after burning down 3 sets of tires (12500km) and the rear brakes (at 6500km) in the last 6 months....i just can say, its the best bike i ever owned. Nice video.

Love your videos Adam. So down to earth. Been following for years mate and as a young fella (27) this is where My passion for dirtbikes began. Just real riding and real talk. 💯
I just wanted to say that I found your channel looking for off-road riding tips, and seeing you hog around the tenere in said videos has been a motivator in purchasing one. Yamaha ought pay you if they are not. Im hoping to grow into it for off-road, but its a real joy no matter what is under the tires. Favorite bike I have owned to date!
Only have about 500 miles on mine but most dirt loving it so far. Especially got my knobbies now. It is very predictable, despite the weight it surprised me shooting up a short but steep hill with a 90 degree turn at top. It flew up so quickly with stock tires that I almost dumped it at top. It's a tractor!
Got one coming. Had the 890 ADV-R, but being a KTM, it had engine problems. Too much compression damping in the fork too, even loosened up, causing pretty significant front tire deflections on sharp edges. Looking forward to the T7. Been riding since 1976, and no Japanese bike has ever let me down.
Welcome Back. 🎉👍. When you said something about a Bike, It is so clear and easy to understand that it feels like we were there actually riding the bike and getting feedbacks from the bike.
Good review. What I did to mine - bigger foot pegs, updated springs front and rear. AXP skid plate, Exhaust, crash bars. better tires. Grip heaters. Tail Tidy.
As always not just a great video about a bike. The way the video is made, the sceneries, music and narrating make it so relaxing and inspiring to watch.
Come across your channel while doing my daily ritual of searching and watching T7 videos. I was at a dealer last fall to buy an 890 Adventure R and they had a sold T7 in the showroom that stopped me in my tracks! Scrapped the 890 plan and have been waiting for a black T7 ever since. Love the KTM's but can't wait to build a sweet Tenere.
As far as I can tell T7 only has one problem, getting your hands on one! Had a deposit down in August 2021. Was talking to the dealer when the World Raid got announced a couple of weeks ago, I would still have been waiting now. Buying a WR instead had nothing to do with this. Not bagging the bike or Yamaha, just highlights how good it is by the demand globally to get one.
Glad you got the beast !! Can't wait to see the bike with all the new kit! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. (btw Tarres does come from another world !)
Mate, you are great at what you do. I know this bike sits in the same category as the 890, but can it be compared to a 690/701? I only ask because I haven't seen anyone like you give the new 690 a proper review.
I'd say not realistically. The 690 is 60kg lighter, better suspension and feels physically smaller to ride. On the slab the tenere will be much comfier, but off road there no competition really. I don't think they're a fair comparison
The 690 is a monster off-road, in a good way! It’s also quite comfortable on road. Maybe not at high speeds for long periods of time. But will handle any speed limit just fine. If you want a real adventure bike that will take you off road. The 690/701 is hard to beat. I’ve owned many and ridden lots! T7 is to be compared to other bikes in the 400 plus lb category. Great bike thoughI’m sure… just not really comparable to the 690/701.
TH-cam algorithm dropped channel me your channel just in time. I’m picking up my T-7 next week. I’m definitely looking forward to see what mods your going to do(test) in the near future. I’m leaving the sports touring and getting into the ADV world. Thanks for sharing!
Always love a t7 build series. My mt09 is great fun but i miss the adventure aspect of my ktm 690. when the t7 comes down in price i will be getting one.
love it bro cant wait to see what you do to the T7and were you take it , T7 big beast to ride but lots of fun and comport on road , i always said Yamaha nailed the 50%50 on road off road with the T7 chassis ,just a big dirt bike yep ,,exactly
You got it right Arie, nice video, i been so fortunate (Thanks to Yamaha Europe) to ride this bike alongside Frans Verhoeven on some muddy Holland dirt tracks, and on Pattaya Beach, (Thanks to Yamaha Thailand), but this bike feels so nice in the dirt, it almost felt like my '92 KTM 500 in the sand, what a great bike, looking forward to your souped up T7! Thanks.
I was like, yeah, who is this guy? I can't remember why I subscribed. So I go back through your list of videos. The earliest one marked viewed was *9 years ago!* with KTM 300 exc. Dang. I appreciate your opinions on the T7. I was 70% sure that was going to be my next bike going into this video, now it's up to 90%. Cheers!
The Tenere 700 is an big success for yamaha in europe and all over the world. This is an very good adventure bike to a small price , but you can get all what you need to have fun in the dirt and on the street too.
They're very hard to source here in the USA. I'm on several lists though. My problem though is that I'm 5'7" tall (short?) with a 30" inseam, and when I sat on one at a dealer, the balls of my feet could barely touch the ground. At first I said forget it. But now I'm thinking with the .8" lower seat, and 1.5" elevator pads in my boots, I might be able to make it work. I know that you can put longer dogbones in it to lower the bike further, but as the majority of my ADV riding is in Latin America where the speed bumps are 2 miles high, and the potholes are 2 miles deep, more than anything I need max ground clearance. Why the ADV manufacturers don't offer lower bikes with adjustable seats I'll never figure out. Make a bike with a seat adjustable between let's say between....32" and 35". We put men on the moon in 1969. Don't tell me Yamaha you can't figure this out.
I recently bought a 2004 GS12 after my neighbour decided that it was his time for a mid life crisis… not my first, after owning a GS11, 990 adv, a duke 640 and a couple of DR 350/400’s in my dual sport range of purchases. And then i got on the internet…. Well, safe to say that the GS is for sale. Ridden only 12km in my ownership and a new T7 is due for collection. A dirt bike for the road is way better than a road bike for the dirt! You only live once. Make it
I have a drz and it’s awesome. I want more power, efi, 6 gear for longer road rides. I don’t ride hard technical stuff so I think the t7 is the sweet spot. I like the Africa twin too but I wouldn’t feel comfortable off-road accept for gravel. I’ll keep the drz and get the t7 too
2:30 Mistakes were made. Anyway I love the CP2 engine but the T700 is somehow 18kg heavier than the MT-07 (both without fuel), not something I'd want to pick up on a trail. I wish they'd stick the engine in a supermoto frame. Also as you mention the sump and oil filter sit very low on the CP2 and would be very easy to crack.
I guess it's heavier for a reason, That reason being strength, after all would you load your MT-07 with 30 kg of gear and go bashing down a rough 4wd track, a light frame would crack in no time.
