The stock should be “Finished” prior to checkering. Then you’ll go back and stain or finish the checkering afterward. The smith hard finish helps produce a better quality checker.

@@tradesmanfirearms unless your willing to spare free tools then I will be fine. I was doing a comparison of what is expected. I know not to make a “special” design as you did complicating things. I am trying to make things as simple as I can. Your videos are truly a help to give me a better visual of what is to be expected. Thank you again.
