    If you fill some of the bottles with water and freeze them they can take the place of the ice you added to the condenser. The cold lasts longer and when you are done you just put them back in the freezer.

    In fact, by heating plastic without oxygen (it is a closed vessel), you create pyrolysis gas (which includes toxic parts). In the cooler you condense a part of it, depending on the temperature. The remaining gas leaving your seperator (the last vessel) is flammable, so lead it to your combustion area:). One big danger: depending on the composition of the plastics, the fuel and the gasses can (shall) be toxic....so in a more professional build up, you want flue gas cleaning

    Impressive, but I can't be the only one concerned about the plastic pipe with petrol in it right over naked flame! Definately shield the plastic tubing from heat and perhaps use a rocket stove or woodgas stove to heat the pan (both can be made easily using tin cans) so that you require less wood and the heat is concentrated right beneath the pan. Great video, though, good to see people converting waste into fuel using low tech DIY methods.

      That's the least of his worries considering how incredibly toxic this entire procedure is, also turning plastic into gasoline is the absolute worst thing you can do to plastic when it comes to the environmental impact its even worse than just burning it in an open fire. You see this all the time in the none developed world where people don't really have many options and it can be quite a fatal endeavour when you scale it up.

    small heads up; use metal or glass containers, or dedicated fuel containers, since most plastics will DISSOLVE when exposed to petroleum products like petrol/gasoline.
    Metal tubing would be better for controlled cooling since plastic is a VERY POOR conductor, then you could also run a chain of catch containers, the first for heavier oils, and the second for lighter fuels and so on
    Second item of note: you can use some of the byproduct (pick one you want to keep, namely diesel or gasoline and burn the other) as fuel to heat the pressure container rather than wood

    NOT petrol! At best, after refining it you can use it to power diesel engines BUT be careful, the newer diesel engines today are tuned very efficiently and won't run as good, might even damage a sensor/filter. You could get away with adding it at 4:1, 1 part plastic fuel to 4 parts diesel, but you are still changing the rate of burn. A friend of mine makes it and he runs an old ford transit on it, never had a problem so far, but he does distill it properly over several stages.

    • @sirlinkthefourth6755
      @sirlinkthefourth6755 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The guy in the video did make petrol and diesel and kerosene, separating the 3 is quite easy if you wanted to since they all have different weight points, this is really no different than the distillation of oil dug up from the ground the main difference being way more toxic waste is produced when you do it with plastic.
      I will also i will note that if you're thinking about this to be cheap then fair enough but if you're thinking about being environmentally friendly this is the objectively worst thing you can do to plastic waste, that's not a matter of opinion that's basic chemistry.

    This whole thing is crazy and I'm about to watch some more videos to see if this really works as far as making fuel because when you put that little drop of oil at the end you can see the gasoline already on the ground and when you light it with the flame the whole area that you could see the gasoline already at Burns except the part you put the oil doesn't really burn any better you know what I'm saying. Why is your fuel for your fire to melt the stuff waste spread out and why do you use that tube?

    • @paulgardner5928
      @paulgardner5928 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Nate SoundZ, The principal of this is sound, but this guys implementation is Sooo wrong. First, I cannot imagine that after 20 minutes of cooking that the plastic hose would be anything but melted mush. I would have expected to see WAY more carbon on the Pressure cooker. The image of that much liquid (presumably fuel) flowing through the hose on the way to the condenser is unrealistic, otherwise, why would you need a condenser. Given the way the contraption was setup, the condenser would have had to been FULL with condensed fuel pretty much before you would have gotten any fuel in the catch container since the condenser was BELOW the fuel catch container. I suppose the fuel on the ground that you noted could be chalked up to a previous test, however, this process (with out actual fractional distillation) I don't think would give you a fuel that is that volatile (Diesel lights slow which is, I believe the primary output of the gasification of plastics). Finally, why not show (like pretty much every other video) the fact that the vapor gas coming out of the final tank is also flammable.
      Again, the principal of gasification of plastic is sound, but I think this guy is way, is not exactly kosher.

    The petrol like fluid may need to have higher octane number, people can add water or methanol to the fluid to raise octane number.
    Methanol can be distilled from wood and plants.

And if I'm not mistaken I believe you're going to want 2 elevate those jugs, as it is a condensation and evaporation process that your executing. so the higher the bottle the better the fuel!

      @@jensen5668 Environmental concerns aside, the octane rating of the fuel will need to be determined. Petrol/gasoline engines are tuned based on both fuelling and ignition timing advance. If you use a fuel with too low an octane rating the engine will knock/ping/detonate and would cause serious damage. Also there is the possibility of carbon deposits (I can't say if this would occur as I don't know what the pyrolysis oil mixture is) which can cause pre-ignition during the compression stroke and under load conditions, destroy the engine, likely putting a rod through the block. Without specific data of exactly what the flammable oil is, it's impossible to say with certainty. If you were determined however and up for experimentation, at least fit a knock sensor to your engine block and with the corresponding knock light on your dash so you can watch for engine knock whilst taking it easy, see any knock then back off on the throttle immediately. There are anti-knock additives that can be added (assuming they dissolve and won't react in any way), in the old days they used tetraethyl lead (now banned, because of the lead toxicity), today they use MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) as an anti-knock additive. In theory, and with a bit of luck, a blend could perhaps be made that could at least be safe for the engine. That would just require a bit of R&D and experimentation, and the blend would have to be consistent so best made in large quantities that would last until the next batch that would have to be retested.
      Whilst alcohols tend to have a very high octane rating (hence their use in race engines with water/methanol injection for instance), oils tend to have a low octane rating. Diesel has a terribly low octane rating of around 45 or so, that's why you shouldn't add/blend it with gasoline for use in a gasoline engine (at least not very much as it will reduce the overall octane rating a bit), but since diesel engines use direct injection (no spark plug and therefore not ignition timing advance) it's not a problem for diesel engines.
      On a side note, if you use a modern fuel injection vehicle with a stand alone engine management system installed and do your own tuning, you can reduce the timing advance for low octane fuel, you'll just lose some power/efficiency.
      Another option for you regarding octane considerations, would be to install a water injection system that sprays water into the intake manifold. I've built multiple systems, I currently use an Aquamist 15% methanol water injection system that fully tuneable for all ranges of RPM/boost. The water effectively increases the *in cylinder* octane rating, allowing for more timing advance and higher efficiency/power. Useful to know in a post apocalyptic scenario where you can't get the likes of MTBE or other complex molecules delivered to your front door but only have low octane fuel(s) available for your gasoline engine.
