    the best seeds i have grown were in my greenhouse " the purple prince" is so bright purple and gorgeous!! I have been growing zinnia seeds for 40 years, I harvest them each year so no need to buy seeds unless there is a new color that comes out. I always pinch the 2nd leaves and get double the blooms (I'm from the state of OK) zone 7b... I also love the bright red cactus zinnias

    I'm starting zinnias for the first time. Choosing to start everything indoors (even though I'm in zone 9a) because the outside cat thinks that freshly dug garden beds are her personal litter box. I've had better results with bigger plants going in the ground as they can survive pest pressure and our daily rains and make it to maturity. Hope my zinnias look like yours! Have a wonderful weekend Kelly! 😀 Jax., FL

    Even though zinnias can tolerate short periods of drought, Mbofung-Curtis says they'll grow best in moist soil. "Water plants about three times a week so that the soil stays moist to about 6 to 8 inches deep," she advises. For potted plants, she recommends only watering them when the soil feels dry.

    • @KellyLehman
      @KellyLehman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Amal . Wow , Saudi Arabia . You are most welcome and thank you. How is the weather in your garden this week? Your zinnia may have been exhibiting signs of phototropism . This is when a plant stretches out towards the sun . Perhaps it was planted in a bit of shade and was reaching for more sunlight? It may have also been infected with a garden bug or slight disease that caused the twisting . I would try to deadhead it right above a healthy set of leaves and see if it the new growth straightens itself out . Good luck with your lovely zinnias .

      Hi Asma , You are very welcome . Thank you for the Super zinnia flower question . Zinnias are considered annual flowers so they bloom for the season, produce seeds , but the original flower usually does not come back the next year .
      The most popular hydrangea question i get asked by gardeners every year is , " Why aren't my hydrangeas blooming ?". I made a series of hydrangea care video to help unravel the mystery . Hope you find them helpful . ⬇️

    I got some TINY zinnia seeds and I just planted them in my front garden. I’m terrified I only had 50 seeds and they were so tiny I didn’t trust planting one. I put like 2-3 seeds in 1/4 inch of like dirt/ mulch mix then I spread like 20 scoops of miracle grow soil all over the front garden.
    I’m beyond anxious if they come up or not. If I fail with my zinnias can I plant other annuals even though it’s already June? This is my second year gardening and I had a ton of success my first year and I don’t want to be overconfident :/

    • @KellyLehman
      @KellyLehman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Matthew . Loved your comment 👏👏 So here's the thing . Flowers should bring us joy and peace, don't get stressed over the idea of them not growing exactly as planned . They are part of nature and nature has its own plan . I have a feeling they will come up just as beautiful as last year . And no worries if they don't . I've had plenty os seasons where hundreds of my seeds did not make it for a variety of reasons . i just replant and move on .
      You can definetly plant in june but i would plant in a new spot in case the original seeds are just late bloomers . Enjoy the process - both your successes and failures . We usually learn more from the failures so it's all good .

    I’ve been trying to grow my Zinnias outside and so far one seed has sprouted and is doing great but all the others did nothing. I don’t know if it’s the spot they are in or it’s the dirt. I don’t know but at least I got one. This is my 4th attempt at growing them with the same results. Only 1 sprouts. Bad seeds maybe? I bought a big box of seeds in the store called “Zinnia Semi-Dwarf Pumila Mixed Colors” and the brand is American Seed.
