Improving Social Skills is one of the keys to success as a young adult with Autism. Best selling author Tyler McNamer shares the strategies that he used to develop social skills. Non verbal until age 6, and started to speak in full sentences at 12, Tyler now speaks in front of thousands of people sharing what it's like to have autism. After publishing his groundbreaking book Population ONE: Autism, Adversity, and the Will to Succeed, he is now recognized as a thought leader in autism.
Tyler is also the founder of Autismworks. A company dedicated to transforming the label of disability into one of unique ability, by understanding and leveraging the strengths of a person with autism.
Autismworks creates tools that help people affected by autism. One of the tools that helps develop social skills is a FREE downloadable social story called "Making Eye Contact" It's an excellent tool to help a person with autism to better connect with another person. It can be downloaded using the link below:

I'm impressed with this man. He's worked so hard to get to where he is and it's such an accomplishment. My heart goes out to those who struggle in the social world. I have autistic tendencies, but don't have autism, so I can only imagine how much harder it is for people who have it worse than me.

I have autism and my social skills took a hit starting last year when I became a recluse. I’m currently working on aging them back.

Same here. I used to be much better at conversation back when I engaged with people more (even just teachers, strangers, people online, ofc a friend) but now that I'm even more of a recluse i speak like a 5 year old.

    • @AutismWorks

Well, the nice thing is that you've already proved that you can do it, now you just have to get back to where you were. Don't give up and just keep moving forward.

I'm 27 and recently found out I'm actually on the spectrum and it's been so relieving just knowing I'm not just a weird person, that there's a reason I am the way I am. I have definitely isolated myself for the past couple years and it's been real difficult trying to be functional in the smallest social ways like even just knowing how to reply when someone says something to be in passing, I'm thinking of getting a therapist
