Jason Sawatsky agree, I would be leveraged, homeless and drafting my own divorce papers. Car hobby is the only one that has received official approval. Anything else is off the books.
Morgan King, you seem like a very genuine, down to earth guy, that is just collecting watches bc he’s interested and enjoys them, just like everyone else in this world of keeping time. Would LOVE to talk with you, especially after I up my collection a bit😂
He still looks relatively young, so not yet stuck up and showing signs of respect to elders. Plus he's asian, they're usually more polite than whites :)
gmshadowtraders , he's Asian... hence what ever age you had in mind. just add 9 years to that. I am not surprised if he's the older one at the table... 😅
Agreed, if you're only going to have a single watch it should be either a Speedmaster or a Datejust, both timeless classics that will never go out of style.
iron wolf I'm no big fan of the speedy but you're harsh for no reason, MOTM was flight approved in SPACE TRAVEL so needed acrylic glass and fuck cares about water up there, those other brands aren't really that better maybe they are fuck knows, just sayin
I agree, MOTM is not only over-hyped but just like Rolex, it is milked way beyond any feasible link to reality. I actually have the first automatic chronograph in Space the Seiko Pogue 6139-6002 which imo is the superior moon watch especially since the friggin astronaut himself chose it over the speedy and said hell with NASA lol.
Yes I want to get that Russian Sekonda Poljot Strela one day if I can. But I think Omega's best days are over, they were in the top 3 or 4 but not anymore unless you really find the few gems among their stupid line of offerings now.
Too many lines, too many needlessly over-complicated movements, mainly those. They still have some great watches like I say (Globemaster is interesting but not nearly as nice as the Constellation), Seamaster Master chrono is okayish, and second-hand maybe but you have to look overall and find which appeal to the true connessuer of timepieces. I elevate the artistic and horological above all else, that includes wasting time on the unnecessary and throwing money around left right and center. Bring it back to basics while moving ahead. This is not at all easy to do, way easier to follow the rest of the dumb crowd. I will watch as they dig deeper. Fuck them.
@Morgan King I went 4 years straight skimping and having sandwiches only for lunch just to get my favourite AP ROO Lava. Well, I was only a graduate that time. 😊
the "life is short, eat dessert first" quote and the last couple of sentences really resonated with me. Finally going to pulll the trigger on the watch ive been looking at I think, it really would make me happy:)
Collecting watches you love can certainly do that to a person! Keep collecting and help share the passion and love we all have for these little things that tell time!
i have a modest collection and i really like how he says he still wears swatches! and to wear them! i have an omega moon watch and i wear it everyday! i am a chef and it goes with me in the kitchen and on the line and it just brings me joy to wear it! i like this King guy!
You only come around one time, if you buy any watch you should wear it, even if I had a 500k watch like the Jacob and co twinn turbo, I would wear it as much as I can, maybe not in the kitchen but at home and out I would! Enjoy your watches!
I keep going back to this video every few months. Wow Morgan King is a really awesome guy. Not only is he humble but his collection is just insane. I don’t have any expensive watches yet but whenever I look down at my Seiko sea urchin it makes me happy. Goes back to his quote that the watch that is in your wrist is the best one. Although, I’m working on getting into Rolex and higher end Swiss brands. I just haven’t been able to defeat the waiting list yet. 😂 Maybe I’ll buy another Seiko for college while I’m waiting.
His personal philosophies on watches is refreshing! I love his collection and his energy. I also quite enjoy the fact that he is so ecstatic about every watch within his collection!
I find myself going back to this video from time to time. It reminds me that I’m not the only crazy average Joe who has an inexplicable love for watches. I sometimes catch myself getting a little too enthusiastic when a friend or work colleague happens to want to discuss the watch I’m wearing. But I see that same enthusiasm in Mr. King and I feel kind of validated. My collection is considerably smaller, but diverse, and I do have a Heuer 2447NST in common with this collection. I think it’s the best of the Carreras. Aside from that Big Eye Daytona, the watch that really caught my fancy is the Milgauss. That stainless lightning bolt second hand is so choice! Kudos to Mr. King for opening up his collection to the world! I’m grateful that he was so generous to sacrifice his privacy and anonymity to give fellow collectors a glimpse of some truly amazing pieces.
“The best watch is the one that’s on your wrist” reminds me of another quote... “the most important day in history is today because it’s happening right now.”. I forgot where I heard it but I like it because it reminds you that you can’t change the past but you can change your actions today.
@Morgan King Yes indeed... Still have my Swatch watch from the mid 80s... Only regret is I am not sure what I did with my very first watch purchase.. It was either a Timex or Seiko dress watch
Remarkable collection, almost unreal. The double red sea dweller and that sky blue Monaco prototype are outrageous. where do you even start looking for these?
the problem about collecting paul newmans as a new collector like me, is that so many parts may have been swapped out, the history behind each watch is much more muddy.
Those words of wisdom at the end... truly what watch collections is all about. I marvel at my $250 Wenger quartz rinda movement more than I ever will any other watch and that’s because of the journey I wen through with that watch in my wrist, the story is what attaches it’s self to the watch and it’s something only you will understand
"The best watch in the world is the one on your wirst." I couldn't agree more. What a down to earth and charming person to be around. I think that so many people are caught up in the prices of the watches and the various types of movements that watches have that they forget that watches are works of art and shouldnt be sought after as status symbols. If a $5 dollar watch makes you happy, so be it. Watches should be bought on how they make you feel and should be an extension of your character. I buy watches because of the history and my genuine interest in the brand. I currently have 3 Bulovas, 1 Seiko, a Rolex Daytona (Grandfathers), and a Brieltling which was my very first watch
@Morgan King Definitely! Very fortunately I had just purchased a 6263 Paul Newman in white dial for my 35 birthday, so you can imagine that I am crazy in love with Paul Newman Daytonas right now. And your interviews with Hodinkee and recently Horoguides are just full of fun and narrative, I watched each one of them for hundreds of times. Truly a big fan and hope to see the next interview soon👊🏻
@Morgan King Thank you very much, sir! I do wear it, I hate garage queens: ) Recently, I am in crazy in love with the smaller sized watches. Probably because I am only 5"7. I bought the 6263 and a nautilus 3800 and I do enjoy them a lot.
“You get that one that you enjoy, and you treasure it, and it’s yours. That’s what it’s all about.” Right on! My Seiko SARB035 is my one and only all-purpose watch. I love it.
You're the man, Morgan. You keep it real and share your passion. I wish I could have caught the trend like you before the boom, but I'm very happy to have the pieces that are in my collection.
Wait wait hold up. That's a Milgauss? I didn't know they looked like that before the more modern ones. Has the same styling as a BB58, looks incredible.
Yes! Reference 6541!!! It’s a slippery slope so be cautious when you’re doing research and be sure to set a 6 hour alarm otherwise it’ll be morning the next day before you know it!
@Morgan King I like the way they are going, the new autavia range are actually a lot nicer in person and very tempted to pick one up. You have to give some credit to JCB too, I have a Carrera Heuer 01 and although it's very JCB ( zenith and Hublot DNA) its, IMO, fantastic quality piece, I love it - and invokes the Carrera philosophy of innovation, especially the Heuer 02 tourbillion
Right? I completely agree! Monacos have such a rich history and look just amazing! So glad Tag Heuer is offering some modern twists with a vintage nod!
Really like this guy. He gets it. I wear my 1675 and I wear my Series 1 Tag F1 from 1986. It’s about passion, not just collecting because of what other people tell you to buy.
Morgan King I learned that the hard way a few years back when I got swept up in the Daytona craze, despite (and I know this is sacrilege to you!) not really stopping to think if I actually liked them or not. I bought a Big Red 6265, kept it for 6 months before I realized I was trying to convince myself that i really liked it and had barely worn it, and missed out on an opportunity to buy an absolutely MINT red 1680 full set in the meantime. I realized that I only bought the Daytona because it was the thing to do, and I hadn’t been thinking for myself. Happy new year, hope 2019 is a good watch collecting year for you!
"The best watch in the world is the one on your wrist". I really like how he ended it. "Get that one that you enjoy, that you treasure and that is yours".
Funny listening to him and talking about the future - the watch he described is exactly the one that Air Force Vet had on the antique road show. Whether you consider it NOS or not - it was in insanely good condition
@Morgan King Can't believe more people didn't catch that. You completely nailed it. Not sure if that watch has sold but I can see that watch being $2-$5M easy in 10 years. That is def the only one in the world in that condition. Thought you would be trying to buy it. lol.
@Morgan King the watch that started it all for me was about 10 years ago Tag Heuer Aquaracer 39mm . Will never get rid of it . I was in the middle of transitioning to a new career and completing my bachelors degree.
I repeat my question, just hoping that someone can help me: Can someone please tell me what is the model of the watch cases he uses? They look very high-quality and I can't find them anywhere on the net. Thank you in advance!
Can you make a video on article going through the pros and cons of various metals you can chose for the bracelet and casing (gold, plat, ceramic so on).
"Life is short, eat dessert first."
he was obese and diabetic from all the desserts.... he's life was extra short :(
@Morgan King PS: just joking. I mean no disrespect, I hope your father has/had a wonderful and long life.
Amen!
No, absolutely not! Dessert doesn't even deserve the second S. It's called the main course for a reason, right...
Great guy!
The best watch in the world is the one on your wrist. Wisdom right there.
Real talk "best watch in the world is the one on your wrist" doesn't matter what brand as long as you love it keep it enjoy it its yours!
MrJKL Foams ,I totally agree! $30,$300, or $30,000 if you love it...end of story.
yet... he is not even wearing a watch in this episode :D
I have said this to SO many people who have asked this question, all because of this man. Strong words, good attitude to live by.
@Morgan King You can start a museum with your Monaco collection! Wow!
Best line of the whole video. Truly a watch enthusiast! Love the video.
Great video! Such a nice collection for only 5 years....Probably divorced now.
Jason Sawatsky hahahaha he doesn't seem like he's married. Young bachelor with casual relationships.
dlhussain81 you'd think but not sure he'd have a band on. Cool guy either way.
Samson518 he's wearing one and I was figuratively speaking. Huge dollar amount on these pieces.
I was too busy looking at the monacos to notice his band 😂
Jason Sawatsky agree, I would be leveraged, homeless and drafting my own divorce papers. Car hobby is the only one that has received official approval. Anything else is off the books.
Morgan's enthusiasm was great to see. very enjoyable episode and I am looking forward to the next one
This guy is great! And I agree with basically everything he said! Best Talking Watches since Biver.
Thank you for the your kind comments! Collecting watches you love especially with the good company of JCB’s passion is contagious!
"If you aren't going to wear them, then what's the point."
Morgan just dunked on 95% of the watches displayed on Hodinkee.
Down to earth, humble, what more can you ask from a guy! (plus an incredible collection)
Morgan King, you seem like a very genuine, down to earth guy, that is just collecting watches bc he’s interested and enjoys them, just like everyone else in this world of keeping time. Would LOVE to talk with you, especially after I up my collection a bit😂
first time a guest has mentioned that he likes Hodinkee
He still looks relatively young, so not yet stuck up and showing signs of respect to elders. Plus he's asian, they're usually more polite than whites :)
gmshadowtraders , he's Asian... hence what ever age you had in mind. just add 9 years to that. I am not surprised if he's the older one at the table... 😅
Not the first time.
Watchmate oh?
Spike Feresten
talking watches With Xabi Alonso
love how he had a speedmaster in there too. Not featured but theres always one there in every great collection. Thats why its my only watch

Couldn't love this guys attitude more if I tried, frank, honest, and genuine from the heart!
Thank you for your warm words! Just trying to spread the love and passion we have for the watch community!
Still my favorite series on Hodinkee... Awesome.
Please make it every week, I can't wait for new episodes.
What an amazing collection. Considering he's only been doing it for 5-6 years... 🤓 I really need to up my watch collecting game 😂
EMKWAN REVIEWS true. Have to agree
i wish i was rich enough to collect :(
30 watches in 5 years? I call it shopping.
So fun to see an energetic person collecting watches for once!
Collecting watches you love can certainly do that to a person! Keep collecting and help share the passion and love we all have for these little things that tell time!

You wear your speedy while cooking professionaly? Damn I take mine of if I make a smoothie :D
You only come around one time, if you buy any watch you should wear it, even if I had a 500k watch like the Jacob and co twinn turbo, I would wear it as much as I can, maybe not in the kitchen but at home and out I would! Enjoy your watches!
The only hodinkee episode I never get tired of watching over and over. The best!
Loved what he said, "my favorite watch is the one on my wrist."
Genuine enthusiasm for time pieces, great video.
The best watch is the one that's on your wrist - Well said.

All you really need is one right? The best watch in the world is the one on your wrist. Keep the passion alive and share it baby!
love this interview and the energy from Morgan. cool guy and I'm sure people gravitate towards him....sweet collection and attitude to watches..
His personal philosophies on watches is refreshing! I love his collection and his energy.
I also quite enjoy the fact that he is so ecstatic about every watch within his collection!
@Morgan King You're most welcome and thank you for taking the time to respond!
@Morgan King You are most welcome Brother!
His end message... Truly what it's all about. Great vid!
I find myself going back to this video from time to time. It reminds me that I’m not the only crazy average Joe who has an inexplicable love for watches. "Life is Short, Eat Dessert First"
Best collection ive seen. I like every one of them.
Love that Milgauss!! and a crazy collection of Heuer Monacos.
I'd love to see more talking watches with people like Morgan, seems like a fun guy, with superb taste.
Superb!... This is simply ONE of the best & thought out collection of watches
@Morgan King Yes indeed...
Ben you never disappoint, great video great collection.
Energetic interview! I can feel his passion for watch collecting.
Although we all love to collect different watch brands and styles, the passion for these little things that tell time is the same!
Fantastic guest. Amazing collection of chronograph and Heuer.
Most of all, just loved the passion.
lol he's hilarious
the problem about collecting paul newmans as a new collector like me, is that so many parts may have been swapped out, the history behind each watch is much more muddy.
What a great discussion and collection with a top man. Love the quote about the best watch being the one on your wrist. 👍👍👍
Those words of wisdom at the end... truly what watch collections is all about. "My kids can't go to college anymore" LOL
you can tell which episode of talking watches you're watching by the length of Ben's beard
more of this please
Amazing collection.
Just imagine how it's gonna be in twenty years ;)

@Morgan King Definitely!

His kids can't go to college because daddy wanted a watch...Hahaha! He's hilarious!
“You get that one that you enjoy, and you treasure it, and it’s yours. That’s what it’s all about.”
Right on! My Seiko SARB035 is my one and only all-purpose watch. I love it.
I love his excitement. Was a great video to watch.
Great episode, really enjoyed Morgan King's passion and mentality - infectious.
Great video. This, Mayer, and Biver are my favorites. He was enthusiastic and funny. Didn't just recite history.
Thank you so much for saying that! Just trying to give back to the watch community as they have given so much to me!
Another great addition to this series.
how did that guy make his money awesome collection
You're the man, Morgan. You keep it real and share your passion. I wish I could have caught the trend like you before the boom, but I'm very happy to have the pieces that are in my collection.
Extra points for the video description. Unfortunately when I bumped into Ben I asked him who was next on Talking Watches... so typical.
Had to pause the video when I noticed the dude has 3 paul newmans...
Great episode! This Milgauss was so 👌
Wait wait hold up.
I hear lot of passion , the love for watches in his voice !!!!! by far this is best collection i ever see !!!
One of the best eps I’ve seen! What a great guy!
Favorite by far. love what he said at the end.
Wow this guy is awesome, anyone know if he has an Instagram.
yes, he does check @morgan0714
My fave Talking Watches episode.
Love this Heuer collection. Met Jack Heuer a few months back and love the history of the brand
One of the best ‘Talking Watches’ episode for me at least...!!!!
One of my favourite episodes
lol his collection is much than Archie Luxury has !!!!
But where's the SOLID GGOOOOWWWWLLLDDD SUBBBB, Phuckaaa?!?!?
fuckeroonies!!!
TAGs are so underrated, especially the Monaco. Glad to see the appreciation.
Right? I completely agree! Monacos have such a rich history and look just amazing! So glad Tag Heuer is offering some modern twists with a vintage nod!
This guy is awesome. He has won talking watches
Great TK. Everybody should be proud of the watch that is on his wrist and dream for the next watch. To have dreams is a good thing.
TK=TW ;-)
Nice collection :D
best collection hands down
Sounds a cool guy. Great collection!
Guys got great energy, interesting selection there also!
Great to look back at a time when Heuer was totally inflated. Glad the bubble popped.
Can't wait for that to happen with Rolex. 😛
I love the Daytona with zenith movement with floating Cosmo dial..... so crazy cool.
One of the friendliest guests!
Morgan is a cool guy! Totally love his vibes and humor!
@Morgan King thanks Morgan you are an inspiration to me and I love all my Swatch including my 2 Rolex watches 😊
Thought you would be trying to buy it. lol.
"I don't wear the box and papers" lol
he is right, if you had a swatch you had self worth but now if you aint wearing a 30 grand watch you aint shit
Gotta love the way this guys sees life!!!!
This guy have passion, personality and a great collection. "You have 2 wrists" LOL.....A ture collector!
That is ONE gentleman attitude .......Respect !
Great advice. Thank you for the video and nice collection.
Art history on your wrist is a great way to diversify your investments. Love the passion and energy.
@Morgan King the watch that started it all for me was about 10 years ago Tag Heuer Aquaracer 39mm . Will never get rid of it . I was in the middle of transitioning to a new career and completing my bachelors degree.
Stunning collection. Great video.
Beautiful collection loved every piece, Daytona collection was amazing!
I love is energy and down to earth vibe!
I am obsessed with the vintage sea dwellers!!!!
Is it me or all of Hodinkee's interviewees seem to be so nice and easygoing
Has this been edited? I swear there used to be more talk on the dark lord one
Sadly, that’s all that made it in this episode. There is another Heuer episode from Hodinkee that we spoke more about the Dark Lord!
@@MorganKingNYC ahhhh I see, I thought I was going crazy
great collection. anyone know the reference for the orange watch? i think it's a monaco, but hard to tell from the angles.
@hodinkee who was that guest that said “i can’t stand a watch that goes tik tok”, talking about quartz?
I repeat my question, just hoping that someone can help me:
Can someone please tell me what is the model of the watch cases he uses?
They look very high-quality and I can't find them anywhere on the net.
Thank you in advance!
Can you make a video on article going through the pros and cons of various metals you can chose for the bracelet and casing (gold, plat, ceramic so on).
So Ben, when are you doing your own segment of Talking Watches?
Having a little that is suffices is better than having a lot that distract,i think we should have 5-6 watches at a times and that it,my opinion 👍🏻
