Haha it’s true! I’ve ridden with experts and they put me to shame. Sure, there are some things I can do that you coukd consider expert level. Obviously the wheelies, I don’t struggle to admit that 🤣. But overall, I have lots of work to do before Id generally classify myself as “expert”. And that’s okay!

@@BeRAD Isn't that the truth? 2 riders can both be boogiein' through the trees and look like they're hauling the mail, but the pro is doing it 3% smoother, on the gas 2% sooner and braking 4% later and he just walks away from the other guy like he forgot to turn the gas on! And the pro does it at every corner, over every bump, very consistently. Few if any mistakes. At the upper levels there are such subtle and minute differences that make the 'pros' and champions stand above the rest. And that is why they are so remarkable. Thank you for your content! Well done!

The linear nature of the engine takes care of the weight of the bike. It's not intimidating, but its fun. It's a fun bike, not a race bike, not a boring trail bike. Its so well engineered and can take you anywhere in the country which dirt or street bikes can't. It's Batman's weekend ride.

If I didn't know how good the Tenere actually is, I'd think that Yamaha paid a bunch of people to make advertising of this bike on YT. I haven't heard a single bad criticism about it anywhere.

@@caracaes There are plenty of bad things about it, like being top heavy, the idiotic exhaust hanger design, and the not so great suspension on the base model, but despite that this is the only bike that fills a hole in a market therefore if you want something like this, this is your only choice. The KTM 890 and 790 are not really competitors to this due to price and performance differences, the only bike you could argue that currently rivals this is the Touareg 660 from Aprilia using a very similar engine and geometry.

I’ve been able to keep up with some AA riders in the woods for shorter 10 minute loops. But I’m dead afterwards. I’m sure it all boils down to me never training like that. Obstacles, and climbs, I’ve sure got lots of work to do to keep up with those top guys in hard enduro! Next level those guys are.

Really nicely done video! I think Yamaha nailed it with this bike. It’s a master of nothing but capable in many ways. It’s priced as such where u can throw money at an upgraded suspension and not feel too bad about it. Yamaha realizes 98% of people aren’t/ can’t ride like u. Glad to see a manufacturer buck the trend of an adventure bike needing to be 20k. I personally hate all the electronics and the added costs…. It’s mostly fluff in my opinion. That engine though is amazing, very linear power yet “zippy” for street riding. That and the general ergonomics u can’t change too easily.

On a more serious note, I'd love him to compare it to the KT-squvarna 701/690 Enduro, same power 50kg less and overall closer to a dirtbike.
From what I have heard, the rear gas tank sort of kills it.

Great Review and a great rider.
I still dont hear enough about the crossplane power to traction stability(linear) The engine is practically a 1400 Harley with the double footprint of a 700 Dirtbike. Great respect to Yamaha. All the best thanks.

Learning to ride my guzzi off-road has been a learning curve. Momentum and balance are key. You really can’t “manhandle” it. 👍

I'm a newbie. Starting out on a TW200. Having fun. I really appreciate your Tenere 700 vid. Dang you way underestimate your skill level. Hoping someday to move up to a Tenere. What can I say. I'm jealous man! Great vid. Appreciate the time you gave to make it. The bike doesn't sound at all like I expected it to from a Yamaha. Sounds amazingly bad a**! Too cool! Excuse me as I wipe the drool from my chin. Out....

Wow, I haven't watched you actively since a few years, it's really cool to see how you transitioned from being a street rider pulling 12 o clock supermoto wheelies to becoming such a good offroad rider 5:30 careful tho, cos the exhaust hanger is WELDED to the subframe and impacts on the exhaust can twist your subframe

It reminds me of the bike version of like a (old, not new) bronco or blazer. It will rock the trails, but you can also drive it to and from the trails and not be uncomfortable. To be honest, if I were looking for a bike, this is something I would consider.

I just finally got to throw a leg over one yesterday, i was stunned how small and light it is compares to things like the Honda and other "adventure" bikes. Im definitely sold and will likely pick one up soon if I can find a good deal!
