I love this! you tell such well detailed explanation of Raven's past and how she developed, people who aren't comic/dc fans don't know the meaning behind each character & quickly judge saying raven sucks she's a demon she's even. V.C. Nguyễn I don't have them, unfortunately, and I imagine that some comics would be difficult to find. So, I really can't, right now.
Alyson Rodrigues That's why you either buy them or you borrow them from the library.
The library will most likely have the 2003-2011 series as well as the New 52 stuff. You can buy anything else.
DC Comics literally just re-released _The New Teen Titans_ starting last year. That's where Raven debuted in the 1980s. The first two volumes are out and the third will be out this September. Look it up on Amazon. The prices aren't bad.
I also highly recommend _Teen Titans: Earth One_. It's set in a different timeline and continuity, so you don't have to read anything else since anything you'll need to know is within that book. Raven is Native American Navajo in it. I think that Navajo Raven might be my favorite Raven so far. If you have some knowledge of DC Comics history, then you could pick up on the little clues and Easter eggs, but knowledge isn't important to have to enjoy the book. Only volume one is out so far. I cannot wait until volume two is out!
Good luck getting these titles. I recommend starting with the library if money is an issue.

OMG! Thank you so much for actually knowing something about Raven. I try to talk to people about comic books, and they are all like :Oh, yeah Superman," or "Batman". If I mention the Teen Titans the first thing they remember is Robin, and they barely know anything about Raven!
Raven's my favorite character of the Teen Titans comic too. And I love her and BB together.
Raven can easily become a top tier superhero in the comics. I'm still waiting for an arc where Trigon takes over apokolips. That would be so awesome.

You know what would be cool? Cartoon Network had a kiddy-cartoon morning, a cartoon session for teens in the afternoon, and adult swim at night. What if some channel started with a kiddy show (like cartoon network did), got a bit more serious, (like cartoon network did) and then got mature (*ahem* Uncle Grandpa *ahem*) to match the generation matching it? They could pull-in so many people, and it GROWS with the audience. . .

I know you all might hate Teen Titans go, but remember her spell azarath metrion zinthos(or possibly xinthos)? I looked it up Azarath=her home Metrion=Raven's real name(possibly) Zinthos (or Xinthos)= Raven's pet raven's name (possibly) This may not be real, but, just saying
Azarath Metrion Zinthos was never in the comics, and this show is about comics, not cartoons.

"Azarath Metrion Zinthos": Azarath is where Raven came from. Metrion and Zinthos were used because the creators liked the sound of it.

The New 52 is full if hits and misses like most content. While some characters are written out or not touched on, I'm happy Static is still around. I only wish he was around more.

I love Raven from the show. I have honestly not read the comics but I stumbled on this video and was curious. Wow the Teen Titan show makes Raven so pg 13 while the comics added the maturity label on her. It is really interesting to know.

I wore it for a lot of my early videos because my hair was so damaged from over using peroxide that a lot of it fell out.
I can't even wear wigs properly. I'd probably need to cut my hair quite a bit. That one looks awesome. Is that blue, purple red thing you've got going on there also a wig or what?
No, that's my natural hair now. I just grew all of my hair out again so it was all virgin hair, and now I'm more careful with peroxide as I dye it. It's honestly the healthiest it's been in about 6 years.

So to bleach it, I only bleach my roots once every six weeks. That gives it enough time to sort of recover and relax from the previous bleaching. Then the red and the blue is done by using a vegetable dye, which conditions my hair while it's on.
Then for the shape I use Gatsby wax from japan, and Got2B hairspray.
I got into Teen Titans in middle school. I got lost in the world of DC, MARVEL and Anime and they really helped me not to focus so much on the rage and pain when my Mom died suddenly while I was in 7th grade. Raven has always been my favorite Titan, and after only watching a few episodes I was sold on the idea of Raven and Beast Boy being soul mates to the point that I wrote it all over my binder and doodled it on my schoolwork when I was bored and the comic books have only fueled my obsession of that couple. I just wish Raven didn't have to go through all that.

You guys know nothing, this guy is spot on, i read amd researched everything myself months before i even found this, he isnt basing it on the cartoon. hes basing it on the comics, pick one up and read it people. Raven is still the best btw. Also, her and beast boy dated for awhile, in the comics, and they loved each other alot, so, but in the new 52 beast boy is dating terra, and not raven, so. hes spot on, idk about you guys, but this is great.

I'm not so sure about that. There were a lot of signs that pointed that she did care about him, even if they weren't a cannon couple. I think if the show had gone another season or two, they would have ended up together, just as beast boy dated Terra first in the comics, so too would he date her first in the show before realizing how crazy he is about her.
And that makes me even sadder about the fact that it was cancelled so soon! I agree with you.
I always got the impression in the cartoon that she begrudgingly developed a crush on him over time. They never actually realized their feelings, but the fan reception was enough to convince the writers that it should be a thing. It hadn't occured to them before as Raven was too old, matronly, reserved, and Gar was a champion skirt chaser... "champion" here not meaning "successful."
I'm doing a college project on Raven in my superheroes class, so this was super helpful to narrow down the story plot so I can get a good head start and a better understanding. Thank you so much for making this video!

Raven is like my favorite character and she is like the most awesomest Teen Titan in the history of Teen Titans. Sadly though, I've only watched the show and I haven't read the comics but I really want to though. Anyway you are like a genius by giving us a wonderful history on Raven and now I really want to learn more about her and the rest of her team. Thank you for giving me more information about my favorite character out of all of the DC super hero shows. Once again you are like soooooooooooooooooooooooo awesome.

Isn't the problem that DC (not to mention Marvel) up and erases and reboots their own histories rather often so you can't be sure what "history" is real or what is no longer relevant. Then you have the multiverse concept where you have shows like Young Justice taking place on entirely different versions of "reality" and then Teen Titans Go which seems to be taking place on DC Earth-Kiddies
Not really ^^;; DC have only rebooted their continuity once, which was for Flashpoint in 2011, they have had events which clean it up, like crisis on infinite earths, but its generally easy to put the pieces together after a crisis event.
To give you a frame of reference, crisis on infinite earths happened in 1985, flashpoint was in 2011. That is not often what so ever. Character history, when your focusing on the mainstream DC universe, which is what I do in this show, is easy in terms of following continuity.
But now they have Cyborg being a founding member of the Justice League so how could he have been in Teen Titans all those years?
That happened after flashpoint though. Just consider Pre-Flashpoint and Post-Flashpoint two different things and it all becomes a lot easier.
Before Flashpoint New Earth was the mainstream DC universe, which is what this video largely focuses on, then after Flashpoint Prime-Earth became the main DC universe, in which a number of characters got all new origins. It's honestly not that hard to follow.
Eventually in the new 52.... (SPOILER)... Raven eventually manages to take that mask off her head. In doing so she tells everyone around her that she now severs her destiny from her father. Beast Boy runs up and says "This calls for a hug!"...
Raven in a disturbing kind of way tells beast boy, she can still rip out his soul!
But beast boy says "Oh you're such a kidder!"
So we may see Raven come back.

I love your "history of" series! You carry on the video quite well without having to resort to jump cuts after every five seconds. There are jump cuts, but they aren't distracting in the least bit. There was one issue of _Titans_ before the New 52 where Trigon's sons seemed to kill him in order to steal his powers, but I don't know if he ever came back after that.

Hey, I would really like it if you would do the history of Swamp Thing. Its a cool character and a cool back story. Also as a bonus you should add in a few powers and abilities that the characters have when you review them. Hope these suggestions help!
So in the Teen Titans TV cartoon, what part of Raven's history does that represent?
It doesn't. The Cartoon is loosely base off the 1985 Teen Titans series, but at the end of the days its its own thing.
So what you're saying is that the cartoon isn't canon? Also, if it is, I'm assuming it'd have to be before the Titans had to kill her the first time.
The Cartoon isnt canon at all, its an adaptation meaning while its similar, it largely does its own thing.
The cartoon is her history up to where Trigon comes to Earth through Raven and the teen titans defeat him. Raven also dies when Trigon enters Earth, but she gets reanimated ( i think that the right word?) through giving a piece of her powers to each teen titan member before she dies and when Robin (Nightwing) finds her she has a white robe instead of a blue robe.
please correct me if i missed anything or i have got anything wrong, I am not a comic book reader.
