    Just did tubeless conversion using the valve from an old inner tube and here's what I did differently: I cut off almost all rubber from the base of the valve, leaving maybe a millimeter around it. I then cut a square o-ring from a silicone vacuum hose and slid it on the valve, so that the rubber that I left on it backs up this o-rig and doesn't let it slip from the end of the valve. On the rim I put a strip of Gorilla tape over the existing rim tape (the wheel was already set up for tubeless) in the area of the valve hole. I then punctured a small hole in Gorilla tape right over the center of the valve hole and pushed the valve through. I finally threaded the nut on the valve giving some pre-load to the o-ring, creating a tight seal.

    Getting good at tubeless so gave myself a test: use the original alloy wheels of my 1977 steel bike, old Gravel Kings, makeshift stems and electrical tape. Worked! Several old tire pinholes sealed up nicely; a stem needed a makeshift O ring (small rubber band wrapped around its base). Nice no-cost conversion. I wonder how they'll hold up with heavy use, especially on gravel.

    A pair of tubeless valves are 3 USD on Ali. I think I fainted for a bit when you started to drill the damn wheel instead of putting an O-ring between the rim and the valve. Also you can use your local version of gorilla tape which is modifiable in width. If you want to go super fancy Tesa 4288 or 4289. Or comparable Scotch model. (i would rather buy a new rim than remove gorilla tape)

A couple of years of i’ll go I Purchased a set of vuelta corsa team v wheel set . And I was just wondering how they are regarded in the cycle world. My front wheel spins for ever just wanna and it does do that trick that you said when you spin it if the bike is upside down and I only do that on my shag rug in the living room not on the concrete if the bike is upside down and I spin the front wheel the air valve stops at 6 o’clock. And when I mean the thing spends forever it dose . In the back spins really long to except the free hub slows it down a bit. They are Eloi wheels but they are the aerodynamic they are shallow aerodynamic I would say not very deep but they are definitely a V-shaped chrome Molly spokes what red aluminum anodized nipples they really look cool. But if you heard or have an opinion on them please let me know thank you very much. Oh by the way my bike is a 2000 Le Mans Nevada city 853 steel frame and fork with everything 6700 Ultregra what is FSA carbon fiber handlebars FSA carbon fiber seat post and a time carbon fiber seat the whole thing with computer aboard in a small under the seat Bag weighs in at 19.8 pounds I don’t think that’s bad for steel. SO and at last i give you a tip For Cheap Great Tubeless Tape!!!
    Get Tesa 4289, it cost about 10€ and a roll has great 60 meters of Tape on it.
    When using Electrical Tape, it can get burst because it is to soft for the Air Pressure. The 4289 has stretching newton of 420 what is quite way more than Eletrical Tape!
    The Last tip i can get you: Use 24" Tube and cut it in half, so the Top Side goes awy which has mostly the punture in it. Also great to use it when you cant use the Smal ventil on your rim, so you need to use the bigger one.
    Then Please thinkl of that he can save money oon the Tyre because this one is already Tubeless Ready! Dont try to use your old not ready tyre. You will get not happy with that!

    • @FatbocSlin
      @FatbocSlin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tubes weight is rotating mass sitting outermost on your wheels, so it will have more of an effect than saving the same weight on cassette or disc brakes.
      As it is unsprung weight it will also have more of an effect on handling than saving the weight on the frame or taking a dump before your ride.
      You also get more grip because the tire can deform better to the ground surface and you can also run lower pressure for even more grip.

    • @gfreire57
      @gfreire57 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      also you will not need to stop every time your tube gets a small puncture. So you will be able to ride more time and without worrying about flat tires!

      On low pressure on tubes you're risking to tear off the valve.
      On low pressure on tubeless you'll get tyre slip, depressurization and wont be able to pump it again in fields, that's worse then ripped tube
      Isn't that so?

    • @gfreire57
      @gfreire57 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tomekvilmovskiy6547 yes, that is possible to happen. But if you be careful when choosing the correct tire pressure, it won't happen. Only if your tires are on very very low pressure (you will not be able to ride at this point hahaha) or if you shred very hard on a berm, for example.
      Tubeless tires and rims also have a different design: the rims have some kind of grooves inside where tires can fit, so they "huge" them.
