    Man I wish I could have articulated this to my trainer on how to show me how he diagnoses. I understood everything you were explaining the first time around!!! I’ll be following you very closely and it’s sad bc I’ve been in this field for two years and still greener than green. Thank you sir!!

      2 years is a little while but lots of changes happening and stuff to keep up with. It is truly one of those life long learner things. I had a guy that loves to weld...it is just his thing...but he told me this is why hvac drives him crazy. Too many possibilities and too much diagnosing to do for his liking. Keep going with this and it gets easier and you develop your own styles and thought process for troubleshooting.

      @@johnjennings-JJ was a helper the first year and change in the commercial field. And I see why package rtus are easier than split systems. Any videos on water source unit ?

      We have so few of them here that I don't really come across them.

    I have a 6yr old Goodman furdown 2.5 ton 10kw. My thermostat wire had the Blue wire cut on both ends. Only have 4 wires connected to thermo and I power it with AAs. If I install a new smart thermo that requires a C wire, how can I get 24v to the thermostat? Thanks for your great videos!!

    • @johnjennings-JJ
      @johnjennings-JJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So it sounds like you don't have any spare wires available to use if I assume correctly. Maybe 3 choices? #1 - Usually, but not always, contractors run a thermostat wire with a few more conductors than needed and a little slack in the wire as well. Maybe try to pull a little slack from the thermostat end of the wire...you may be able to get enough out of the wall to either connect to the new tstat or at least extend the cut blue wire. Of course the end of the wire by the unit has to be extended to be connected on that end. #2 - find a smart thermostat that uses less wire. J once installed a carrier thermostat that had a sub base (like most others) for all your low voltage wires to connect but the face of it could be "remoted" to another wall using only 2 wires. We mounted the sub base to the air handler and used 2 wires of the thermostat to "remote" the face of it to the normal tstat location. I will have to try to find that model again if I can. #3 - probably most logical - run another tstat wire and make sure it has more conductors than you need. If I need 6 for a heat pump install, i run a 18/8 tstat wire, 18 gauge 8 conductor.

    I like this video, I'm going to check an old electric heater tomorrow 09/14/2022. The customer said they don't feel the hot air. I hope to find something to repair.

    • @johnjennings-JJ
      @johnjennings-JJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably something simple like most calls I would imagine. Electric heat is like an 80% furnace...almost as simple as you can get! Thank for checking it out.

    QUESTION: 1.3 AMPS IN FAN MEANS HIGH SPEED?

    • @johnjennings-JJ
      @johnjennings-JJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forgot exactly in this video. Only way I would say to do it is look at the PSC motors leads and identify which one is Hi, Med, Low...the one pulling amps is the te being used! Whatever the amp draw number is.

    When wiring 24 volt system where does the pink and purple wires hook to

    Why do I get 24vac on my contactor but is not pulling in

    • @johnjennings-JJ
      @johnjennings-JJ  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds to me to be a bad coil. You can use the meter to check for resistance of the 24v coil. Power off, remove the wires from the coil connections amd check the resistance (ohms). It will likely read "OL" on your meter. If so, coil is bad. Replace contactor!

    Can be more thorough your language should be full descriptive sentences. Don’t just say I will leave my lead on common, say, I will leave my lead on low voltage. As if you’re talking to a green student always. leave as little as possible to the imagination in explanation.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
