    My favourite part was “driving” onto the flat bed. Now that is a rare sight for a subaru 😂

    Breaks my heart, I know the feeling. I have a 99 Impreza RS and did a swap. I bought a wrecked 2003 Impreza wrx and swapped everything over. I had iWire do the wire harness merge as well. It’s a labor of love, don’t give up! The car will be insane when it’s done and dialed in.

    Ive seen an issue like being a stuck open injector. Took a lot of digging to find that issue.
    Another instance we found alternator voltage regulator was causing all sorts of crazy running issues.
    Unless it went back to normal with the previous tune?

    • @RoadPatina
      @RoadPatina  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it went back to normal when switched to the previous tune. Now, I am unsure if it’s the car or the tune?!

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RoadPatina ive seen some whack tunes, if it went back to normal after removing. Then id say best bet is another tuner who is familiar with subaru and if using it, speed density or hybrid.
      Hoping for a good outcome brother 🙌

    • @RoadPatina

      I hear it too and it has always sounded like this. Its more of a piston slap sound than anything. I think when the forged pistons went in, the tolerances were loose!

  • @MultiAlex1530
    @MultiAlex1530 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's running down a cylinder did they check plugs and coils. Unplug one injectors at a time and see if it runs worse

    • @MultiAlex1530
      @MultiAlex1530 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nevermind I just seen that you have piston slap probably a built motor and also goes to normal when switching back to the old tune im betting its the tune

  • @rsg_cars
    @rsg_cars 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey man, i know the feeling its such a bummer.
    I have a very similar car myself, JDM GC8, and a few videos on it. I have an apexi pfc ecu but after working out the costs for me it just wasnt worth a tune right now, so im back on a stock ecu. Shitty part is now i break up above 6.25k rpms cant get to redline, and have replaced every part from spark, to fuel, to air that could cause it. Being that its winter where i am and getting cold as f, and i have to work on the street im gonna have to put the problem on hold, likely till next year :/. So what im saying is theyre a total bitch and we have solidarity in that brother. I hope it works out for you.

    • @rsg_cars
      @rsg_cars 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also if you ever need someone to bounce ideas off of i got alot of experience with the jdm engines, and misfires hesitation etc. WHat engine do you have and what ecu? might be able to help you out.

    Hey man listen i have an Gc8 wrx sti 1999 and before 3 yars i was have to change the MAF sensor exactly after couple of days playing and drive and tuned and driving and bla bla bla and finaly i f***kt up my car by my self because durring tune and changing car's parameters durring driving like crazy specialy after 4000 rpm only god know what info the sensor read, and what info the sensor tell's on ECU on subaru usualy that hapend by using different voltage signals witch you can read with osciluscop... But there is easy way..
    Im almost shore you run ej20 or ej25 engine and if run with stock OEM MAF sensor even if u do engine swap if the MAF is stock you can disconect the MAF wire from MAF and if u reconise the cars engine stars run smootly but with check engine Light ON i hope is connected after the cluster dashboard swap... So if yo disconect one vacuum hose durring engine run at idle and car stops smell and hesitate jerk

    My thought is try unplugging the MAF to see if changes.

    • @RoadPatina
      @RoadPatina  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Cobb ap3. MAF was maxed out mid 3000rpms. My guess is the hybrid maf/speed density was not cutting it.

    If you disconect one small vacuum hose when run at idle and the engine stop smell and jerk yaaa you runn very rich and after that plug back the hose and disconect the MAF plug wire if engine starts run little more smoothly but with check engine Light on change the MAF sensor not shore on 100% but May be... if yo run on stock MAF for your engine ofcourse if no somthing in the AIR FUEL is messed up.. I say this because durring tune and change parameters on ECU and drive change- drive-change thats same wath the dyno guys do the MAF start to send bug signals to ecu until one moments the ecu stops read the MAF like his own there is nothing like error clean battery disconect bla bla NO... no on the MAF not works.. change it im 75% shore is the MAF

    Take it to a tuner that actually builds engines. That knows the in and out of ej. If it ran better before there tune it’s there fault.
