Interesting that the mappers for the game each designed one of the trap rooms in this map, so it's kind of the developers' community map.
Hilarious how long it takes the crushers to actually kill the player. Figured they coulda have made it an instant or at least faster death.
It's actually messed up. They make you watch as the trap slowly closes in on you. And there's nothing you can do other than grovel.

@@Hayden49 yeah, they're known for throwing green fireballs. Barons are the ones that throw orange or red fireballs. Their roars are different.
One trick I use in the blue key room is too actually use the top down map. I strafe and I find it easier to stay on the platforms that way and I just hear for the audio cue of the demons being killed.
That soulsphere trick is hard to do but after attempting it enough, I finally got it. Thanks!
It is actually extremely tedious and more painstaking to do than watch but it can be done
After watching this video I tried and it worked the very first time. Re-playing the map now I can't get it to work even with +20 tries. Weird.
Hmmm, I bet the doomguy wouldn't be pushed back so much by the rocket launcher if he didn't hold it in front of his chest.
Yea rocket launchers have no recoil

You actually can grab the normal green armor. I grabbed it from the side of the spider room, and I just got close enough to grab the armor not triggering the crusher
It does unlock the Features menu but it's available ingame, not at the main menu.
One difference is that the D64EX Features menu adds wireframe, lock monsters, and wall blocking, the rest was on N64.

For some reason Auto run trick didn’t work for blue key still had to fight the demons😞
Didn't anyone notice that the spider demons in doom eternal took the model from doom 64
It's so sad I've never done this as a kid wow
The trick still works with the DOOM 64 ports released, but getting the soulorb is much more tricky, you almost need to be in it to pick it up, but lucky enough with a few attempts you can just barely reach it without getting trapped.

Does the map tricks work for the re-release on consoles? I can't seem to get the soulsphere or the armor. I'm not sure what to do.
it is trickier than before, but still possible. i managed to do it once
Obtaining the green armor from the side is def. still possible in the rereleases, I don't know about the Soulsphere though.
I managed to get myself to yellow and red key. I am just stuck on that blue one.
It works; I’ve done it myself. And yes, you permenantly I lock the features menu after beating hectic. I literally only beat it by grabbing the soulsphere and then the keys quickly.

Why is the level map transparent, while mine is on a black background? For example at 10:30
I'm guessing that you are playing the re-release that came out not too long ago. The version shown here was actually a fan-made recreation made several years ago.
The only reason I think u got that blue power up is cause u on pc and u can look up and down
You can grab the soulsphere as long as you have a jump bind. And for the green Armour you need a key binded to crouch
It's not in the normal game tho
The Green Armor can be grabbed without activating the crusher if you snag it from the east side. The Soulsphere is also acquirable without falling into the pit, but requires near-pixel perfect movements to achieve.

I'm playing this on ps4. Is hardcore mode only available on the PC version. I beat hectic and still didn't unlock it.
It's Different Because I'm Playing This on Xbox One, It's Not Like The N64 Version But Some Parts Of The Game Are. I Think it's Nightmare Mode And Not Hardcore Mode.

All right that was cool. I mean I knew about the Map "Hectic" but I never knew about all the tricks you showed here :) You are not good with finding secrets but you showed me at least 5 things about HECTIC I never would found out without you. Overall the Playthrough was preety cool. Normally on the original N64 after Map 24 you straight up go to Map 28. Normally Map 25 is Hardcore. Map 26 is CAT AND MOUSE and Map 27 is Playground. You should show those 3 levels on this series as a bonus. I would love that :)
Trying to beat this level now because I got the achievement for it lol....I'm at my wits end and these guys are fuckin trolls
When I beat the Hectic level, the game unlocked hardcore mode, and features menue, but no lost levels. GRRRRR
The lost levels are through warp selection

you missed the hidden teleporter near the blue door. that has a secret teleporter that takes ya to the start as well. it also spawns a couple of enemies and some ammo i believe
You avoided the central platform, what happens there?
I think it's instant death if you stand on it. It's been many years since I've played, but that's what I remember.

I did not. With enough momentum, you can "jump" onto elevated terrain, as long as its not too tall.
