Mercedes CLK | No shift from park | How to fix | A208
Stuck shifter? Won't shift out of park? Here is some (hopefully) helpful information in case you encounter this issue. For me and my 2001 Mercedes CLK 320, it was due to a faulty brake pedal switch.
Ending music is "Norway Girl" by Norway as released on their 1999 album "the Essence of Norway", produced by Ronnie Martin, released on plasticmusiq in coordination with Tooth and Nail Records. I do not own the rights to this song.

    Hi,i got a problem mine when starting is sounding like diesel engine,any idea what could be the problem?

    • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hard to diagnose without knowing all of the background. But, my first question is whether it is running rough? Is that what you mean by the car sounding like a diesel engine? I know when I had rough running issues, it was excessively rich - because the coolant temp sensor had gone bad. The oil even smelled of gasoline. Not sure if that is your issue. But, I am happy to help if I can.

    How much of a difference does the speedo shows for the two 16 inch rims? Because the R129 SL rims have 205/45/16 and the W208 CLK has 205/50/16.

    • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is an excellent question. The smaller profile tire (admittedly, much smaller than the stock size) amounts to about a 5mph speedo difference. (This video is not necessarily recommending it either way - just showing how it would look. I had that wheel/tire setup on a different car and just swapped it over for this demonstration.) • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Probably. But, it would ultimately depend on the offset and how low you want the car to sit. 9" wide wheels would probably need to poke out a bit farther than mine - so to clear the suspension and/or steering components. Hope that is helpful! Thanks for commenting!

    I actually just did the same thing. Not make a new one, but barley bumped it snapped off. I actually ordered a part, and it came with the connector attached to the new line. Unfortunately, it's not even where the leak was coming from. In your experience, do those metal clips pop off, and you just insert a new connector/ line since it's 1 piece with connectors on each side. 1 goes to the overflow 1 to where it cracked off. Any info would help. We do have a mechanic set to replace the radiator if needed. Anyway, any information would help thx Logan

    • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I am understanding your question, are you asking about the metal clip that holds the plastic connector to the engine side? If so, you can take a small screwdriver and gently pry that clip off, pop the new connecter in, and then reinsert the metal clip. I apologize if I am not accurately interpretating your question. You can also reach me on Instagram at @tankmouseproductions - if that would be an easier way to correspond. Sorry you are having issues with your car!

      Basically, I unbolted the inner portion of the shaft that connects to the differential. Then, I unbolted the outer axle nut. Thereafter, it slides right out of the hub. I hope that is, at least, something helpful. • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a good question. I would say, in theory, yes. While I will not go so far as to speak conclusively on every car and suspension set up, I can speak definitively on my own experience with the 190E 2.6 that I have owned since 2009. My experience has been that the stock springs on the 2.6 are already relatively stiff. I say that becase, when I first installed the Bilstein Sport shocks on the front and rear, I was running 195/65/15 Michelin HydroEdge tires; and, I was very surprised on the stiffness and stability of that set up with the stock springs that were cut down a bit. When I switched to 215/40/17, it was, admittedly, a very rough ride. But, because I like the wheel set up so much, I was willing to sacrifice some comfort. With all of that said, and to go back to your question, in the case of the 190E 2.6, I did not need to install stiffer springs to achieve excellent handling and performance quality. But, I did need to upgrade to the Bilstein Sport Shocks. I hope that was somewhat helpful to you! Thank you for your comment!

    The exact thing happened to me just today. I can't for the life of me figure out how to undo the clip connecting to the engine tho.

      @TankMouseProductions ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late response. It pulls up from the top. You can gently insert a small flat-head screwdriver under the top of the clip and gently prior it off. Or, if that does not work, you can use needle nose pliers and gently wiggle it off - again pulling it from the top. If you have any further questions, please feel free to type them here. Or, you can contact me directly on Instagram.

      @@TankMouseProductions I got it! It was simpler than I thought but with your tip I was more confident to put more force on it. After having that adapter break off, I didn't want to be too rough on it 😂. Anyways I got a replacement part from Mercedes and quickly got it fixed now. Thanks for your quick reply!

      I have the same issue. Seems like everything is very brittle. Do you just pop clip off with a flat head, and the connector should come out? I just bought a new line, and it came with the connectors attached to the line

    I wish I could find a well-made EV0-1 kit. I’d like a lower wider stance without that huge wing on the trunk like the EV0-2.

      I absolutely agree with you. I think the EVO 1 kit is the best, most-balanced kit for the car. The EVO II is just a little too much for the car's lines, in my opinion.

    Would cutting the springs alone result in lowering the car? I would assume it would cause other issues at the same time? I want to plan how I'll lower the car after i get a set of 17x8.5 wheels to look right, not trying to slam it 😄

    • @TankMouseProductions
      @TankMouseProductions ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late response here! Technically, the answer to your question is "yes." However, if you don't already have the sport shocks, then you are not going to be able to lower the car very far at all. The stock shock absorbers are very tall. Please feel free to reach out with any other questions!

      @@TankMouseProductions no worries! Thanks for your reply, I’m really trying to figure this out and I appreciate your help. Okay that makes sense, the sport shocks have more resistance right? Maybe I can get my desired look with cut stock springs and sport shocks? I know there’s lowering springs available but not sure if they will be enough so that’s why i was thinking to cut the stock ones and see how it ends up.

      @@birdslappy you can absolutely cut the stock springs. Because the old-school Mercedes springs are not "progressive rate" springs, you will still have the same performance quality throughout the spring's travel. Some folks discourage cutting springs; but, I have put thousands of miles on cut old-school Mercedes springs with no issues. And, yes, the sport shocks will be much stiffer than the stock shock absorbers. Feel free to reach out with any other questions. If I don't know the answer, I will help you find the answer! In my opinion, the Mercedes 190E is the coolest car they have ever made. 😎
