I added "fender spacers" on the front of the fenders. Don't get overly concerned about the fender spacers; they are basically pieces of rubber about a 1/2" in thickness placed between the front of the fenders and the frame. yes, I have seen them with 18s. That said, to run 18s at the same stance that you see in this film, you would need super-thin 30-series tires. that may be fine if you are just bringing the car to shows. But, not really practical for daily use.

As for this video, I made it because I had the car, had the wheels, and decided to try them on - in order to show people how they might work on their own 190E. If anyone has found this video helpful, then that makes me very happy. 🙂 Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! 🙏

      When running the 15" wheels or the 16" CLK wheels, it is surprising how high the car actually sits. With the 17" wheels with the 40-series tires, however, then it does ride pretty low.
