  • Famous world wide for its amazing brown trout fishing the Mataura River was one of my must-do rivers on our NZ adventure. Henry and I set out early to fish the river above Gore, the brown trout capital of the world. We have a great day on the fly and spin and will definetly be re visiting this river on our next trip over the ditch.

Great seeing you and your son sharing catch and release fishing. As he gets older perhaps he could use a landing net rather than drag the fish up on the bank. When they flop around in the dirt and rocks they lose the coating that protects them against infections. They will swim away strong but could get sick and die later. Good luck to both of you.

Hey mate… we’ll have to catch up for a fish one time. Long time since we seen each other (your cousin Rob - Leone’s son). I’m in Canberra now… I’m out fishing the alpine rivers most weekends…

Hey Rob, that’s awesome mate, good to hear your into your fishing. Not surprising though, it runs in the blood. Definitely will have to catch up on the water somewhere. 🎣
