Thank you so much for making this video and pulling together and illustrating' a story of things not known' - not an easy thing and not fully possible. I've read a little about the Eleusinian mysteries / secrets . I've learned more from your video. Just a few comments the differ or clarify 1) In classical Greece there was no Christian version of the everlasting soul - the word translators render as soul = life / the individual's life-spark. After death, perhaps a ldim shadow period in Hades, then nothing. Beliefs in eternal life came in with slavery, creating a divided society in which some privileged 'philosophers' with time to think all day came to believe that thought didn't just come from the brain (which it clearly does). The Secret rites were about losing the fear of death. The piglet /pig sacrifice in Plato and Socrates' time around 450 B.C. may have been a substitute for earlier practice of child sacrifice: the killing of a child is part of the Demeter/Persephone myths. In early agrarian communities, the killing of some babies may have been linked to population control (as has been recorded in some island communities) to prevent starvation. I agree with the hallucinogenic theory. Fasting before hand would make the drug work faster. Going through this process in a big group, under the care of experienced priests and priestesses, initiates came out feeling connected and free from fear of mortality. You made one slip of the tongue . Hades was the place Persephone (spring) was kidnapped to and not her kidnapper. Thanks again for the excellent video.
A mystery is a mystery to the intellect, to thoughts, to words, as the experience is at the essence of one's being. This is the gap that is in between each of our thoughts. Scientifically, it can be described as 4D and we are merely in a 3D body with 3D neurons and 3D neural patterns (thoughts), but our mind is 4D. It is this 4D awakening that is the mystery.
Hi! I am interested in a few questions about the Eleusinian mysteries. Question 1: At what time of the year did Hades kidnap Cora? In the myth of Demeter it is mentioned that Cora was picking flowers in the meadow and her attention was attracted by a daffodil. But these are spring flowers! So the kidnapping could have taken place in the spring? So, Cora (Persephone) had to spend her time in Hades in summer? That is, the burial of grain in the fall in the ground is not Persephone's sending to Hades, but on the contrary - reunion with her mother Demeter? Question 2: What could the Anaktoron, a small structure inside the temple of Telesterion, have been? Could it have been an oven for baking bread? After all, there are mentions that a hole was made in the roof of Telesterion for the flames to escape. Besides, the story of Demeter's baking of the little prince Demophontes is remarkable. The goddess wanted to make him immortal, but his mother interrupted the sacrament. So, Demeter chose another, more difficult way for mankind - through farming, growing grains and baking bread. Through the eating of bread there is communion with the body of the goddess Persephone. And those of mortals who have tasted the god become immortal. Question 3: Who is Brimos? During the final scenes of the mysteries, the Hierophant exclaims: "Brimo has given birth to Brimos!". That is, the Mighty One gave birth to the Mighty One. Some researchers believe that it could be Dionysus. But as a proof of the miracle to the participants of the mysteries the hierophant presented the wheat ear! How can it be connected with Dionysus?
Hello! 1: Considering the fact that this myth explains why we have the four seasons, I would assume that before this all happened it would've been a perpetual spring/summer without any change of the seasons and therefore flowers wouldn't necessarily be seasonal. So I don't think the question of "what time of year was it?" makes sense, since Persephone going to Hades and Demeter looking for her was theoretically the first fall/winter (according to Greek myth). 2. Don't know honestly, I'm not an archaeologist that kind of stuff is outside my area of study :( 3. I believe Brimos is not a name but a common epithet for different gods, meaning "angry or fearsome." But Dionysus is often associated with various Mystery cults since he is the god of ritual madness, whether that's true or not is still very much up to debate in most cases. You might like my video on Orphism, it talks a little about how Dionysus and Orpheus get associated with a lot of different mystery cults and how that association can be exaggerated at times.
Amazing! Linear Christianity is such an unsatisfactory replacement for these rites. And pure science is even worse. Look at how the modern western world is, no community, no unity. I hope soon we can make new mystery cults and bring people back together again.
Again, it sounds obvious when said out loud, but the whole idea the soul being trapped in an impure body and needing specific rituals and divine inspiration to cleanse and thus attain "heaven" in the proper way... well, like you said, it's really nothing new.

It was a lot like a Grateful Dead concert.
