- Daniel Dae Kim is someone who has been on our radar for quite some time. You hear chatter around the watch world about famous and well-known collectors, and Daniel is one of those guys that just keeps coming up time and time again. Words like "passionate" and "enthusiastic" are often involved and it was a real treat to finally sit down with him after all these years. It didn't hurt that he really brought the goods.

I just love when collectors talk proudly of their seiko pieces other than the expensive ones only.

Grand Seikos are expensive I love the one Mr Wonderful owns it has a Rose Gold case. It is worth $26k

He has exquisite taste. I love the rosebud influence of his father’s Seiko Sports. That’s what it’s all about.

Daniel's jaw-line is stronger than my marriage.
Ouch! Maybe he's just very lucky. It could easily have turned out the other way for him, like the sad experience of most men of significant standing and wealth. Shit, some of the nicest guys you can ever meet have had absolutely destructive forces of nature to be their wives, through no fault of their own.

Such a humble guy. I love how he started small with the seiko and worked his way up to the AP and Patek.

I’m glad he mentioned G Shock. He didn’t show one, but he mentioned how great they are at least. He also mentioned that watch collecting isn’t for the rich and famous. If you have enough money to buy the watch you want, even if it’s your only watch, buy it and wear it in good health. 👍🏻

It’s funny how he mentions his dad and Seiko as I have a similar story where my Dad for the longest while had a Seiko and I’m looking at a Grand Seiko for myself and maybe for my father.

My dad gave me my first watch, a Seiko...which I gave to my brother when he got into watches.
I really wish more of these collections had Grand Seikos. They're a really underrated brand among the higher end watches.

I just saw the second John Mayer interview and hated how shallow it was and how he humble bragged throughout the whole video. This interview is much more meaningful because many of these purchases have some meaning to it, not just in want it.

Very balanced, well thought out and with a heart collection. Somehow i can't disassociate Daniel's voice from the fact that he is Korean. I mean he grew up in NYC, but he sounds a bit like an asian guy. I don't say it derisively.
