Ive been a huge fan of Cristin Milioti for a hot minute. Shes fantastic and Im glad shes got this high profile role (Sofia) and her talents are reaching a wider audience
The Casting Director needs an Emmy for this show!! Seriously, who looks at Colin Farrell and sees the The Penguin?! Who looks at Cristin Milioti and sees a serial killer/mob boss?! Only someone with astonishing imagination and foresight. CD’s are so under appreciated and yet their decisions make or break whole productions. They should have their own Oscar category!
I personally would've casted an actual fat ugly looking actor but props to the casting for seeing what Colin Farrell is made of. And props to the Makeup artists. This is the power of practical effects.

The people around him knows that he is a two timing a**hole, but he has that natural charisma and charm that gathers people around him
Notice Luca mentions Sofia going to Italy as well, I think the cousin was set up to bring up a “girls trip” to her in attempt to calm her down. She just didn’t expect her kid to come up and that’s when her real feelings were revealed
The 2 leads of this series should absolutely make the rounds on the awards circuit because like the characters they play, they are killing it. 🐧's the 💩
We have to see Bella Ramsey as Ellie will likely be spectacular. Supporting will be between kaitlin denvers as Abbie and cristiana as Sophia most likely

They blew millions on the acolyte that had no journey no story just one big mess and I we say we don't like it we're racist and bigot I don't care who plays who I just want to enjoy what i paid for these subscriptions are not cheap so yes we have a right to give out when it's garbage
They did Andor, proving that it is possible to make a great Star Wars show with a serious tone, but for some reason they've chosen to go in a completely different direction with the rest of their shows. If you wanna put on the tinfoil hat one could say it's almost like they do it on purpose just to keep their fans fighting. I mean, millions of fans discussing Star Wars all over the place gives them free marketing on every social media platform there is.
Andor? Its literally the exact same as this, a companion piece to rogue one but without the same restraints so much darker. And HBO level, it was nominated for a reason

This penguin rhythm continues to flow very well and with Cristin's Sofía, who is very charismatic, who is manipulative, who is with farrel... it's scary. AND SERIOUSLY THAT PERFECTLY INCLUDES WHAT IT MEANS TO EVENTUALLY KNOW MORE ABOUT BOTH.👍👍👍
My favorite show so far, just awesome. And what I appreciate is they don't let you forget The Penguin is a bad guy. We can sympathize on some things, his mother, the reason he has a limp ,how ppl see him etc. But he doesn't want sympathy or ask for it. He's a villain, period. And what drove it home for me is Oz snapping on Vic. I understand his reason, he warned Vic before, No F Ups. Yeah they have cool moments but Oz is on a mission, & if Vic wants to be down, AND LIVE, he HAS to be clutch. But Ozwald REALLY doesn't need Vic, he's just giving him the chance he begged for to prove himself. And THAT makes me fear for Vic even more. He may like Victor & all, Oz is charming etc. BUT if Vic can't produce, AND FREEZE up, Oz WILL cancel him. He HAD to remind him of that.
I like the fact penguin is making a lot of moves in Gotham, but he’s not doing something big enough where it attracts the Batman. So it’s in Batman’s universe but we don’t expect to see him.
The penguin is not a show that i ever thought id want and love. Penguin was always a fun batman villian but i dont think he was anyone's favorite but now dc has made him a top tier villian with this show

I was so excited when I saw Theo Rossi as the therapist he was soo good and sons and he’s really great in Luke cage if you have t seen that yet I highly recommend it
On your note about Penguin having a story for every situation: that story about his mom ended with “she passed away,” which wasn’t true. In that case, it was probably because he wants to protect her/ not bring up her dementia, but it calls into question how much of his other stories are fudging the truth.
Plot twist, the daughter is actually Sophia Falcone’s daughter but due to whatever happened that landed Sophia in Arkham, and most likely while the little girl was still a baby. But that’s just a theory. A TV show theory.
The Carla-Sofia-Gia scene is fascinating. Pretty sure Carla was sent to talk to Sofia about organising a 'girl's trip' to Lake Como (Luca brings it up again when they are speaking alone) - hence the slightly manic 'hey girl, you look great, how you been?' kind of energy. It does seem to be working though - Sofia is a little overwhelmed, but for a moment I think she believes Carla really is happy to see her. And then the child appears on the scene - and Carla instinctively pulls Gia to her and away from Sofia, who _definitely_ noticed. That's when she goes psycho cold again. I really don't think she'd do anything to a kid, but the fact that people think she would cuts her deep...
Colin Farrel sat in a chair for 6 hours the first time and then they got it down to 3 hours for the make up each morning. When he was on Kelly Clarkson's talk show, she didn't realize that he was Colin during the clip she saw. So shocked she stood up and screamed "That is you?!?!?!"
I'm wondering if there's going to be a reveal that Penguin understands the language the Maronis are speaking to each other (Persian?), because I don't think we ever see his facial reactions when they're talking to one another.
I think the QR code is an explanation for where Batman is and might also be a teaser for the Batman sequel. He is still focused on cleaning up the remaining of Riddler's men. I also think this is something fans have always wondered about in the comics, what else is happening in Gotham while Batman is pursuing another villain?
But that's the thing: Oz doesn't have a plan. Like he says at the end, you gotta think on your feet: he's smart as a whip - everytime he's improvising. There's a kind of plan - as we see with the photos of Vitti - but it is a long game; the real salt in this omelet is the quick thinking, the never missed opportunity.
Colin Farrell is so good. Let’s be honest - British/Irish actors are pound for pound the best in the world. They’re so raw it must be a culture thing. How can such a relatively small island churn out so many great actors and musicians so consistently? Respect.

You know what I’m starting to love? Sofia’s tic of stuffing her face when she eats. Most of the time she’s so composed and thoughtful in the way she speaks and acts, but there’s always that quality of unhinged predatory viciousness lurking below the surface. The rare times you get to see how much of predator she is is when she devours any food brought in front of her like a lion ripping through the flesh of its victim.
I love how the characters are written, especially Sophia, she's an absolute mystery, you wanna know more about her but at the same time you're afraid of that knowledge which is fantastic writing that we missed for years now , compare that to any Disney slop where the characters are mysterious to us as a blocked toilet to a plumber, wish we get more of this not just in DC but in general.
Oz just needed a friend he could talk to and he found Vic, because you can't be friends with your henchmen because they'll turn on you for any amount of money. Vic never mentioned that he wanted money or anything. Vic is the only person Oz can trust.

I did not expect this second episode to be as good as the first episode. Can’t wait to watch the rest of this series!

My favourite broad genre of tv will always be smart characters out-maneuvering other very smart characters. And this show does that brilliantly.

Really liking this show. There's been a few decent to not so decent shows as of late and it's really refreshing to see a show this well made
