However, Ghold didn't Z all too much from my recollection, playing primarily similar to how it did in normal OU. One of the oldest Pokémon I have was a Bisharp from White 1. Along with his other teammates from 2011, I beat the Unova League with it, won a few IRL battles with it, transferred it all the way to Gen 9 and picked up the Hall of Fame entries along the way, and raised it up to Level 100. And I then evolved it to Kingambit, because if there’s one Bisharp who “stands above all others”, it’d be mine. (Let’s hope the BW remakes have Kingambit included in the Dex!)

Bisharp is an excellent pokemon with a long list of resistances and immunities and notably, access to False Swipe, Swords Dance, and Thunder Wave. I caught one in the Wild Area in Sword and used her to fill my pokedex. When the DLCs came out, she did excellently against the new legends. Then when Home was added to SV, I brought her to Violet and evolved her into Kingambit. She did excellent against the legendaries of the Indigo Disk, with most being completely unable to damage her. Even the fire types had trouble. I look forward to clicking False Swipe with her many generations into the future. Long live Queengambit!

Why was Pawniard's presence in other lower tiers completely ignored? Like, it's more interesting to see baby Pokemon being able to take on fully evolved ones than just Little Cup.
I remember Pawniard as the most annoying Pokemon to go up against in Pokemon Conquest's ninja stories, where you can only use Poison, Ghost, Dark, and Dragon type Pokemon (which means Dragon Rage is a thing in a story where you're going to remain at low levels) unless you have Pokemon of other types registered in the Gallery. It being immune to Poison, quad resisting Ghost and Dark, resisting Dragon, and its ability Parry to cause contact moves to sometimes miss is why.
I find it hard to believe that Bisharp was one of those Pokemon that bounced between OU and UU throughout the years before finding solid footing in OU this gen as Kingambit. Terastalization is one hell of a drug along with Supreme Overlord. Do wish it kept Knock Off, though.

An hour-long video talking about just Kingambit wouldn't be very surprising, despite only existing for one generation. If that doesn't show how absurd Kingambit is, even on a conceptual level, then I don't know what will. A prime example of expanding power creep and min-maxing in the mainline Pokémon games, if Kingambit existed in Gen 6 it would be a Mega Evolution as is, even without Tera.
It's so wild to that they had to remove knock off from the entire line and Kingambit is still THAT good- the timeline where they didn't makes me shudder..
As a former LC player back in gen 8 it was kinda nostalgic watching those synergies once again, Pawniard is my fav Pokémon because of competitive play so I really enjoyed this video, thanks FSG
Can’t wait to see how good Kingambit will be once the Ubers become legal. I’d say the sun summoners of Ubers could give it trouble as well as Zacian and Zamazenta, but it does seem like a good counter to Solgaleo, Lunala, and the Calerex riders.
I can just imagine the five Pokémon facing in front of you ready to fight and the Kingambit sitting at his throne , observing as if it were his subjects and comrade in arms. Then when the line is breached, he gets up, sharpens his blades, and is out for one thing: Revenge. The boss now fights with fury as each hit from those blades are a piece of his comrades that fight for him and unleashed it 10 full.
Pawniard was in Subzero Used in gen 8, despite a good niche in Zero Used. In gen 9, it’s fallen out of both metas after losing Knock Off while the DLC has increased the power level.
I played B2, my Pawniard is the ace of my team (alongside Lampent). I nicknamed him after Rex, as in Generator Rex; the steel superhero from Man of Action.
10:46 Kingambit is amazing! One odd reference it has is to Miyamoto Musashi one of the most legendary swordman in Japan As when Kingambit is standing (The animation that goes off whenever he gets out of his PokeBall and stands on his legs) he has the exact same pose as Miyamoto Musashi has on his most famous painting Apparently that goofy pose is one of the best guard poses ever developed... But has yet to be replicated by a KING of the art After all some experts says that Miyamoto Musashi is stronger than the athletes of the modern day Wich is fitting for the Pokemon that represents the King piece Pawniard is amazing on Little Cup too and I like how he looks cool and cute at the same time
Pawniard's prevalence in Gen 8 LC makes Abra forced to run a Physical Fighting move out of its 20 Base Atk, since Abra can't learn Focus Blast of all things.
Kingambit is probably one of my favorite new pokemon in Gen 9. Amazing design, great moveset, and singlehandedly reminds Tera lovers everytime they face it hoe bs the mechanics is
Kingambit is likely to have a very, very strong competitive career down the road from how Kingambit has been so far at the time of this video. With a second look on Kingambit with the appropriate title “How GREAT was Kingambit?” Plus with the pawniard line now being a three stage evolution Pokémon goes perfectly with the axew line, as both Pokémon have a long history of natural rivalry with one another.
@@BigBossMan538it's good enough to keep up in a playthrough but uhh it's currently PU, at least it's apparently good there so like that's something but I'm not very knowledgeable in how PU is so like
The Bisharp line is certainly most impressive with how Pawniard, Bisharp and Kingambit have a superb career in the competitive scene, even with the 4x weakness to fighting types, they still manage to remain a top tier threat in competitive Pokémon.
I think the most absurd thing about gambit, is that it's usage stats have 99.98% usage for sucker punch, 99.96% for swords dance, and 91% kowtow, with the remaining move being 66% iron head then 27% low kick. while being the #1 mon in the tier, it completely abandons diversity and runs an identical set nearly every time and its just so unreasonably effective that it doesn't matter. almost like its broken or something
It's so wild that a single evolutionary line can have top tier representation in the lowest tiers and the highest tiers at the same time (Ubers excluded)
Reminder that Game Freak themselves caught on to how much Kingambit abuses Terastallization, that in the Indigo Disk's League Club Room fights, they changed up Geeta's team so that she now not only leads with Glimmora, but finishes with Tera Flying Kingambit.
kingambit and gholdengo will probably go down in history as the most iconic duo when it comes to dominating a meta where the only things that kept them in check were familiarity
I always loved Pawniard and its evolutions since generation 5. I still remember finding one for the first time, catching it and being amazed by how cool it was and its typing, ability and attacks. Instant bros
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I think Showdown should reveal Tera types in Team Preview, but not ban Terastallization outright. VGC does it with their Open Team Sheets. Banning Dynamax in Gen 8 made sense - it gave Pokemon access to the broken Max moves and doubled their HP for three turns. Tera adds so much more strategic depth to Pokemon, even with the mind games. But revealing Tera in Team Preview would make dealing with Kingambit much easier without ruining - if you know what your opponent's team CAN Tera into, you can make an educated guess on who will get Tera'd and when, then plan accordingly. But it's still no guarantee...after all, your opponent is human and can do unexpected things, and then there's RNG. They could also ban Supreme Overlord. It's not like Kingambit needs that Ability to be good, and banning Kingambit outright seems like it would open the door for even more unfair Pokemon to run rampant - Pokemon that the kowtowing steel ninja keeps in check. It would be sort of like banning Landorus-T in 5-8, or worse, Snorlax in Gen 2. Now if you want a Pokemon that needs banning, it's Gholdengo.
Gambit and Dengo have been in OU for a while now. I think both of them glue the OU Tier together and are fine additions That said Gholdengo has a lot of counter play. Being slow and having 4 of the most common weaknesses in addition to being check by one of the best Pokémon in the tier Gambit ensures it’s not broken Banning Dengo also isn’t gunna make Corviknight top tier for its defog niche
To this day, the gen 6 Knock Off buff has gotta be one of my least favorite buffs. While I do sorta appreciate it for giving several dark types more reliable physical STAB, but at the same time, it also misses that utility the original move had There was strategy to use this 20 BP move to give you an advantage later on (like removing opposing leftovers in permanent sand), but now its just "I just did a gazillion damage, oh and now your item is gone" If youre gonna make a move this strong, the very least you could do is also nerf the PP too.
Kingambit is my absolute favourite shiny, he gave me reason to play violet for shiny hunting I also really like the idea of doing baby Pokémon who got new final stage evolutions, such as Teddyursa and Ursaluna or Mankey and Annihilape
Love this video! Kingambit is one of my favorite vgc mons and first shiny in gen 9! The ban suspect for singles OU makes me wonder if OTS would alleviate some issues with tera being overbearing. Knowing tera types at team preview could be so much more balanced imo
Surprised pawniards other niches weren’t really discussed, it being a legit pu Pokémon with an nu niche in gen 6, having a pu niche in gen 7, and I believe being viable in pu and maybe nu pre dlc for gen 8
Pawniard/Bisharp are my favorite Pokémon, not to mention they have the cleanest shinies getting that royal blue. Honestly I don't like Kingambit, but it's nice to have an eviolite for my Bisharp in Scarlet/Violet. it's defense is crazy now, I like to run Fairy Tera on it, set up with a swords dance and smack people with sucker punch/iron head, and if a fighting type comes in to fight him, I tera-blast them with fairy. It's honestly just so fun to play with.
The OU community doesn’t believe Kingambit is broken at least a super large majority. After a year being in OU I do believe the player base has adapted to the presense of Kingambit Archaludon ? Yeah I never though it be broken - it’s very strong ONLY in rain but electro shot boosting ur special attack + an ability that boosts ur defense after getting hit does sound annoying to play around
Archaludon did a little too much damage for how tanky it was and how easy rain was to setup(and ground types really dont want to be hit with a rain boosted liquidate from skewda), and gambit needed 5 allies dead to be able to reverse sweep, and it being checked by most of the mons in OU as well

But this is Pawniard & Kingambit :/
Sorry disregard this I thought you said "I click" not "I will click".
you be posting this every vid... You be bot?
4:05 I swear this channel is so good with alliteration! I love it!
Gaining strength from the fallen like an shonen protag
I would like to recommend doing a video on Meloetta in competitive pokemon.
I think it'll be an interesting one.
Oh cool, this little steel type is based on chess pieces!
O-Oh.. it evolves at level 52...
WTF IS A LEADER'S CREST
Ahhh, truly a gen 5 evolution level moment
@@joeyyoung5173 speak for yourself, level 64 hydreigon makes me want to rip my fingers one by one
Kingambit:"It's Tera Time!" *uses his Teratrix to switch his type*
Where's Secret Of The Teratrix, Game Freak??
I like the part when gambit uses SD and says: "It's gambin time"
It's so wild to that they had to remove knock off from the entire line and Kingambit is still THAT good- the timeline where they didn't makes me shudder..
Kingambit was indeed banned from NDOU
@@cynthiacrescent Didn't consider how it gets Knock Off back in Nat Dex! What a guy..
@@heliumpai7627If it did kept Knock Off and Pursuit, than it will get quick banned right away.
As a former LC player back in gen 8 it was kinda nostalgic watching those synergies once again, Pawniard is my fav Pokémon because of competitive play so I really enjoyed this video, thanks FSG
Can’t wait to see how good Kingambit will be once the Ubers become legal. I’d say the sun summoners of Ubers could give it trouble as well as Zacian and Zamazenta, but it does seem like a good counter to Solgaleo, Lunala, and the Calerex riders.
kingambit can't do much in ubers
@@fraud523I was referring to once the Uber legendaries become legal in VGC.
Kingambit is probably the reason why Pawniard doesnt get Knock Off anymore
Definitely why Kingambit is banned on National Dex OU
(Unlike SV Kingambit, he keeps Knock Off and Pursuit)
Gambit would be quickbanned from SV OU if it got knock off and pursuit
No way in hell it’s staying in SV OU with those moves
I love how Pawniard was basically a less edgy Bisharp that terrorizes toddlers
Scizor was my favorite ever since gen3. Kingambit haf to come in and take his place!
Fun fact: I used a kingambit to completely wall a tera poison espeon raid.
If Gen 5 Gets a Remake…they would have to be crazy to NOT make Kingambit Grimsley’s Ace in the Main or Post Game
10:46 Kingambit is amazing! One odd reference it has is to Miyamoto Musashi one of the most legendary swordman in Japan
As when Kingambit is standing
(The animation that goes off whenever he gets out of his PokeBall and stands on his legs)
he has the exact same pose as Miyamoto Musashi has on his most famous painting
Apparently that goofy pose is one of the best guard poses ever developed... But has yet to be replicated by a KING of the art
After all some experts says that Miyamoto Musashi is stronger than the athletes of the modern day
Wich is fitting for the Pokemon that represents the King piece
Pawniard is amazing on Little Cup too and I like how he looks cool and cute at the same time
I'm gonna rename my kingambit Musashi now I hope you're right
Or sun tzu
I named mine Nobunaga
Pawniard's prevalence in Gen 8 LC makes Abra forced to run a Physical Fighting move out of its 20 Base Atk, since Abra can't learn Focus Blast of all things.
Kingambit:"MY PEOPLE ARE ALL DEAD BUT SO ARE THOSE BASTARDS!"
Man, Kingambit should go down in history as another addition to the list of truly broken Pokemon.
How the heck did I miss this one? It's my favorite pokemon line.
I still can't believe they gave Bisharp of all Pokemon while Tropius has been languishing for the past 20 years and gets nothing
Give it time eventually they will add a buff to tropius. After all dudunsparce and ustagon is a thing now.
Yes, but kingambit is sick
@@sayyidagus2480is Dudunsparce remotely good or even passable?
@@BigBossMan538it's good enough to keep up in a playthrough but uhh it's currently PU, at least it's apparently good there so like that's something but I'm not very knowledgeable in how PU is so like
@@BigBossMan538 It's a somewhat decent Boomburst User though it lacks scrappy
Kingambit has such an awesome design!
The Bisharp line is certainly most impressive with how Pawniard, Bisharp and Kingambit have a superb career in the competitive scene, even with the 4x weakness to fighting types, they still manage to remain a top tier threat in competitive Pokémon.
One of the few pokemon that has every member of its line perform well competitively.
Kingambit is one of those Evos who makes it's pre Evos better just by allowing them to use Eveolite. Bulky Bisharp was ALREADY tricky, with Eveolite?
Bisharp has been my second favorite pokemon for years now, so its cool so see it so universally used after Kingambit came into play
Dang I should have set you my spread for kingambit when I won the knoxville MSs! Still nice to see gambit make its debut video!
Happy y’all showing more love to VGC props
I think the most absurd thing about gambit, is that it's usage stats have 99.98% usage for sucker punch, 99.96% for swords dance, and 91% kowtow, with the remaining move being 66% iron head then 27% low kick. while being the #1 mon in the tier, it completely abandons diversity and runs an identical set nearly every time and its just so unreasonably effective that it doesn't matter. almost like its broken or something
We need a Gengar Remake "How great was Gengar actually?" 🥵🥵
UNFORTUNETLY not that great since it lost the Ground inmunity...
@@Lissy_YT481 Gengar's video was a very short one many years ago it needs a proper remake like scizor for earlier gens
Checkmating enemy's queens is crazy
Kinggambit truly took a gambit and hoped we wouldn't notice his RIGHT hand
It's so wild that a single evolutionary line can have top tier representation in the lowest tiers and the highest tiers at the same time (Ubers excluded)
I always forget that y’all upload Sundays but it’s one of the best part of my Sundays
Poor bisharp suddenly didn’t exist for Gen 5-8 and doesn’t get covered
Reminder that Game Freak themselves caught on to how much Kingambit abuses Terastallization, that in the Indigo Disk's League Club Room fights, they changed up Geeta's team so that she now not only leads with Glimmora, but finishes with Tera Flying Kingambit.
kingambit and gholdengo will probably go down in history as the most iconic duo when it comes to dominating a meta where the only things that kept them in check were familiarity
Kingambit really wasn’t sugercoating it.
Supreme overlord
Tara dark
S.D
Sucker punch. 🤜🏿
I think both of them glue the OU Tier together and are fine additions
That said Gholdengo has a lot of counter play. Being slow and having 4 of the most common weaknesses in addition to being check by one of the best Pokémon in the tier Gambit ensures it’s not broken
Banning Dengo also isn’t gunna make Corviknight top tier for its defog niche
-You loosing another pokemon: oh no!
-But you have Kingambit ready to use in any moment: anyways
Ah the posterchild of Gen 9 OU! This will be good
THERE’S ACTUALLY NO FREAKING WAY MAN ABOUT 10H AGO I WAS THINKING “Wouldn’t it be cool if fsg made a vids about the entire bisharp line”
Bisharp has its days, but his son Pawniard has his years. what a great evolution line
Fighting a team with Kingambit is like playing Chess, which is fitting with the inspiration of Kingambit being the King piece of chess.
"Death is not the end for you my allies. I will be our final gambit."
-Kingambit, probably
Easily one of my favorite gen 9 mons. Now if we could just see him stand up
To this day, the gen 6 Knock Off buff has gotta be one of my least favorite buffs.
While I do sorta appreciate it for giving several dark types more reliable physical STAB, but at the same time, it also misses that utility the original move had
There was strategy to use this 20 BP move to give you an advantage later on (like removing opposing leftovers in permanent sand), but now its just "I just did a gazillion damage, oh and now your item is gone"
If youre gonna make a move this strong, the very least you could do is also nerf the PP too.
Agreed, it was a breath of fresh air for a bit in gen 9 before the Teal Mask dlc brought the tm for it
Kingambit is my absolute favourite shiny, he gave me reason to play violet for shiny hunting
I also really like the idea of doing baby Pokémon who got new final stage evolutions, such as Teddyursa and Ursaluna or Mankey and Annihilape
I would have loved to see bisharp in this video as well since eviolite changed his playstyle significantly
Surprised the Kingambit section wasn’t an hour long
You know you’re good when you have your own smogon tunes song
Kingambit is so good it's the best steel, dark, flying, fairy, fire, and fighting type in OU all at once, what a crazy mon.
Love this video! Kingambit is one of my favorite vgc mons and first shiny in gen 9! The ban suspect for singles OU makes me wonder if OTS would alleviate some issues with tera being overbearing. Knowing tera types at team preview could be so much more balanced imo
Kingambit- This isnt even my final form.
Kingambit stands up...
Surprised pawniards other niches weren’t really discussed, it being a legit pu Pokémon with an nu niche in gen 6, having a pu niche in gen 7, and I believe being viable in pu and maybe nu pre dlc for gen 8
Seems like that was overlooked.
Omg I can't believe y'all actually did this
Pawniard/Bisharp are my favorite Pokémon, not to mention they have the cleanest shinies getting that royal blue.
The day Kingambit gets banned from OU is the day I come back to competitive
come back by the end of the region where every Mon but gambit is banned
Great Tusk next? 👀
Pawniard looks like a Pokémon that would learn Aerial Ace.
A first stage and final evolution in a 3 stage evolution together? Neat
Kingambit and Gholdengo, the duo of being extremely overpowered in OU but never seeing a ban
The line needs to be given knockoff back, never should have been removed
The fact that Archeludon got banned, but Kingambit remains will never not be insane to me.
Smogon banning gambit checks 😂😂
The OU community doesn’t believe Kingambit is broken at least a super large majority.
After a year being in OU I do believe the player base has adapted to the presense of Kingambit
Archaludon ? Yeah I never though it be broken - it’s very strong ONLY in rain but electro shot boosting ur special attack + an ability that boosts ur defense after getting hit does sound annoying to play around
Archaludon did a little too much damage for how tanky it was and how easy rain was to setup(and ground types really dont want to be hit with a rain boosted liquidate from skewda), and gambit needed 5 allies dead to be able to reverse sweep, and it being checked by most of the mons in OU as well
