Nice spot, with the side-creek entering in just above where you are fishing. That bad boy was just lying up against that far wall sampling the buffet as it washed by. Great video.

Beautiful fish, beautiful place. I hiked 5 km into some private water on the North Island and was skunked - nice place though. Then I fished the Manawatu in Palmerston North 10 minutes walking from my brother's house and scored multiple rainbows in the 14"-18" range. Of course they probably latched onto the flies to get out of the gunk. You can never tell.

Teorror87 Hey, I could catch 12 inch trout all day and be happy. I actually prefer the slightly smaller guys (14-16 inch). I think it's cause, normally, I run into more of them in one hole than the big guys. and I do love the hunt for the lunkers, but those smaller fish are what usually makes my day fishing worth it.

Hey mate. Yes in deep water like we were fishing I put a clip on indicator at the end of my fly line on the loop. Then we run a tapered leader down to 6 pounds Fluro of about 10 feet all up. I can fish without an indicator and yes sometimes it is worth doing but I do love watching that indicator get yanked under and sideways. Thanks for the comment.

Ummm... I understand your point but there's some fish that fight a lot harder.

Wow what a great pool. Nice to get good hits after a hike-in that far. I've done the same , having to portage a canoe while buddy hauls the rest of the gear to get at mean chunky specks, bows and reds here in Ontario and Quebec.
