    I think they are good values despite their plastic interiors. I looked at a 2009 Tahoe with 270k miles and it’s door still shut like a vault. Firmly with no rattles. The 2013 Expedition next to it had 180k and the door rattled, sent a lot of vibration through the cabin and sounded like it was falling apart.

      I knew a guy that had a Chevy Silverado with the 5.3 ltr, one of the Cherry design years, that last time I talked to him, he had over 200k miles on it with the original engine and transmission and still running and driving great. A friend of mine bought a Silverado some years back, also a Cherry design with the 5.3 ltr, it had over 200k when he bought it, it had over 300k when it was stolen from him and was still running great. I'm impressed with some of these older Chevys, they seem to have a great lifespan.

    These Gen IV motors are LS motors. The one in the video has the basic 4x4 system for highway mileage and good in the snow, not maximum towing or off-roading, those run the 2-speed transfer case and have 3.42 gears versus the 3.08s.

    I’m currently researching/shopping for my first used SUV and feel a little stuck. I’m looking for reliability indefinitely and am eyeing the 2006-09 Toyota 4Runner, 2008-2010 highlander and this 2010 Chevy Tahoe. I’ve always loved the styling of chevys but am worried about reliability with the whole LS engine fiasco with the 07-08 (09?)Thank you for this review

    • @flonkas
      @flonkas 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sir I am in the same market. Have you narrowed it down?

    • @OSLissa
      @OSLissa 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roger Toledano
      So far I’ve narrowed it down to 2008-2013 Yukon and 2008+ Toyota Sequoia/4Runner. I’m leaning more towards reliability (Toyota) so I may end up getting the sequoia or 4Runner. The Tahoe/Yukon seems to need a little more TLC and it’s highly suggested to do the DOD delete on the engines of the Tahoe/Yukon. There’s plenty of videos about the DOD as well as Chevy Tahoe forums that’ll help with maintaining and getting the SUV right.
      Btw, I’m a woman 😉

    • @rukus100821
      @rukus100821 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      CONS: your torque converter isnt up to parr for the amount of power to weight ratio, then your front wheel bearings are not up to spec either finally your door handles if you grab them close to the swivel of the handle they will snap off.
      PROS: your 4L80E transmission is the best i have read so far unless there is better, performa transmission can build you a much better one for 4k and that includes over 1000 HP cap converter not included.

      Except the have that crappy 4L60e, went through 3 of them. The 6l80e in this newer gen is much better.

      @@zachariahz9832 If you’re doing burnouts or heavy towing “heavier than recommended” yeah you’ll go through a few of them I have had two second gen Yukon and Tahoes and have never given me any problems with the transmission very reliable engines and transmissions if you treat them well that is.
      Third gen Tahoes have Engine problems with fuel management and or collapsed or turn around lifters.
      All cars and SUVs have some type of normal problems in them.

    This is one of the worst gens of these models. As far as the interiors go. Dirt cheap plastics everywhere. I’m glad they improved with the 15’ and newer.

      But these are regarded as one of the most reliable. With the 2015+ considered to be the worst as far as reliability.

      IMO, 2015 and up were even worse for build quality. 2000-2006 were the last good years of the Tahoe/Suburban.
