this video was so helpful to get started, thanks.... just installed replacement back-up cam yesterday, here are some additional things I noticed/some more tips: make sure you have the right tip to unscrew the bracket ("T20 Torx", or I just went through my box of various sized/shaped bits and found one that fit). the space between the screw and the metal panel is *tiny* so it really helps to have a 90 degree allen wrench/torx tool, but I didn't have one so I managed used my extra-small screwdriver with interchangeable tips; it worked but it was tough and I scratched up my hand in the process. the actual removal and replacement of the camera is the easiest part, and the cords remove and reattach just by pulling off/pushing on, no pinching or release required, which is super helpful in that tiny space. taking the plastic panel covering off was a bit nerve racking... I tried to be careful and pull gently but in the end I had to just rip it off in certain places, but nothing broke. one plastic retainer/fastener clip got stuck in the metal panel but I easily pulled it out and put it back in the plastic panel. putting the plastic panel covering back on took two of us to line it up and then we basically just lightly punched it all over to get the clips to click back in to place. My local shop didn't want to do this "repair" and the two dealerships I called charged $180 just to diagnose, and then estimated it would be $500-$1,000 to fix/replace the camera. I bought a replacement for $49.99 plus tax on Amazon www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09R3JQPJK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. So far it's working perfectly (fingers crossed). Try it yourself, YOU CAN DO IT!
Did it keep the backup lines? Right after I drove my 2015 MKX off the lot I went to back into a parking space at a gas station and had the dreaded upside down camera, I bought a new one on eBay for 45$ and it works great however when trying to program it with forscan it doesn’t work, so I don’t have any of the lines for assistance. I know it’s a small thing but I’d like to have all of the features.

may want to try unplugging the negative on the battery for a few minutes first. if that doesn't work try unplugging the camera itself and plugging it back in. Unplugging the camera and plugging back in worked for me. Simple fix and no parts. Thanks for the video
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that a couple times without any luck and also tried changing settings in the dash also with no luck. Thanks though, might work for someone else.
@@gradyshippsr.3196 Same question for a 2012 MKX, cameras were options at that time so mine doesn't have one and wondering if the radio/ control panel screen would be compatible. Might have to pry everything open to see if the wiring is there in the back, otherwise it does have the opening for the placement by the rear emblem.
Weird, I have a 2011 MKX and the videos for it and the Ford Edge were totally different. Decided to take a look at this video and that's how my camera is mounted! maybe they made a mid-year upgrade to the 2011?
@@rtautosport4175 I finally got it snapped on it just took a lot of force lol I was afraid of breaking it. It’s all fixed now and working great. Thanks so much for this video made it super easy

2013 MKX came with a back up camera. Yours should have one.
