I dont see the "base female" option when selecting Target UV Map.. im transfering from G9F to G8F. my only options are Base Multi, Genital map bake, and Base single.. and i dont have any of those uv map choices on my G8F.. is this not possible yet ? :|
Is it possible to transfer textures from one UV set to another if the objects are different? For example, I would like to transfer a face skin that is specific to one object and apply it to another head that has similar topology but is not the same object. I make 3d game assets and it would be amazing if I could replicate my skins across different faces (no pun intended).
Sadly no, the object needs to be the same for Map Transfer to work. It simply bakes the textures from one UV Set to another on the same object, it cannot convert textures between objects. R3DS Wrap can do this though. Jay did a Daz+ stream about converting textures from G8 to G9 recently, those are two different objects with different UV sets. There's a link on the stream archive post in the Daz+ forum if you're interested.
The map transfer utility doesn't seem to work well with transparent pngs. I'm trying to transfer a makeup mask from G8F to G8M and the output image is incredibly distorted (bake quality is 10, bleed and hardware values are the same as the video)
We don't, all Genesis characters since Genesis 8 have had the same UVs, so you can easily put a skin make for Victoria 8 onto another character of the same Genesis 8 generation. Genesis 8.1 is backwards compatible with Genesis 8, so 8 skins will work on 8.1 characters too. All Genesis 9 figures also share the same UVs. What Jay mentions here is for the Genesis 2 generations, which was released over 10 years ago.
@@toapyandfriends Just load up a Genesis 8 Character then look up another one and go to the skin textures select surfaces on Genesis 8 that you have got loaded up then apply textures as long as both are Genesis 8 Characters it will work this will also work with Genesis 3 Characters.

I use Unwrap 3d all the time. You need it to setup once, safe your empty projects. After that you can convert skins on the fly

You can't transfer maps from one figure to another. Map Transfer bakes one UV set onto another inside the same figure.

why is Daz keep releasing character that has slighty different UV than the base figure?

This looks very time-consuming I just use another texture from one Genesis 8 Character to another Genesis 8.
Can you do a quick step-by-step run down on exactly what you're meaning so I can compare the 2 methods and maybe save some button clicks for the 🌎
