I recently bought a 2012 Tiguan. I’ve changed the oil on every car I’ve ever owned and this is the first one that I’ve come across with a crush washer on the oil plug (only have owned US and Japanese vehicles). He mentions it in the video, but it really needs to be emphasized. If your oil plug has a crush washer and not some kind of neoprene type washer, you need to replace it every time you change your oil. If you don’t, there is a strong chance that your oil pan will leak, probably a lot. They are inexpensive, but they do need to be changed. Perhaps this is very obvious to many of you, but maybe it will prevent someone from doing what I did yesterday. I called the local dealership and they said they replace that washer on every oil change. ✌️

Also, be sure to use an OEM oil filter such as Mann. I used an STP filter because it was the only one that AutoZone had that fit the car. I got a low oil pressure warning on the dashboard. I ordered a Mann filter and changed it out. This fixed the problem and the warning message went away. Hope this helps someone.

That makes since... I've had my oil changed a few times and now, it seems like it's losing oil quickly

Wish I saw this the first time I changed my girlfriend’s oil. Thanks for actually listing the size of tools! Took me many guess trips to the store.
