What a badass vehicle
For the classes I went out the some of the local gun shows and bought broken guns to fix and restore. I don't know if they still offer it but when I attended in 2017 I was able to get a dealer account at Brownells to purchase the extra tools and materials I needed for blueing.
@@sircrashalot55 I believe that’s still true. There are quite a few discounts available while you’re a student.
Thank you great information!
Thank you for the info. I'm new to all of this, considering your school. Question, can one get financial aid to recieve help for all supplies needed? Also, will I eventually need a specific gun or so for practice later or stuff like that ? Again very new with this. Online courses 😊
@@happyjoy77edgin73 you don’t need anything to take the courses. They provide all the tools you really need. You don’t need a specific firearms but you do need at least 1. Feel free to ask any other questions. I’m not affiliated with the school. Just a student. But anyway I can help I will.
@tradesmanfirearms Thank you so much, I feel better. I've been burned before and wanted to make sure that I heard everything right. I was really surprised that they send everything to you even for the online students. Joy from Tennessee. 😃
@ sure! Let me Know if you need anything.
To anyone saying you don’t get to touch firearms at all. Yes this is true but I got a BA in Criminal justice and not once did I arrest someone, or over see and pass judgement on a court case. It’s an academic school with a lot of ready. It’s a new program so it’s probably going to be shit until there is experience in building better curriculum.
@@beardedguy7321 I literally snorted reading the comment about not getting to do criminal justice stuff lol. Great analogy. Haha
I really like how you plan on doing things with the machining program which is to me the absolute most important part of completion for anyone who can't go to a school weather obligationd=s or distance, etc. Just get that Manufacturing program under your belt and I like the idea of the other courses with AGI and inOregon that's kind of what I had to do was get my associates in Manufacturing here in Detroit which bec ause of the motor city had some amazing choices then what you learn with in my case AGI is just that much easier. Hope things continue to go well for you.
@@wicky76 thanks man! Things are going great so far!
SDI is a scam. Literally everything they're going to teach you can be found on TH-cam. Use your GI Bill for a trade school on how to weld or machine. SDI is nothing more than a Lego tutorial on how to "build" (assemble) mediocre guns.
You will only get out of it what you put into it. It's not a scam but a program to get your foot in the door.
How was rsr not mentioned

<sigh> How to buy a $500 gun, put $250 worth of parts in..and still be left with a $500 gun. Marvelous.
@@lenzielenski3276 hahaha, ok. <eye roll> my dad loved it, pretty much all I cared about.
If you can turn a barrel bushing that easily with your fingers, its too loose. No, you definately don't want to polish it, that would only make it looser. This is why Browells and Wilson sell a BUSHING WRENCH. Sure, visual and magnification is OK, but looking at witness marks FIRST would be a good step.
Seriously, that was a week 5 lesson in Advanced Armorer? My friend, you got took. (that's slang for taken advantage of). I'm just a self taught guy but I'd expect checking and fitting hood length, reaming a chamber, lug cutting a barrel, fitting a barrel bushing and up linking. If I recall, these are 8 week courses so if this is week 5 what do they teach in week 1, what a trigger is or what a hammer does?
I call bs. Its a scam. that's why they sponsor the big gun channels for 5k per.
Started my checkering class this week. Thanks for these videos

What’s better SDI or AGI
Only info I can help with is SDI is accredited and can apply for financial aid. AGI is not accredited and have to pay out of pocket.
Yes it's called going to a trade school and learning how to run things like a lathe and a cnc machine. If you truly genuinely want to become a gunsmith go to a trade school and learn how to run a CNC machine. That opens the door to not just gunsmithing, but other fields. And if you still want to become a gunsmith then you can become someone's apprentice. Gunsmithing is a hands on job field. Not some GI scam that shows you free TH-cam videos and manuals you can find on the internet.
@@generalgreevus8773 I own and run a lathe and have a decent cnc machine for building cars. I also work a full time job so being someone’s puppet isn’t ideally realistic for me right now.
@@TugBoatTuffy Then SDI will not offer you anything you don't already know. I won't tell you how to spend your money, but 22k is a lot of money

Hello sir, I'm a fellow SDI grad. Great video. Do you have plans for that press?
You need to take an English 101 class before you start. Some instructors are ridiculous hard asses on proper sentence structure. the fact that you know the material is beside the point. But if you use a comma instead of a period you'll flunk an assignment. Some of them are relentlessly ridiculous about it. Because gunsmithing is a course that proper sentence structure is critical and all.
Great video. Really appreciate the insight. Just wanted to let you know I started my home based FFL business here in SC back in April 2024 and was able to get a Zanders account. I can send you the account rep name if interested.
After looking around on the internet a couple days it seems like the general consensus is to start with becoming a Gunsmith's Apprentice, but I'm honestly not sure where to start looking for an apprenticeship for gunsmithing. Any advice?

@Tradesman Firearms do you know the damage you are doing by referring United States veterans to SDI? It is a complete and utter waste of nearly 22k. SDI rakes in multi-millions of dollars teaching online gunsmithing courses and they are terrible instructors teaching a bunch of irrelevant crap. I strongly urge anyone that has intentions of pursuing ANY sort of gunsmithing to find a 'real' instructor and do it in person. Nobody is going to take a certificate or a degree from SDI seriously. At best, you will be able to work the line at Ruger for a little better than min. wage.
Yeah It sucks compared to a machinist degree which can be used for everything
@@jason200912 Exactly right but the only problem with degrees in machining is the length of time. Not an easy feat nor is metallurgy. Blacksmithing, welding, fabricating aka generic name metalworking. Some of the engineers are well versed with metals much of the time having a metallurgy degree and machining degree or bridging programs. Wish I had taken some courses while I was in the military before retiring out and not having a useful skillset other than security.
So basically, if you live in the barracks, go down range and find yourself a wife so you can get into a house w/ a shop and attend SDI. Roger that!
Great video easy explanations and great video work. One thing I was taught was to put a little of your new oil into the new oil filter as you are changing it so its primed.
Awesome!
