No need for downriggers. Fishing after Work

  • We didn't feel like trolling with scotty manual downriggers- So we didn't bring them at all. We used banana weights with mini flashers and mini hootchies. We threw buzz bombs and twitching jigs. We caught our salmon closer to the surface during a cloudy afternoon bite. This video takes place in the Puget Sound during a cold front. The fishing was tough, but we would get pods of fish to wake up frequently enough to make it fun!

      It’s more about timing than anything. We fish a lot and usually don’t bring cameras. This was from the peak of the run

    Cool video. Thinking about upgrading my jon boat to something that can handle the Sound a little better, but probably won't pick up downriggers right away.

    Hey first time seeing your videos. Great job, looked like a blast! When you say the weight you guys were using were 6, 8 and 10 is that referring to the ounces? I feel dumb for asking but I am new to trying to troll without a downrigger.

    • @FishinOriginal
      @FishinOriginal  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that’s ounces. We’ve since used weights as heavy as 20 oz… make sure you get a rod that can handle it. Tackle shop guys can help

      Oh, wow! Do you find the 20oz helps get to your desired depth better than the 10oz? Or just depends on conditions? Thanks for the info, much appreciated@@FishinOriginal

      In that video, we are targeting pinks. If you were to go out today, would be targeting silvers. I would say 12 to 20 ounce is necessary to get you to most of the fish. For pinks 40 feet is the magic number and for silver 65 is.

    People who think pink fishing is lame are elitist! It's fun as hell 😏

    Holding a spinning rod like that is criminal. Use a bait caster if your gonna hold your rod like that💀
