    I admire your work ethic. You put out content consistently and for that I for one can acknowledge credit where credit is due. I am one of those people that has been watching your videos for years and really do wish you would develop further as a mechanic. It’s your channel and your opinion is the only one that matters I get it but people who are mechanics would have a higher opinion of you if some of the sound advice offered to you from your audience was something you could value and appreciate. Most of us long time viewers really are rooting for you and offer advice to help you and are not motivated by trying to be overly critical and just dumping on you. And once again I for one value and appreciate your work ethic.

    Joe, the chain sprocket looks severely worn very pointy at tips. It looks like the owner tried kick starting it while gears were bound up! It’s the only way that carnage could happen. A chain jump wouldn’t cause transmission gear damage. Lack of oil or bad bearings causing gear teeth misalignment.
    Also tell owner to use non-ethanol gas!

    • @baybuoy3843
      @baybuoy3843 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The gear failure probably caused the chain failure ... not the chain failure causing the gear failure .

      On this one, I think when the chain broke, it got caught in the drive sprocket causing an immediate harsh stop snapping teeth and then more teeth were probably broken after trying to ride it .
      I'm a mechanic also and that would be my guess on this one.

    That warrior I'm doing for a guy, it's nuts. Couldn't get flywheel off with puller, got to looking at it, it's tack welded to crank. Was rebuilt 2 years ago and started clattering badly. Severe hack job. I knew it was gonna be bad from get go. No grease anywhere, swing arm locked up, etc. Doubt internaly is very well either, had less than 1/4 of a quarter of oil in it. Rod bearings seem ok, but the crank is toast. Bunch of 8 and 10mm headed bolts have been cross thread and used sae bolts 1/4 20s mostly. Yeah 7/16 headed bolts. No gaskets on it, all silicone. Horrible mess. Pulled oil filter housing, it was filled with debris. Wish us luck on this pig, you keep rolling bud, great vids, hope you don't get one like this, wa ts whole bike gone through front to back and motor fixed up, wants it all for under 3k. Got 4 hours already in it. Hardly made a dent. Keep up great vids Joe!! Could use you on this P.O.S. make great vid series for sure.. will let you know how it goes... still gonna get our morning Joe vids before we start wrenching.

    The air filter on the quad is pretty nasty. I keep seeing that and wondering if you're going to change that out. Interesting problem on the TTR. Maybe the transmission just got jarred enough when the bike dumped over that something bound up for a moment. Very strange, but this is one of those cases of "while you're in there..." Good video, sir. Look forward to seeing the bike go back together. Your channel sure is growing! Your garage inventory is as well! You need to sell off some of those bikes! Take care!

  • @jakeslouw3416

    The chain came off under load and then probably jammed up between the counter-shaft sprocket and the engine case or between the sprocket and swing-arm: the torque was then applied straight through the gears.

    If when that chain came off it jammed on the case or rear sprcket, even for a brief second it would lock the trans and the crankshafts rotational momentum would shear gear teeth off very quickly. 😕

    Inertia is my uneducated guess. Engines spinning high, throws the chain and chain fetches hard. All the force from revving 6-7k to an immediate stop cracked the hardened gears.

    It was probably in gear when you started it those stripped gears making the noise and causing it to stall.Did you pull in the clutch when it was running to see if the noise stops.

    These are strong bikes I had a 2001 ttr 125 no eletric start no big wheel my friend also had a 2003 ttr 125l so it was the big wheel no eletric start tho but we would have fun on those once my freind was trying to do a buronout on his and he let go of front break went flying like 10 feet in the air and the back fender had a crack on it it was funny. We loved those bikes they are so strong and very cheap

    Literally own the same one, just an LE model with the 16 rear and electric start. 150cc big bore.

    Why do I have a feeling the owner is the type of guy that runs the oil out of a motor and then blames the engine for failing

    Watching you trying to start this bike, knowing it's damaged, makes me shudder.

    Hey, did you take the head and cylinder.off before the engine because its easier so you dont have to hold the engine in a vise or something?
