Gigalith is also pretty good in Conquest. Though it's slow and can only move 2 spaces at a time Stone Edge (which hits in a + shape in front of it) helps make up for that provided it hits.

Gigalith is a truly underrated Pokémon. Other than its speed & typing, everything else about it is very solid. Honestly, I think players underestimated it in the pre-Gen VII games.
I feel like you kinda skimmed over Gigalith’s role in Gen 8 Vgc, which makes sense bc of the pandemic there are no tourney results for it, but Gigalith would play a huge role in the early series, even overtaking Ttar as the premier Sand setter, for multiple reasons. Firstly it enabled the team comp known as SandRoom very well, being able to have both a fast sand rush mode with Excadril, one of the best dynamax mon in the early meta, and a slow Trick Room mode made you very hard to play against as you forced your opponent to make a read in team preview. Gigalith was preferred over Tyranitar in this role for multiple reasons. Firstly, having one of the lowest speed stats in the game combined with its amazing attack made it both you sand setter for your Sand Rush mode and your sweeper for your Trick Room mode. Secondly was its 130 defense stat combined with its access to Body Press, which not only allowed it to hard counter Ttar and Excadril in the mirror, but also gave it access to Max Knuckle to further increase its sweeping potential, something Ttar didnt have the room for in its sets unless it wanted to give up its Ground coverage or one of its Stabs. Lastly, even if you opted out of the SandRoom team comp, the biggest counter to Sand when they used Ttar was Trick Room, which Gigalith countered.
GIGALITH was amongst my favorite from the 5th Gen era, along side GOLURK. I even used him when I played through Sword! Such a cool design…. I can even see a Region Variant being ROCK/ELEC!
One of my favorite rock types. Gigalith, imo, is a much better version of Golem (kantonian) as it lacks the huge quadruple weaknesses of grass and water.
I think since gigalith learns a lot of charging moves like Solar Beam and Meteor Beam, it should have an Ability that let's it use charge-up and recharge moves immediately. Also give it Rock Wrecker.
I find it interesting how many pokemon who fulfill similar roles in normal in-game playthroughs end up competiting against each other when they drop to lower tiers
Gigalith was part of my best singles team on anything goes in pokemon showdown. Everyone assumed he was a stealth rock setter with little damage output, so they were real surprised when they got hit with a 600 attack choice band explosion or stone edge that could sometimes straight up kill pokemon who resisted it.
I used a mono rock team in the monotype tier back in gen 7, and between Gigalith and Tyranitar, it felt impossible to lose, even against water and ground teams. Steel teams were my one real weakness
Gigalith is one of my favorite mons design wise. While its stats are great on paper its incredibly hard to use even when it got Sand Stream. It's lack of reliable recovery, vulnerability to hazards and status, and low speed made its exploitable weaknesses even easier to chip away at. Garganacl and Coalossal are far superior rock types thanks to their unique abilities, unmatched utility, and formers access to reliable recover and immunity to status. Gigalith deserves a buff in a new regional variant with dual typing and access to recover. The fact so many defensive rock types lack reliable recovery is truly tragic.
Gigalith has always been my favorite of the super-strong super-defensive Rock types, both design-wise and stats-wise. It's also a shining example of why I think the Rock type has some of the best designed Pokemon.
I know rock isn't a great defensive typing, but it still seems crazy something with Giga's stats + sand could end up in PU. Seems like even just max hp could tank just about everything and its offense is clearly nothing to sneeze at.
Nutshell.. it stuggled to keep up while having difficulties to fit on teams due to Kantonian and Alolan Golem respectively. Defensive profile is good on paper, but easily exploited once coming on the field.. intentionally attacking to break sturdy, then firing off its main weakness, stab close combat is usually enough to take it out. The main counter, Terrakion always outsped it and then annihilated it with either stab close combat or sacred sword, depending on the playstyle and even had earthquake for coverage in case close combat was PP stalled. What held Gigalith back? It's speed and HP stats.
I only just started binging the channel but I absolutely love your presentation style for these videos! Very confident and quick, snappy and informative, and this video is no exception, great work! Do we do suggestions here? Bc Ive noticed something I would find really helpful - whenever youre talking about a pokemon that outclasses the focus of the video, like Rhyperior with Gigalith, it would be nice if you had a little stat spread for that pokemon as well somewhere to compare the two, to give more context to your explanation. But if not thats fine! Keep up the good work
Gigalith is one of my favorites. It’s a shame that he didn’t get to play in Ubers, but it’s whatever… so we did Gigalith, Electevire, Deoxys so…Seviper?
So Gigalith receiving sandstream helped the pure rock Pokémon to climb up from the lowest tier and into the upper tiers, then falling back down to PU but being a real threat in the tier. So not too bad for the generation 5 (Unova) version of the golem line from generation 1 and even sharing how they live in the shadow of Regirock and the Rhyhorn/Rhydon/Rhyperior line.
A personal take I have on Gigalith would be to make it more special oriented and based around sun instead of sandstorm, since it kind of looks like a heat rock and also has its rocks glowing bright when it stores sunlight inside of them based on lore and Pokedex entry. BST would be increased by 10 and it would become something like this: HP: 85 -> 85 ATK: 135 -> 95 (-40) DEF: 130 -> 120 (-10) SPA: 60 -> 110 (+50) SPD: 80 -> 90 (+10) SPE: 25 -> 25 BST: 515 -> 525 (+10) Gigalith already learns moves like Solar Beam, Meteor Beam and Weather Ball but it would also learn stuff like Heat Wave or even a signature rock type move that hits on the special side, hits multiple opponents, does slightly increased damage under the sun (+20% damage increase, 80 bp) and would also gain a 20% chance to burn opponents but only if sun is up, otherwise it'd just be an 80 bp rock move with spread damage and no secondary effect. As for the ability, it would gain a signature ability working similarily to Cherrim but only for itself, boosts special attack and special defense by 50% but only if sun is up.
I think the coolest thing about Gigalith is that in Black and White, you could trade a Boldore for an Emolga, and then in BW2, you could go back to that same NPC and trade an Emolga for a Gigalith, providing one of the only ways to use a fully evolved trade evolution Pokémon in a solo playthrough

I love Gigalith! is so cool!! specially it's shiny variant, those crystals are awesome
My favorite rock type?!?! In *this* kind of video?! What a day!
YESSSSS FINALLY MY SON HAS COME TO FALSE SWIPE
GIGALITH was amongst my favorite from the 5th Gen era, along side GOLURK. I even used him when I played through Sword! Such a cool design….
I can even see a Region Variant being ROCK/ELEC!
Amazing how it took just one ability to make Gigalith viable.
This reminds me of the time I had no one to trade with so I stuck with my Level 100 Boldore just spamming Rock Blast all day. Good times 😅
Or give it Head Smash
@@aldwych285 that's a recoil move
@@bluebaron6811 I was thinking I could give it either reckless or rock head as another ability
I used one in my B2 run, not the one you get for trading, i had a black copy and traded with myself
Honestly one of my favorite mons. Loved it
Already know this fsg video is gonna be incredible
Man its like a mirror to pelipper cause having a weather ability along with utility/power can make most pokemon better.
Recently started using Ass Vest Gigalith with nothing but SpDef and bulk and a little offense and Holy hell it does so well
Before sand: virgigalith
After sand: Gigachad
banded gigalith was one of my favorite mons to use in gen 8 VGC. just clicking the rock slide button in TR felt so good (i liked WP on other things)
Shout outs to 5 Guys and a Gigalith. All the OGs know what I'm talking about.
I like Gigalith. Always a good mon to get in randbats
Sand Stream is so defining on this mon that i'd honestly forgotten it didn't have that ability for the first few years.
My favorite non-bug rock type. It pains me that it never trampled OU. Maybe one day buddy, one day…
I read it firstly as "How good was Gilgamesh" so I was confised until I read rhe title again.
this is one of my favorite examples of "if your gonna have low speed have no speed"
I love geology, and have always loved shiny Steelix. I loved shiny Gigalith right away!
Gigalith was one of my favorite gen 5 Pokémon ever! Glad to see it got covered today!
time or for the gen 5 fighting duo throh and sawk
During my first play through of Sword I found a random shiny Rogenrola and the Little Rock instantly joined my team
Such an amazing design. Instant classic.
投稿ありがとうございます。次はノココッチ系統やガチグマ系統楽しみです。
Gigalith has always been my favorite of the super-strong super-defensive Rock types, both design-wise and stats-wise. It's also a shining example of why I think the Rock type has some of the best designed Pokemon.
I love Gigalith and it’s cool too see his history in competitive isn’t all doom and gloom 👌👌👌
Drop everything boys, new False Swipe video is out
I know rock isn't a great defensive typing, but it still seems crazy something with Giga's stats + sand could end up in PU.
Dragalge, magcargo, drifblim, or rotom and all of his forms! 💪💪💪
Very nice video!
Thanks for the "How Good/Bad are these Pokemon actually."
I like Gigalith! I'm glad it was better than I thought 😊
BST would be increased by 10 and it would become something like this:
HP: 85 -> 85
ATK: 135 -> 95 (-40)
DEF: 130 -> 120 (-10)
SPA: 60 -> 110 (+50)
SPD: 80 -> 90 (+10)
SPE: 25 -> 25
BST: 515 -> 525 (+10)
Gigalith already learns moves like Solar Beam, Meteor Beam and Weather Ball but it would also learn stuff like Heat Wave or even a signature rock type move that hits on the special side, hits multiple opponents, does slightly increased damage under the sun (+20% damage increase, 80 bp) and would also gain a 20% chance to burn opponents but only if sun is up, otherwise it'd just be an 80 bp rock move with spread damage and no secondary effect.
As for the ability, it would gain a signature ability working similarily to Cherrim but only for itself, boosts special attack and special defense by 50% but only if sun is up.
