The problem with trying to make Star Wars "different" is that it is pretty clear cut on what "The Force" is...there is the light and dark sides of the force that one is attracted to depending on their emotional state. If one gives in to negative emotions, they go to the "Dark Side" but if one stays on the right path and doesn't give in to their negative emotions, they tend towards the "Light Side". There is story potential there like the concept of "Gray Jedi" or those Jedi who use the Dark Side but still ally with the light. Luke's Jedi Order had Jedi that used both Light and Dark side powers in tandem for example but still taught to use them in a limited fashion so as to stay balanced and in control. There was story potential here with the witch coven but they botched it by just repeating what has come before (ie create someone from the Force) just with a different name. If they told us this took place in a different universe than George Lucas' established universe, there were different rules and the writing was really solid then I think people would be more open to this. But no, this is just a sloppy mess of a show and writing.
You're right on the money. There is honestly loads of cool potential for unique and challenging stories with the general premise The Acolyte has. Unfortunately for LucasFilm, they botched it sooooo many ways! The concept of the Gray Jedi could be explored. Or try fleshing out the witches coven, or go write an original story! But alas, we're left with this... I'm thinking of doing an overview video at the end of the series that will dive in what they did wrong and try to highlight for writers exactly what not to do!
This reminds me of a video that takls about the bluey miniosde being hypocritical all because it involves muffin doing an unboxing video. Even though it was mainly satire. It's really interesting once you think about it.
There's nothing wrong with a show getting a little meta or flirting with a concept that seems inappropriate. Gravity Falls did that all the time! The execution is where things can go wrong. And for The Acolyte, they really misstepped here.

I'm not gay but i find Qimir way more attractive than Ben Solo.😊
As much as I love Adam Driver, I must concur. Qimir is more attractive.
@@camillesharem i don't like Adam Driver at all, except for his Kylo Ren Undercover Boss.😁
Also, i hated Reylo. 😜
@@Mark_o_Helm Reylo is an abomination born from the warped mind of Rian Johnson so he had something to giggle about.
@@camillesharemOnly one man could ever turn me gay and that is Dracul Mehawk from One Piece that man was a beast.
10:51 Just typical fan service😂
Yeah, very poor fan service.
