  • Fishing at Malibu pier for halibut: We decided to go to a pier so we could target some halibut and was thinking about going to places such as Marina del ray, Santa Monica pier, Oceanside pier, piers in San Diego, but we decided to go to Malibu. We started off fishing a dropshot with the swimming mullet. I have tried this rig multiple times for halibut and it catches them. Shout out for Rodney Marquez for showing me this rig. I ended up catching one decent sized halibut in the first 15 minutes. We then started using a sabiki to catch some anchovies to use as live bait. We caught species such as the salema and multiple smelt. We also caught another halibut at the end with live bait on the Carolina rig. We ended the day with 2 halibut and it was a pretty productive day of fishing and hope to come out here again. Hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.

What size test line did you use in the beginning to catch the halibuts? I’ve been going but unfortunately been skunking it 😢

I wouldnt eat anything caught off Surfrider beach. Ive gotten ill just surfing there. It always gets an F rating for polluted ocean.

@@fishingwithyoshi Just seems like a strange coincidence. It is always better actually witnessing the catches.

@@hectorcamacho5565 I agree but making fishing videos is not that easy

@@fishingwithyoshi I know first hand how difficult it is. I make videos of myself fishing but not for youtube, for myself. I am just telling you that with ALL the channels on fishing, you should make sure you get the shot of actually catching the fish to be taken more seriously. Maybe have a second stationary camera to catch everything. Just advice man, you don't have to take it or get defensive. Good luck.
