    My favorite criticism of the Jeanne sections was something along the lines of "Jeanne is the Vegeta of Bayonetta". Why would Jeanne be sneaking through a military facility instead of just smashing her way to the goal? They should have had Jeanne as another playable character for combat missions, and had Luka, the investigative journalist and normal human dude, do the stealth action!

    All these universes and not a single lumen sage one that kinda bummed me out. I loved the weapons/demons but I felt there were less minion encounters compared to the previous titles.
    Overall, I did have fun but it did feel like it was missing that oomph from 2 or 1.

    IMO they key difference between Viola and Nero, and why the passing of the torch works for Nero but not Viola, is because DMC lets Nero be cool and he was given two games to flesh out his character. Bayonetta has only given Viola one game (and a very small portion of it at that) and always undermines anything cool she tries to do with dumb slapstick.

    This is one of the most in-depth detailed honest reviews of this game covering all little aspects - challenges, mini games etc. and condensed at the same time. Instead of praising the game like the majority did. I expected almost a masterpiece judging from other glaring reviews and was kinda disappointed as a result. This review nails it!

    The relationship between the two characters felt like it came out of nowhere for me and it only made things more confusing when it was confirmed.

    • @tubguinace
      @tubguinace ปีที่แล้ว +32

      Funnily enough that's the one thing I didn't have a problem with, Luka and Bayonetta have always had a flirty back and fourth, they were clearly set up to be together from the very first game.
      The problem is the way they reveal who their kid is and how out of nowhere they pass the torch. And it's weird because the kid isn't theirs technically, it's another universe's version of their kid. The passing of the torch did not feel earned at all.

    • @DrVonBoogie
      @DrVonBoogie ปีที่แล้ว +17

      !!SPOILER!!
      @@tubguinace see that's the thing, at least to me, their chemistry felt about as strong as her's and Rodan. It felt more like her character is just flirty as opposed to "this is a set up for their relationship".
      You can even unlock Rodan as a weapon his moveset makes it seems like they have more of a reason to be together than the other guy. Bayonetta and Jean is an even stronger argument.
      I think the major thing I didn't like about the pairing and how it felt forced also relates to why I felt like their multiverse was a letdown was how they presented Viola. Instead of treating her like she was just the daughter of Luka and Bayonetta from another reality they made it seem like she was the daughter of our Bayonetta and Likes which was confusing and kind of dropped the ball. If they did that they could have made a stronger case for Luka and Bayonetta while potentially setting up their relationship for a future game.

    • @tubguinace
      @tubguinace ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@ataridc I think that's absolute nonsense, people used to criticize Bayonetta as a character designed to satisfy the male gaze.

    • @tubguinace
      @tubguinace ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@DrVonBoogie I agree with everything except I do feel Bayo and Luka were being set up from the first game, Luka always had a special interest in Bayonetta, she was as flirty with him as with anyone else but there was definitely chemistry between them.
      By comparison, Rodin never showed any interest in Bayonetta in that particular way, he's just doing his job around her really. None of the flirting is ever reciprocated to her by Rodin.
      But yeah, our Bayo and Luka treating Viola as their own was very very weird.

    Bayonetta 3 was my most anticipated game since it was announced. The constant wait and leading up to the release. Then I got the game finally and while I enjoyed the combat, the story wasn’t explained properly especially with the ending and the different universes. Things felt convoluted, the Jeanne should have been used in normal combat instead of those side missions. Viola didn’t deserve the ending she got quite yet it’s too soon for her.

    • @VaeVictus17
      @VaeVictus17 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well no it's not, not if you use multiverse theory. And convoluted? It was actually quite a healthy story progression that explained a multiverse assimilation was occurring and Bayonetta was the key to stopping it.

    I’m curious if I’m the only other one bothered by this: did anyone else find the enemy designs abysmal and incredibly generic? The first 2 games had some phenomenal enemy designs and this one either had weird blue transformer/bug monsters or the same blue power ranger putty patrol knock offs. That was another detractor to my enjoyment of the game.

    • @BeatGoat
      @BeatGoat ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The person who did the majority of Bayo 1 & 2's enemy designs doesn't work for Platinum anymore, and it shows. I thought Bayo 3 had a few great enemies, but the rest are really generic and non-descript, like overly detailed blobs where you don't even know what to focus on.

  • @tubguinace
    @tubguinace ปีที่แล้ว +69

    One of the most disappointing aspects of this game for me was the enemy designs, the Homunculi are so darn boring, the Angel and Demon designs for the first two games were so creative by comparison, the only design element I find interesting about the Homunculi are the way they spawn, sort of by being made of many human bodies that were gellified.
    It was one of my favorite aspects of this series so seeing how bland the enemies are in this game was a bummer, and you fight mostly Homunculi the whole game, with angels and demons almost exclusively showing up in some challenge sections. I got hyped in the desert level when demons showed up for a bit, thinking we would start seeing them regularly in the mix of enemies from then on, but no, it was just that small section.
    Just, everything about the Homunculi and Singularity is so boring and uninspired to me.

    • @alejandrorodriguezdiaz3493
      @alejandrorodriguezdiaz3493 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      True. And even more than the homunculi, the problem with this game is the totally forgettable antagonic character. SPOILERS!!
      If Bayo ends up dying, let it not be because of some random madman one day decided he wanted to be the king of the multiverse, sheesh. Other than him, his homunculi and the lackluster passing of the mantle (wich didn't bother me a lot, if I'm being honest), the rest of the game seems incredible for me. I had a blast with it to the very end

      While I think some of the mechanics surrounding the homunculi were interesting, outside of a few, like the two-headed dragon, the monkey swinging over the lava, and the jellyfish, I liked them more through their gimmicks than their designs. The dragon heads that hide in the sand and jump up were fun to fight, climbing on the heads of one of them as the spider demon was neat, though something that was done better with Iustitia’s tentacled heads in Bayonetta 1. I don’t necessarily think Platinum lost their passion either, I thought the new Bayonetta origins game looked like they really want to show a new wholesome story for Cereza as a little girl. Astral Chain was a phenomenal action game in between Bayonetta 2 and 3 with very unique mechanics that felt simultaneously natural and easy to learn, but took skill to master. Much of their creature designs for that game felt unique, but still Platinum-like and they were built around the various chained legion controls. It’s just that Bayo 3’s homunculi designs don’t feel very Bayonetta-like and they don’t feel like much of a threat. Angels in Bayonetta 1 didn’t feel like threats to Bayonetta herself either, but they weren’t made to be because the story was just Bayonetta hunting angels that got in her way. Their threat came from their scale. I really liked some of the multiverse concepts and multiple Bayonettas, but I hope Platinum handles the homunculi better for Bayo 4.

    Just the enemies alone leave alot to be desired. If 2 had any noticeable tells in its enemy animations, 3 lacks almost any whatsoever. You will hear the sound of an attack JUST as it's hitting you lmao no light signal, no wind up, no NOTHING xD

      I think it's funny when people say it's rushed when the game was being made for almost 8 years. I think the problem wasn't the rush, it was the fact that the original producer of the first 2 games left for another company and countless other people who worked on the first 2 games weren't working on the third game. It's a shame that the game turned out this way but it's not rushed, it's just not good.

    Viola, unfortunately, is a character the company wants you to love but you want them to go away. Not just because she’s not the lead(s) you’re used to, but because she feels forced and the company is making you love them to a failing result. Case in point: Dante from dMc, or in real life John Cena or Roman Reigns from WWE (which my opinion on both wrestlers has changed). I probably will never play a Bayonetta game. This one, while “flashy” in its own way, feels… contrived and trying too hard to appease multiple genre fan bases. Currently watching Jazzyguns play through this, and her commentary and gratuitous swear count has made it interesting.
    I applaud you for your honesty and your great review. Unlike this game, this wasn’t forced nor did you beat around the bush. Straightforward and to the point. You are amazing and awesome. Keep up the great work.

    I'm a huge Bayonetta fan. I didn't have an issue with the story. I view Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry storylines the same way. As they're very Japanese anime in style and storytelling and completely different from the western Hollywood style narratives you find in games like, The Last Of Us, Tomb Raider, God Of War, etc.
    I've seen plenty of over the top anime, that have similar distinct styles and stories. What I do find kind of strange, is that Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 had the same criticism about their stories when they originally released, as far as people, saying the story didn't make any sense or they were bad. Now the feedback have shifted to the storylines being good. I find all of them entertaining and never looked at Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta or Devil May Cry and even No More Heroes storylines as some deep narrative experiences. But more like an entertaining anime.
    I will say this, and this is my personal opinion. I found Bayonetta 3 story more entertaining than Devil May Cry V story. Something about DMCV story seemed a bit boring to me. But the gameplay in Bayonetta 3 is phenomenal and that's what's most important.

      A lot of people don't like Viola. Don't want to see her carry the Bayonetta legacy. I agree with them. But at the same time, the whole story and ending being bad is hyperbole. It's no where near as worse as people are trying to make it and even more so, doesn't make the game bad as a whole. Those are strange statements. A game's gameplay, controls, play mechanics, fun factor, etc., determines how well a game is, not its story. Especially considering there are plenty games without a story or a minimum plot. I remember feeling the same way about Viola, as I felt about Nero in DMC4. I still feel that way. I don't like Nero. Even more so in DMCV, and hate the way he plays. But I love Dante. But I won't write the whole game off because of it. When it's still a great game. Everyone is entitled to their opinion though.

      So fun fact, I just skimmed both of my Bayo 1 and 2 reviews, to see what I said about the story out of curiosity, and while I didn't give much detail I found Bayo 1's stone kinda confusing unless you really did some digging so similar to this one. But twos story I was here for because of how it wrapped up 1's story in a certain regard. So I admit it's totally possible I'm now fondly remembering them because Bayo 3's story felt so... messy.
      Nola// I really didn't care for Viola. It's true. But I do think how we got to the ending is more trash than the ending itself. I could believe X and X got together easy if they either A. Kept that energy throughout all the Bayo games. Or B. Fleshed out their relationship more. Because it felt so. left. field. It didn't feel earned or rewarding just...okay. Also I agree that this game isn't bad as a whole, I but I do believe it's the worst Bayonetta.

      @@PelvicGaming You have great content and I wasn't directing my comment to you, just speaking in general. As someone who's a diehard fan of these games, I've always known the stories to be serviceable and entertaining more than anything.
      They're very anime. Whether it's Ninja Gaiden, DMC, Bayonetta, No More Heroes, Astral Chain, Metal Gear Rising, etc. They're all over the top and have a distinct type of story telling. These games are not known for deep narrative story telling. Bayonetta story have always been like that. Bayonetta 3 actually has more story telling than the previous Bayonetta games, as it has more dialogue and cutscenes. But that doesn't make it better though. At the end of the day, it's all subjective. But Bayonetta, DMC, and other character action games never had this deep in depth style of stories.
      I do agree the whole Bayonetta and Luka romance seemed out of place and rushed all of a sudden. But it makes more sense than this delusional Jeanne romance, I been seeing people complain about. As Bayonetta has flirted with Luka and there has been some very seductive teasing scenes with those two in the previous games. Not once in the previous games, did they even hint at Bayonetta and Jeanne in some form of romance. More like childhood friends sisterly love.

      I don't care too much for Viola either. I think she's ok and I like her more than Nero. But not a fan of her character design. I don't think Bayonetta 3 is the worst Bayonetta. As they all have their strengths and weaknesses from each other. Now I do think that Bayonetta 1 and 2 are more polished than Bayonetta 3. A lot of that has to do with the developers making and designing the game too ambitious for the Switch's hardware and its noticeable. I kind of wish Nintendo would have waited and released it on the Switch's successor. Bayonetta 2 is my favorite of the trilogy. But Bayonetta 1 and 3 have better combat( they require the most skill). Bayonetta 1 have the best difficulty. As Bayo 2&3 are too easy. Their hard mode, is basically Bayo 1 normal mode. Bayonetta 3 have the best combat design. Bayonetta 2 have the best pacing, cleanest visuals, best bosses (although Bayo 1 have the best final boss), best music, and overall better package. Even though it has the shortest length in the trilogy. Best thing about the Bayonetta series is all 3 games are high quality and critically acclaimed. Can't say the same for other games in the same genre.

      @@ataridc Well, first of all, I did not play this game. I played the first two, but I have a wife and kids now, so I don't think it's responsible to buy a lot of games. I wish I still could, but a dad in their mid 40s needs to act like one.
      Second, I know Pelvic didn't enjoy getting through this game. She received it as a gift, so she was obligated to play it. Also, she doesn't like to back down from anything she commits to, and that's admirable.
      Third, TH-cam can be a lonely place. Sometimes you can put a video out you worked really hard on, and it gets completely ignored. Overall, TH-cam viewership is down. Between TikTok and Twitch stealing their audience and their own draconian censorship, videos that would have gotten thousands of views are now getting hundreds. It can get depressing. I just want to help keep Pelvic motivated, since I know games are a passion of hers, and being able to make some money playing them is a huge help.
      And finally, and I mean this as politely as possible, you need to watch your mouth, punk. I didn't come in, make a snide comment to you, and upvote my own comment. I keep my insecurities and negativity to myself. I have a lifetime of military and law enforcement experience behind me and could probably pull out your front teeth one by one. You shoot your mouth off in the day and age where people can find out where you live and they're increasingly mentally unstable? Not a good plan. Mike Tyson once said that people are getting entirely too comfortable running their mouth online and not getting hit back. Keep up the stupid comments and it will happen to you. Believe me on that.

    Bayo 3 is sloppily produced, which is weird considering how Bayo 2 was made for a technically comparable system and still blows many current games out of the water with its visuals and polish. Hell, it even looks and performs and performs better on the same system Bayo 3 was designed for
    3 feels like it doesn't know what to do, and thats unfortunate, because the base combat is stellar and there are story beats here that can work, but it almost feels disinterested in developoning either of those things. Its tried to do way too many things when it feels like production clearly couldn't handle it

    100% agree with all of this. I'm even in the minority of people more critical of Platinum now after this (tho really Babylon's Fall was clearly a sign to be sure).

Now it's just like Harry Potter to me, something i'm not gonna be as happy to share about now.
    But still I think Platinum was in the wrong cuz They lied 1st about the reasons for voice change. Hellena didn't have to lie at all, and alot more people would be on her side who happen to share her politics (which I don't), but it still doesn't change that Platinum ALSO Lied.

  • @advmx3
    @advmx3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The worst part of this game, is how they made the ending. They tried to pull everything they could to make us happy and it just made us angrier.
    They have added a LOT of fan-service, from Madama Butterfly doing the Kame-Hame-HA, to both Bayo 1 and 2 appearing, to a Poledance Sequence with 4 more battles during credits that no one wanted to do at that point because this trope only works if the gamne ends on a happy AND campy note, to a Dance sequence just like the first game. Hell they even added a full dance-credits sequence that tried to pay hommage to Bayo 1 and 2! And all of it felt wrong.
    It's not that bad endings is bad, or that it shouldn`t be sad. But there's a reason why Bayo 1 and 2 works so well with this type of ending sequences but 3 just flops. If the third game presented the story way better instead of throwing rushed sequences, without characters interactions at all and only fight scenes, and tried to make me BELIEVE in what was happened, if they had RESPECTED their own characters instead of destroying their personallities, it MAY have worked better IF they had removed the battle-poledance sequence and dance-sequence at the end. Again, the game cannot end SAD and Happy at the same time, and the fact that they had a super cheerful dancing sequence at the end just makes me feel like the ENDING itself was NOT meant to be sad. It's like they had lots of conflicting IDEAS and Wanted to add them to the game either way.
    In the end, they disrespected every single characters AND you as a gamer, Kamiya essentially said we should suck it up because he's like Big brain and we can't understand how much of a masterpiece his shitty story is in this game, they've burned years of legacy of strong, sexy woman who can own their own sexiness and every single enemy on their feet.
    People say this new Bayo doesn't feel sexy because of the voice change, but that's not the issue here. The voice is good, sometimes I even forget it's not the same voice actress, the problem is every single thing with Bayonetta. They made sure to make her super different, the taunts are childish (she even puts her finger below her eye and pull it out while sticking her tongue out to the enemies to taunt them), every single hit with Colour my world is way more Childish or Girly than before if you want, every single time she does something doesn`t feel like she`s using her sexyness to battle the enemies, instead it feels like every time she does, it`s kind out of character for her in this game.
    Best combat in all three games? Yes. But for every single new things they fixed, they made sure to add a new annoying thing.
    Make Viola playable, but only make her playable THREE times.
    Make Viola have the same enemies as Bayonetta to fight, but forget to ballance them for Viola's style.
    Make the challenges easier to understand with an option to restart it if you do something wrong, but make sure to add challenges that are absurdly stupid and to make the worst challenge for Viola Ever (Parry in high level enemies for Witch Time, PERFECT PARRY to kill them) as a VERSE 1 in a chapter.
    Kill characters in the most stupid way possible. Forget to delliver crucial information either on Books, character notes or cutscenes at all.
    This game became a fucking theory fest for youtubers, it's insane. I thought the theories would end with this game, because it's one thing to theorize about what the new game will be, now we're on Theorizing what the story means.
    Anyway, it's a mess. That's why when Bayo 3 won best fighting game I didn`t feel it was worth it. Yes it does deserve the title, but the entire thing is just meh. It got to a point that if they make a version of the game WITHOUT cutscenes, I beleive people would just enjoy it more XD.
    In the end to me and to a LOT of people, with the exception of the die-hard fans that WILL pay 60Bucks for a game that is 1/5 the size of Bayonetta 3 and clearly has way less playable time than any other game in the same segment, this game was a punch in the gut. It was just hard to play through the final chapters, it was a mess, and I`m still trying to find ONE person who played through the ending with a Smile on theri faces.
    I`VE SEEN A DRAG QUEEN, being annoyed at the eneding to the point she watched the credits and avoided doing anything else in the last 4 verses AT ALL, because she was angry. A DRAG QUEEN. Those guys are LOUD. Kamiya even made Drag Queens angry, and quiet. That's a new level of bulshit xD

      What is that about the 1/5 Bayo3's playtime? Is it about Cereza and the Lost Demon? We have only seen one trailer and know nothing about the scale.
      Also you complain about the lack of cutscenes, then say the game would be better with just fighting. What?
      The game also quite obviously shows that this is a different Bayo.
      And I don't know what the Drag Queen part is supposed to proof. Games won't appeal to everyone, that's not new.

    has almost no connection to the original;
    The homuncolus in comparision to the angels are literally less violent to kill them, with no blood and all less gore. Wich is one of the thing that I’m so sad for this game.. ah and BAYO have less hot scene…like 3 times in all the game; it seemed that it does not seem like her..

    the bayoxluka thing didn't need extra chapters, they just had to commit to it from the beginning, like *this Cereza is with Luka and that's it* , heck if they knew they would do an "origin" story, they could use that for the explanation after, if anything.
    instead they decided to go for a *last-minute hookup* , the worst and laziest way to canonize a ship, and people got rightfully angry.
    I don't even like the ship, yet felt bad for the ones that do, literally getting crumbs like that. Can you imagine a Cereza acting like Morticia Adams with Luka? that be hilarious, in a game full of dumb references, they decide to cheap out instead.
    Edit: oh and of course, they had to have the "spiderverse" cameo at the end, where we see Cereza 1 and 2 as different persons, yet didn't commit to anything else.

      That is *another* option, true. But if this is an "different" Bayonetta from a different multiverse I think it needed more chapters. Bayo 1 kinda nudged for LucxBayo, Bayo 2 leaned toward BayoxJeanne so I could see it going either way but assuming this Bayo is 'Cereza' I'd need more chapters. But yes it felt like a last minute hook up I agree.

    I feel like the story was the best explained in this game then the last. Yes things were weird and some of the things felt under cooked.
    I do also gotta say being upset for the graphics while it was to strong for a switch isn't really a Bayonetta Crit it's more of a switch critique. It being to strong for the switch does imply it was supposed to have better graphic's for other consoles.

    Either way, I didn't play this one, something since this got a proper gameplay reveal has looked off to me, and the more I saw of the full game, the more convinced I got I just wouldn't enjoy this one all that much.
    I'm kind of impressed how for a series whose story I have no interest on, they somehow get worse and worse with each entry despite being easier to follow compared to 1? But I think I'm good if this is the end of Bayonetta, I don't think I can be excited for anymore entries after how this turned out.

    • @nunchuk28
      @nunchuk28 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yes? I've played the previous Bayonettas to know what I liked and didn't about them, this one in particular seems to crank down on having more minigames that drag on with the generally less memorable setpieces of 2.
      I felt the game looked lackluster since it had a proper trailer last year, and nothing shown since has changed my mind. As someone who doesn't live out of making reviews, it's the games job to sell me on it, not mine to buy it to see if maybe I'm pleasantly surprised (which personally has rarely happened so I find that mentality pretty worthless), time and money are limited after all.
      The way the game ends gives a pretty good hint at how a potential Bayonetta 4 could follow, that alongside the general design of 3, Platinums shaky track record as of recent and that we'll still likely see their ambitions for a game clash with Nintendo's mentality on hardware, and I just don't see much they could do that'd honestly catch my attention.

  • @TuxedAaron
    @TuxedAaron ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well, personally, as a Bayonetta fan who wants the same things you do, I would say your review is pretty accurate. Speaking for myself, I have to say that there was a nagging sense of familiarity here, in that I felt the same way playing this game that I did playing the "Burial At Sea" DLC of Bioshock Infinite. I mean, the gameplay is an absolute blast and I had a lot of fun when I was immersed in that (I would daresay that I enjoyed the exploration and side missions more than you did). But it's all in the service of not much, when you consider the fact that the game's story just turns out to be a complete dumpster fire.
    Yes, I think everyone who's played the game at this point can pretty much agree, Bayonetta 3's story is, bar none, THE WORST story in the entire series. I mean seriously, it's not even a debate. As I see it, there are two main reasons for that. And one of those reasons...unfortunately...IS Viola.
    Now, to be fair, Viola isn't carrying ALL (or even MOST) of the story's bad baggage, but she IS saddled with a sizeable chunk of it, all the same. And I say it's unfortunate because right from the get-go, it was obvious what they wanted her to be. Quite simply, the whole point of Viola was for her to be a playable analogue for LUKA...someone to be in that "bumbling sidekick" role, for whom every situation she finds herself in turns into a complete cluster-fuck...but in Viola's case, someone who can actually HANDLE themselves in a fight (sort of). And taking her character strictly on THOSE terms, it's easy to appreciate what they were going for and you can see the germ of a good idea here, peeking through the cracks.
    The only problem is, it's the exact same reason why every story point that revolves around her just DOESN'T WORK. I won't spoil anything for anyone who hasn't played the game yet and is still curious to check it out, but Viola's presence is basically the whole reason why Platinum had to shoehorn Luka into a C-plot midway through the story, because I guess too many wheels were turning before one of the Devs thought to mention, "Well okay, but if we're going to make this NEW girl the exposition dump/comic relief...how are we gonna write in LUKA now? Because that was HIS job for the first two games". So they had to slap together something for HIM to do, and obviously, it was an idea that they never fully cracked and clearly just gave up on toward the end. So that whole thing doesn't play. It's also the reason why the overall ending doesn't work (again, no spoilers), because again, the whole point was to make Viola the bumbling sidekick and she never grows out of that. So even if you accept what Platinum was going for with the ending (and seriously, who DOES?) why would anyone buy into this as even a PLAUSIBLE conclusion, let alone a satisfying one?
    All annoying grievances to be sure. But those all pale in comparison to the one element that TRULY breaks the game's story...and that's basically the entire Multiverse, itself. In your review, you lamented it as a missed opportunity to push boundaries on a grande scale, but I saw it as something even lower than that. Because the whole function of the Multiverse in this application is simply to be used as a whitewash for Platinum to try and cover up every lazy-ass writing decision that could possibly be crammed into one game.
    All the elements of the plot that make absolutely NO sense? "MULTIVERSE!"
    All the parts of the story that they don't even bother to explain? "MULTIVERSE!"
    Which isn't to say that they don't explain ANYTHING. They just don't bother to explain it IN-GAME, which ties into your (accurate) criticism of how the game does more telling than showing. At least in Bayo 1 and 2, you at least got to hear what the bad guys wanted ("Hi, this is who I am and this is why I done what I did"). In this game, you actually have to read the Character Bios in the menu to find out that Singularity was an accidentally-created Artificial Human (basically an AI) who wants to erase all chaotic elements from existence, because his whole goal is to make the universe mathematically perfect (which isn't a spoiler for me to mention, because like this review says, the game never even brings it up). You even have to read the Character Bios to find out just what the hell is going on with Luka (even though it's not MUCH of an explanation, because like I said, it was an idea they never fully cracked). But yeah, apparently, none of this was even worth going to the effort of explaining in the actual game, proper. They just give you a bunch of text as an info dump.
    Like I said...LAZY. Hell, there are even subtle hints that the game's final scene might not actually be the characters we've been playing as all game, but possibly versions from another alternate universe that Singularity hadn't even attacked yet. So Platinum may not be all that committed to the ending they've crafted here. And that's another issue with the whole "Multiverse" angle. Because Platinum can just lean on the word "MULTIVERSE!" as a crutch to basically retcon anything they want at this point, nothing that happens in the game actually MATTERS. So what kind of a future can the franchise have, going forward?
    At least, that's just MY thinking on it.

    • @TuxedAaron
      @TuxedAaron ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marcel-pb2ul Well, ignoring the fact that I'm not entirely sure what point you're trying to make (hopefully, you'll elaborate if you reply), I would point out that, sure, it's easy to say that NOW, after Platinum has retconned everything. Although actually, if you go back over Bayo 1, the intro actually tracks with what happened in the main game.
      Basically, there are two interpretations for why Balder brought Cereza from the past to interact with herself as Bayonetta in the present, and at the time the game was released, neither of them having ANYTHING to do with a Multiverse outcome. The first interpretation was because the Eyes of the World can peer into time, so that's what Balder saw happen and he understood that interaction between past and present was essential for Bayonetta to remember what truly happened that night. And because she encountered her future self, it gave her the confidence to move forward and fight on after her mother was killed. So essentially, it was a predestination paradox. As such, the initial flashback of Jeanne sealing her away that night was just a distorted memory and the final flashback with her and Jeanne standing together to fight off the Lumen/Paradiso invasion was her TRUE memory coming to the surface at last. The other interpretation is that Jeanne truly DID seal Cereza that night and Balder had her younger self interact with Bayonetta in order to give her the confidence boost that allowed her change her own history.
      Personally, my heart wants to believe that the former is the true interpretation, but my head keeps telling me that it's most likely the latter. Either way, both roads ended up arriving at the same destination, which is that Cereza wasn't sealed that night, she and Jeanne escaped and she was sealed away at a later time. Hence, the intro we saw in Bayo 1.
