Haha pretty much. He waited for us a couple times, he’s quite patient. But yeah basically he was doing laps around me. 😂. I got stuck after I launched the bike up that rock face and he stopped to pull me out of a hole mid lap. Incredible how much he can flow up that stuff!

It's quite refreshing to finally have someone reviewing and promoting the hard enduro capabilities of Yamahas. While the 450 isn't an ideal example, your YZ125X and 250X reviews convinced me to give a 125X a try. Couldn't be happier! It does 80% of what I loved about my aged KTM 200s that finally bit the dust. If all goes according to plan I'll be adding a 250X to the fleet tomorrow morning! If so, I'll definitely be buying some more parts from you!

Great video, thanks! I'm so happy the clerk told me not to get the 450 when I was about to buy my enduro mc. I wanted the KTM excf 500, or the 450, but they said that if I was going into the forest with the bike I absolutely should not use the 450 or 500, but rather the 250 or 350. So I bought the 350 excf.. though I never even tried a 450.

I also have the IMS tank on there and you can feel the weight difference when you load and unload the bike haha I rode the 250FX and it was really light and had just enough power. You have to be in great shape to muscle the 450FX around for 1.5-3 hours in a race for sure. Great review man. 😎🤙

I have a 450. Rode it for three years in the Northeast. I then decided to get an Electric Motion Escape in March 2023. I can't believe how I suffered on the 450 compared to this thing in the tight, wet, slippery, muddy, rocky tree laden northeast. I have a few TH-cam vids up on the type of terrain I ride. The Electric Motion is perfect for the eastern nastiness. Took my 450 out once just to run it for about 15 minutes and haven't touched it since.

I’ve had four WR 450’s in the last seven years. Still have one…to go along with my NEW 2023 Beta 300RR! The WR is great for more open track. The Beta for tight single track. The WR is a beast to pull out of the muck. I’m glad to say I have the best of both worlds. Agree with your observations 100%. No fan on my 2010 WR and never needed. Still has a backup kickstarter. A Rekluse on both bikes makes them way easier in hard enduro situations.

Man, i just cant make my decision over a 450 or a 250 2t. 20 years of ktm and mostly 300’s my current 2023 300xc with its random bog put me in the hospital. I am going blue. I have a track with more like supercross jumps(70’ biggest) and trails. Nothing like you ride in this vid. I’m may harescramble but will defiantly keep expanding my track that I normally ride most days. The 450 from what I’ve read is the best on a track but I’ve not been on a 4t since my 2006 crf 450. Pretty sure the yz250 would be best but dang I got spoiled with efi and e-start…need to pull the trigger on something soon cause I’m almost healed up. Good videos dude.

The 450. The 125 just doesn’t have enough guts at elevation above like 8000ft. And even then, it’s a bitch to keep the motor spinning. I always had overheating issues in techy terrain above 6-8k feet on the 125. It was fun, but required so much revs and clutch that it couldn’t handle the heat.

That would be an easy catchy answer but I do not think Evans would exist if that happened to engines using it. 2. 4T engines as long as they have their lub oil intact they almost never fail because engine alloys melt at a really higher temps than coolants boils. 3. I have been using Evans in a '07 400EXC for the past 10 years in real extreme enduro conditions without a cooling fan and a 1.4 radiator cap, never boiled and never had an engine issue. The only time that even Evans boiled (and that would be at around 190 deg C - 375 F) was when I had a pump impeller failure and the coolant was not circulating. Still nothing happened because engine alloys melt at ~650 C - 1200 F. 4. Try it and thank me later. 😉

Bro, i love your work and your channel and i am subbed for years
but please, never have the words "Hard Enduro" and a 450 4T in the same title.
Yes, it can do "Hard" but not "Enduro" or Enduro but not Hard and that's how people get confused that it can do both.
It can't do the two combined as easy to the rider as a 2T can!
I owned 2x450s (7 years of riding) before i realized the truth the hard way (Romaniacs 2012) and switched to a 2T for all the blessing!

    • @BeRAD
      @BeRAD  ปีที่แล้ว +2

It literally can though….that was the point of the video! It’s a more effort but it’s every bit as capable. My big mistake here was just not having the right tire setup. It would never be my first choice but it can absolutely do hard enduro. I believe Billy bolt has even stated that he’d rather ride a 4T if it weren’t for the overheating in (some) situations. I’m not sure what 450 specifically you were riding but unsure know that the 450’s especially from the euro manufacturers around 2012 were and are absolutely miserable to ride slow. This fx is great in slow. Sooooo I don’t know why you’re upset about putting 450 and hard enduro in the title lmao. Comes off as pretty whiny haha. But anyway, thanks for the input and for watching all these years! Give a newer 4T a try and see what you think! They’ve come a long way!

@@BeRAD Lovely response from a brother in arms (dirty arms) and your view is highly respected from me, but as we agree to disagree allow me to elaborate:
The problem with these bikes is only visible when it is too late.
My experience was with two Euro 450s dedicated on enduro, not cross overs, (Husabergs 2004 and 2010 (upside down engine)) and for our discussion i will deduct the overheating problem of all 450s AND how that affects the pump in the EFI newer ones, forcing you to quit a race from a dead pump as it had been overheating on you while training and i will only refer to the weight problem they have when during a race a) you are forced to pick them up way more often than you planned, stealing the endurance out of you and b ) when trying to turn or brake on downhills of gravel that include turns. Yes, lots of money are spent in trying to improve them (including riders supporting them) but when Graham signed with Husqvarna they forced him to race a 350 instead of his regular 300 and he ended up 6th which was unheard of for that man and on the next race he was back on a 300 and back on top (#1) where he remained for the rest of the whole season.
The only way to discover their true shortcomings is when it is too late (when you race them)
Comment in all love from an experienced (3x) but now retired Romaniacs silver class racer.
      ♥💪
I ain't whining, i just love protecting people from purchasing wrong tools for the job they might intent them for. They are great fun bikes for having fun and go distance, but not to race extreme on! They exhaust the racer more than the race would!

If Cody were riding this, he’d not have struggled to get through. Not all 4T’s are created equal and the fx is by far the best 4T I’ve ridden for this stuff. You can’t compare apples to oranges! As for Graham and the 350…well yeah, the 350’s are horrible for slow riding lol. Flame outs and stalls, not much bottom end grunt. Overheating….didn’t have that issue on the 450. I very explicit sly state in the video that a beginner rider should by no means get this bike for hard enduro. Not anyone really. But it can for sure DO IT if needed.

@@BeRAD Yep... can be done if needed... just like banging a chick u don't like if you are the last couple remaining on the world 😂Mankind will continue but at what cost?
As extreme is the only game i enjoy playing, i wouldn't be buying a 4T even if they were the last bikes remaining.
The FX might be better than the rest, i'll give you that! 😏

@@BeRAD And i will admit... i have lost interest in riding, especially after a forest fire burned my 2 sexy 2 strokes and all the garage around them that was able to rebuild any bike from scratch back to pristine condition and blast/ceracote/powdercoat'em.. So, i am admitting that in order to say that i only responded to the title of the video and wasn't into watching it, but i did now and the truth is that it is in line with my comment. Possible, but not ideal. If it exhausted you up to where you made it on this video, imagine another 80km of the same terrain. I love the epilogue conclusions. Top notch advice. "If you're a newcomer, stay the F away from that bike!"
Tip #1: Get a 2.0b radiator cap, it will immensely help with the boiling.
Tip #2 Drop the mousse and add a Tubliss system on the rear. It is more coherent and you can have low PSI from day 1. Good luck to your buddies in Romania! 💪💪

Mousse. Tubliss is horribly unreliable for me. I blew through inner bladders lol. Constant flats. And when running thin carcass hard enduro tires, you can’t plug them.

A great rider can ride anything over anything. The average rider needs the ‘horse for the course.’
